  1. Here is my wiring diagram. Bottom of the page. This assumes 2 12vdc fans. ----------- Enjoy.
  2. ------------ I suggest the tutorial on this page for fans. Do use AA batteries. 9V are not made to run things like fans and will only last a short while and are expensive to replace. AA will last numerous troops.
  3. I have the ROM FX system and I mounted the speaker in the left pec of the chest piece and have the ROM FX board in the right pec with the power supply cord running over my right should to the back. In the back I have 2x 8 AA batter holders for a 12V system. I have a headset I bought at Best Buy plugged into the ROM FX so I can still talk though my system whether my helmet is on or off.
  4. I had a great experience with RT. I know his equipment is down but when I ordered my helmet, it arrived fast. I have it all put together and I really like it. I made some changes in the things I didn't like but it was just me being picky. • The instructions on his site are fair but from putting a helmet together before, it wasn't bad. • I didn't like the lenses so someone hooked me up with another set • I live in Texas so I prefer the ventilation that a hard hat liner provides instead of the foam provided... it was nice foam though. • I told him I wasn't crazy about the ears without the rank indensions. It is a black sticker that is covered by a grey sticker with pill shapes cut out. He said he might change that some time in the future. • Before I put it together, I painted the inside black... that looks SHARP. Someone else on the boards idea. Thank you! • I used epoxy putty to create a ring around the eyes on the inside to give me something to mount the lenses too. Same guys idea... Big thank you. Everything else was great. The face looks great, the aerators were great (needed some touch up paid), the way the helmet goes together in general was fine.
  5. ok. that's it. I am going to finish the upgrade soon. I just finished the helmet, just need to replace some riveted stuff and make a new belt.
  6. I am working on one right now. Veers style without the armor.
  7. Great Stuff! http://www.adultswim.com/shows/robotchicken/stuff/rcsw/ivcp/
  8. Definitely not normal. I would say the load on this is to high but not when they are off. I wouldn't know with out seeing a diagram of your layout.
  9. our guys use the back of white plastic signs from the hardware store and just velcro them in. Easy and cheap way to do it. Funny thing is some of them say "handicap". I just used the extra belt pieces that came with my armor turned vertically.
  10. I just bought an RT-Mod helmet but I can say so far, I am very impressed. I got a package in the mail the other day thinking it couldn't be my helmet because armor usually takes weeks/months to arrive but no it was the helmet. It perfectly matches my FX and I was VERY happy about that because it was my biggest issue about replacing my helmet. If I could just talk him into changing the ear/rank caps to have molded detail, all would be perfect.
  11. I wouldn't call 5' 11" 190lbs a "bigger frame."
  12. I am the PR officer for Star Garrison which includes all of South Texas. I have forwarded this request to Houston's squad leader. If you don't hear anything back in 24 hours. Please send an email to info@stargarrison.com
  13. If you don't have old boots, I would suggest the this: I did basically the same set up but, when I built the base, I put holes though the base and ran cables up to the back of the ankles and bolted it on. The calves of the armor cover the cables. I tried to take a picture of it but I can't find my feet. ------------
  14. If I read that right are you putting screws through the boots?
  15. Thanks guys. I ordered last night. Since I have a functional FX helmet for now, I am going to take my time on this one and go all out. I will do tutorials like I did on my FX stuff. It won't arrive from RT till some time next month so I am going to work on my other list of projects till then. The next may be the Imperial Binders I have wanted for sooo long. My goal is to get my armor to deployment status by end of the year. I bought parts to replace all the ones I have now where rivets show.
  16. About to buy one of these. -Does the RT-Mod helmet color match the FX armor color? -Is the helmet screen accurate size or larger?
  17. I just bought styrene from the hobby store and cut it into small piece and used ABS cement. If you have a Hobby Town in your area. That is where I got my styrene.
  18. IMPORTANT SUGGESTION: An item on my armor to do list is to re-do my shoulder straps and my knees because rivets are visible. I DON'T suggest following my instructions on the shoulder straps or knees. I need to take those instructions off the site. On the flip side. In my head, I have engineered a way to put those parts on by riveting from the inside out. I am going to try to cut a piece of styrene and rivet from the inside of the armor to the styrene. Then shave the end of the rivet down and then ABS cement the shoulder to the styrene. I have NOT tried this yet but I imagine it will be my solution for seemless shoulders and knee plates.
  19. I agree with the Elite usage. I think that is used in the "Empire at War" game for the Stormtroopers.
  20. I am on the road to deployed status. I have a lot of replacement parts in hand to put on. Really wish I hadn't done rivets in my shoulders and some other places. I will do tutorials when I get into it.
  21. PM me if you are interested in a set of buttons.
  22. Looks good. I need to do the canvas belt mod too... amoung other things. Things I would add are closing the gaps between the abs and back (I used the extra belt pieces that came with my armor). The guys in my garrison use white yard signs for like garage sales and use industrial velcro to hold it in place. Other than that looks like you are ready to roll..... now back to working on all the stuff I need to change.
  23. I ordered them so I will let you know what I think once I have used them. Nomex gloves just don't age well. I would guess, to keep them looking nice, you need to replace them every 1-2 years. At least that is my experience. The fabric gets pilled and looks like an old teddy bear. This soft leather should last a long time. If it gets spots on it, the leather can be easily redyed.
  24. Has anyone used anything like this? They might be a little long but easily trimmed. -----------------
