  1. It's not that they (shin guards) are riding up - they are just too short for my spindly shin bones. I'm going to try and take one last look at the AM helmet and see what i can figure out. I was just trying to avoid buying another helmet. Was hoping someone had the AM helmet and has made it functional.
  2. OK guys, I have my AM full kit. Everything is put together and I must say that I'm still impressed with the quality etc. But.....I have a few issues that I'd like to take care of. 1. I'm 6' 2" most of that being leg. I'm finding that my shin pieces are too short - they keep riding up well over the tops of my boots. 2. The helmet. It's am AM. Basically, it just seems huge. It looks great on, but I have trouble moving around in it. To get it low enough on my head to see out the eyes, it basically sits on the shoulders of the armor. If I have to look around, it "rides up" just enough that it kills my vision out of the helmet. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Here's the only pic that I have at the moment. I was so caught up in "Texas Ranger Fever" I put decals all over it. It was a huge hit. Don't worry they are all gone now. I wanted to resolve the helmet issues before I go to much farther. Just noticed that I'm missing my "buttons" on the front - still have it, it was loose and I was afraid of losing it. Thanks in advance, John
  3. You might try an AM kit..... Very well made and plenty of material for big guys. I'm 6' 3" 205 - and I actually had to trim material away. No shims were needed.
  4. My goodness that's a BIG gun you have there.... Seriously - well done. that has to be best weathering job I've seen to date. Very impressive.
  5. Welders shield....Brilliant. I'm going to give that a try.
  6. Fitted the lenses to my helmet last night...the molded ones and boy, looking out them makes me think I had too much to drink. Is the flat acetate a better option for vision or is that just something I need to get used to ?
  7. Wire hooks ? Panda please explain... a search turned up nada. Sorry to hijack. I'd test that goo begone on a piece that you wouldn't see. I'd be afraid of the chemicals softening and marring the armor. There are some citrus adhesive removers (supposedly non-toxic) that might work - but again, I'd try them on an inconspicous spot.
  8. At that price ($475) I don't think you can go wrong. I actually just received my AM armor about 2 hrs ago via UPS. Very well packaged and organized. I'm still a bit in awe. I knew it would be a good kit, but man - this is really, really nice. Shiney, sharp, and trimmed. Much, much more than I expected. Comes with pretty much everything you need. I'm about your size (6'2" 210lbs) and I think it will be perfect. There is extra material that can be trimmed off or added to on all the critical pieces. Granted, this is my first set of armor, but I am confident that the quality of this armor would be very hard to beat. It comes with very detailed instruction packet as well. (20 pages or so) Inspires confidence. I'm about to hit the sack and get an early start in the morning assembling. I really don't think you can go wrong with the AM kit. Go for it.
  9. Anybody sell those droopydoo kits in the states or do they come from across the pond ?
  10. Well, I went with the AM kit with the contact info obtained off this site. Feel like a kid at Christmas.....a big 'ol 6'2" 210lb 43 year old kid. Going to spend the day reading more about assembly & blasters etc.
  11. Ok - I'm listening to you guys. sometimes I get ahead of myself and need to be smacked. Still shopping.
  12. I know that I have been warned about buying FX armor off ebay....but it seems that most of these kits are coming out of England and are generally selling right around $300 with about $100 for shipping. I'm handy enough to trim and assemble. This seems to be the least expensive way for me to get into some armor - unless anyone knows of other alternatives that I haven't been able to find yet. I've been reading sooo much over the last few days that it is all blurring together. Here's a link:------------ Worth it or should I keep searching ? 6'2" 210 for sizing reference. I had originally planned to get RT-mod armor, but have yet been able to contact him. Any 2 cents appreciated.
