  1. All good feedback...will try to find a good detail painter, it is not my forte LOL! On the TD rivet, how should it be? The rivet is too close, but the bracket is in the right spot? Or do we need a gap in between the panel and the bracket? Those are the standard Jesse brackets, we just used rivets instead of screws because the endcaps stuck on during the test LOL. The rest is easy fixes to dial it in better, Mahalos all!
  2. Thanks all, after I drilled the holes, I looked at the reference caps and was pretty sure the rivets were off. I hate to even admit the silly mistake, but we were moving fast and we put the belt on the wrong thigh to begin with! As I suited Svache up, the shin cover strip did unglue a bit at the bottom, we can fix that. For the bowing out on the kidney shims, I am not sure what to do there...I used abs on mine, and I did not like how it did not curve in to fit me. So we used a thin sign for svache, but it he has a little extra roll on the side we need to pull in! maybe backing the shims with solid ABS will help...will give it a shot. I did not catch the loose cover strip on the thigh, will lock it down. Do you all think the AP is just too small for centurion?
  3. I agree, if you have feedback, let us know...it is my first time helping with a serious try at Centurion....if the AP is just too small for approval, I understand. I thought all "movie derived" armor was small, but close in size. This is noticably smaller than ATA and TE2 I've worked with. If there are things we can fix, let us know and we'll dial it in.

    Why not TK

In Hawaii, we have zero snowtroopers lol. TK was my first love. I built one, got approved, and started trooping. Most of the troopers were clones, I was normally the only TK, and I stood out. We had an assortment, but we did not have a Rex. The kids always asked where Rex was. So I built one. Owning both is a great option. The adults instantly recognize the TK, while kids love Rex. For Halloween last year I wore my TK to a Chinatown party, and the crowd went nuts. I wore my Rex to Waikiki, and not as much. So for adult events, I lean towards TK. We have more troopers building TK's now, and we are planning a TD squad too. So some of it depends on the flavor of the troopers in your area And some depends on what you like. I was never really into the clones until I built mine, and now I have both a Phase I and Phase II Rex. The series has really gotten very good lately! However, I always tell people, start with a TK build. Clones are 5X the work at least.
  5. Not FUBAR at all LOL. And I know what that means. Looking good!
  6. Nice meeting you buddy! Great job on the posting. Those are not just fluff posts either! You have some quality info on here.
  7. FISD crew, it was a pleasure meeting all of you! After seeing you all, I really wished I brought my TK too! I was right in front of you at the shoot, and I did mention a problem then. I know people troop what they can, and no one has unlimited income to spend on white plastic, but really? At least three things stand out in that photo. All of the FISD/GT crew looked incredible, but I also saw some of the worst TK's I have ever seen. I also realize that many of the TK's strolling around were not 501st. (At least I hope so!) Again, great job from 99.99% of the TK's out there, I really had a great time. Julie just can not stop talking about how wonderful everyone is. Looks like we need to figure out how to pay for a Germany trip!
  8. I started with an AM kit to get in the Legion. It was fast shipping and an easy build, and I had a lot of fun times with the kit. To me, white stormtrooper is the classic Star Wars look. Unfortunately, I was normally the only TK at events, and I felt like I stood out with the majority of folks being clone. I ordered up a realistic Rex, and really learned about armor building putting the kit together. A good friend blew the engine on his van, and need to sell his clone to fund a new set of wheels. I gave my AM to him so he could keep on trooping, but I missed my white plastic. I always wanted a TE2, especially since I live in Hawaii, but sadly, there have been no TE2 pulls for some time now. Femtrooper Juie surprised me at Christmas with a used ANH Hero TE2 kit from our FISD founder, Daetrin. The kit had seen some miles, and was certainly loved in it's five years with Paul. I am close to Paul's ht, but a bit thicker in the middle With a 2" side shim, it fit fine. The paint was a bit "egg-shell", and there were some cracked out pieces on the thighs and other areas. We cut patches and spliced them in, and went to work on the paint. It is all enamel rattle can, but is 3 layers with wet sanding in between each coat. The top coat was color sanded to 2000 grit and then machine polished. I think I have a shine that beats ABS, it is really "deep." We replaced the velco/snap system with new snap plates, and added the EIB details, along with a new belt. It was an honor for the armor's re-debut be at the 2012 Kawaii Kon, wearing it around the crowd as TE2 discussed the lineage of Tk armor. SO here is the final result. I messed up the holster location at first, and had to shift it back. I have small patches over the old holes. I have a new belt to swap out this week. The brow trim drooped a bit, I need to put some glue on there to keep that from repeating. The side does close better, I just need a good hanker helping me suit up instead of my son! I just need to add the white elastic for EIB submission. Feel free to make any criticisms, with the history of this set, I want it to be a top notch build!
  9. I messed up my first belt by attaching it too close to the front, and I am redoing it with a new belt. I use snaps right now so that I can easily remove it for storage or it weapons are not allowed at the event. I am going ANH hero, I know snaps are allowed for attachment, but I have also seen people rivet on the male snap end to the belt what is the preferred method to look the best? Thanks troopers! Ed
  10. Was a pleasure meeting Darth Aloha! He is a great TK, but wow! What a Vader! The force is strong with this one! What a fun weekend, we really put on show for all the Naruto and Pokemon types! They all really enjoyed the show, and the power of Vader's fist is indisputable in Hawaii!
  11. Ah, a dashing pirate becomes a shiny stormtrooper! I love it! You are obviously a very talented costumer!
  12. Working on it boss! A certain femtrooper started prodding me and Wet Okole to get a TE2 set we have repainted and ready to troop "just in case!" She can be quite persistent! When it is done, it'll be EIB at least!
  13. Geesh, not at all true. I sold my TK for one million dollars It was an AM, and I had some work in it, but it was my first suit, and after the clone build I wanted to redo the TK anyway. Giving it to my fellow trooper gives me an excuse to get a better set and do a better job on the assembly. Julie did not mention the super nice Doopy-Doos resin blaster was her very own femtrooper build that she just completed, but she decided it'd be better with the trooper and she kept her Hasbro! I don't know if you guys know, but Julie is such a good 501st spokesperson that she has been promoted to Outpost Public Relations Officer. She lined up out Halloween news event, and Julie also organized the first ever Outpost Salvation Army bell ringing event for December. She bought patches for all attendees out of her own pocket. There are tons of great trooper stories out there I am sure. However, many people are shy about talking about themselves.
  14. I just use a soldering iron to melt a hole into the straps. Makes it nice and clean, and is fray-proof. Looking good!
  15. Femtrooper Julie got her Slave Leia complete, we took shots for her and submitted to RL for approval tonight. I have never helped with a Leia build before, Please feel free to give my any advice!
  16. Stop in and introduce yourself! Not a not of traffic there, but we do use it some! We are doing HEX this coming weekend, and then not much going on until Late Oct.
  17. Thank you all! Will get both, I contacted RT/MOD, and the prices are very reasonable. Make sure to get in touch with us Darth! No need to haul yours over here. May want to get on the PAC501 boards since we are your local Outpost: www,pac501.net/boards
  18. I am trying to get my AM ready for EIB. I have an AP lid, and have replaced the square shins with FX pieces. I am going to go ahead and pickup an RT/Mod chest. The AM back is fine with the RT/Mod chest correct? Or should I get both pieces? Thanks! Hope to be a better Trooper in the future!
  19. I use it, works great! Like others have said, you have to adapt the big plug down for the amp, but never had any interference, and I have trooped it a lot!
