  1. That is some nice looking armor. Not sure of the pricing of the stuff that Pat linked to, but ThinkGeek also has chain mail shirts and coifs for sale: Chain Mail Shirt Chain Mail Coif They also have gauntlets: Medieval Steel Gauntlets
  2. Happy b-day, man!
  3. Hi Karin. I just wanted to say that I was extremely impressed both times I ordered from you. I was really new to the hobby when I ordered the d-rings and later the handguards. Both arrived very quickly, and I had one of those awestruck moments when I opened the handguards package--here in my hand were authentic, accurate stormtrooper pieces. At that point, I didn't even have armor yet. It was very exciting and a little humbling too! I must admit that I kept the envelopes around for quite a while because I don't think I had ever gotten mail from Austria before... My experience with you helped shape my impression of the people involved in this hobby--it's not a money making venture, but really a labor of love. I'm sure that there are exceptions to the rule, but this forum has not disappointed me. It really is about troopers helping troopers. You embody that idea, and I'm grateful for it. Although I'm still in the build phase, one of these days in the coming months, you'll hopefully see a proud new EIB TK with some fantastic handguards and a d-ring. Be proud of the work you have done! Thanks again! Eric O.
  4. Peanut butter also removes sticker / tape adhesive. Personally, I'm Goo Gone guy now.
  5. Big grats, Brian! Looks great, man!
  6. Whoops, I wasn't trying to get her in trouble lol! I didn't even see the chest problem--I saw stormtrooper and started imagining how hot I would have been at my graduations with all that on. No idea what the weather is like in NZ this time of year though. Maybe it'd be ok. Anyways, I'm not surprised that there are critiques... I'd be surprised if there were not!
  7. Something to aspire to--man, I wish I would have thought of this. Has anyone else ever done this for graduation?!? 8. Thanks for the soldering iron tip--great idea, thanks. Can't wait to see your finished build--you are close, man.
  9. I can't believe I missed your test fit post pics--looking good, man. I think you posted the stuff I would point out. Add paint ab buttons to the list maybe. Looks like the frown on my bucket is painted, but I hear you on the chin decal. There's a pretty cool tip for making a template for painting, if you haven't seen it: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=1941 Anyways, I wish I could help you more. I started sanding some edges on my pieces, but my kit has sat mostly untouched due to work and taxes over the last week.... I did make some test snaps in the .040" ABS I found--do you have secrets for getting clean holes in ABS? I found that poking an awl through and then slowly drilling the other side made the cleanest holes, but maybe you have a better way? On the legs, maybe shorten the elastic straps so they pull the thighs up more? Are you attaching them to a belt around waist, or to the armor?
  10. Working on it, Sir!
  11. Hey Matt. I just saw this thread, and though you don't know me, I just wanted to pass along some good karma your way. I'm so very sorry to hear that your gear was stolen, and I really don't understand why someone would do this. The closest experience that I can relate to it was when I had a couple of break-ins to my house a number of years back--so I can understand the feeling of violation, though the stuff that was taken from me was easily replaced. I can't imagine having such personal items taken, ugh. In reading through these posts, I really get a sense of how much you enjoy trooping. So, I will try to support you by keeping a lookout on fleabay here in the States and however else I can. It sounds like there are some things in the works too. Anyways I understand you need time to regroup, but if you can, please remember how much joy and fun you've given to others. I don't mean to minimize your loss in any way as I know this is a big setback. Hang in there. EO
  12. Gosh, Carsten...I don't even consider myself a "gun person", and I'm drooling all over that! When are you starting a waiting list for orders?!? Thanks for posting the tutorial!
  13. Lol! A lot of people recommended Tandy snaps over the Dritz and other brands. The owner of the local Tandy shop knew that I was getting them for TK armor--he didn't discourage me from getting them.
  14. Tandy has 100-count packs of snaps.
  15. Hey Brian. Sorry if I started you down the spiral earlier. I didn't catch that you had glued stuff already--I definitely wouldn't advocate you ripping stuff apart. I know you are pretty fearless with your mods, but yeah the butt-joints with strips would be a lot work anyways on the RT, even if you hadn't glued yet. Have fun with the build, man! I'll be watching for more pix to get me through until I get my plastic, heh. EO
  16. Cool--thanks for the info on the drop boxes, I was just about to order a set. :/ Maybe you could sell them in the Imperial Commisary--not like the inner boxes are likely to wear out. Rob *is* really great to deal with. I didn't think to ask him for finishing strips when I placed the order, but I was sort of discouraged by the idea when I thought about what I'd have to do to make them work. AFAIK, it's for the four arm and four leg pieces. You'd have to trim the front seams so that they butt up against each other. Stukatrooper used plastic weld to join his together--check out page 2 of his Flickr set: Since the RT armor is meant to overlap, I'm assuming that you'd have to use a heat gun to make the pieces lie flat so you could weld them together. Then the finishing strip is glued on top. Troopermaster gave measurements for the widths of the strips in the accuracy thread from the tricks and tips section (post #41 if my link is fubared): http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=7713&st=40 Maybe Rob was thinking you would glue them overlapped and then glue the strip on top--not sure how that would look to be honest. I'd like to see how you do it. In any case, looks like ABS is tough to find without getting a huge sheet. Those strips might make good snap tabs if you go with a snap / strap system. Big grats on the Wisconsin Garrison, man!
  17. Hey SolderMaster--your pimped out Hyperfirm looks great! Congrats on getting the armor too, man--I've been waiting to see when you got yours. (I may be up next in the queue for plastic from Canada... ) Anyways, can't wait to see what you do your build. I thought you said in another post that you bought the inner drop boxes from kwdesigns, but I couldn't tell if your RT set came with them too. Could you confirm? Also, on the last photo you posted of the pieces spread out on the floor, are those finishing strips in the lower right corner? If so, did you have to special order butt-joined pieces with strips--or is that how the kit comes? Thanks, dude. Good luck with the armor build!
