  1. For obvious reasons the face plate looks very close. Seeing the back and cap on the SDS next to an RS just confirms what we already knew, i.e. it's a mis-match, too small for the face plate, probably because it's recast from something a little on the small side.
  2. Congratulations, Fer. I particularly like the new cover strips
  3. The inner layer is a different type of cloth. It has a sheen and a certain silk-like quality to it. Not sure whether it is actually silk yarn but it's "silky" and shiny.
  4. Plenty of people have done it and there's no reason you shouldn't but it helps to have someone to accompany you as a kind of unofficial spotter. Karin makes some good points too .... The only time I generally go out in armour other than on official troops is for carnival. And guess which two items I usually leave at home!
  5. I just forgot to type the "P" at the beginning. Oops!
  6. Excellent, mate. Congratulations. If the chest overlaps as freely as Luke's did, it could make for quite a comfy suit for bending over in and stuff. Watch how low the chest goes over his ab buttons in the trash compactor. Looks like Paul's got it right; there looks to be quite a bit of slack on the strapping. Most impressive project!
  7. The high-brow one makes a great replica of one of my favourite on-screen troopers ...
  8. PS Looking good, Steve/Paul. I'd like to get a TM hero helmet at some point.
  9. Yeah, Paul, true enough. Juanma does exactly that with the suit you built for him. And it's fine for going to events by car but there's no way I'm giving airport backage handlers my armour in a soft suitcase! One of the downsides of living on a small island ... you have to get on a plane to go anywhere. I've got a large, hard-plastic tool chest with wheels which I use to carry costumes on planes. I just disconnected the chest and back armour and it all fits in (including helmet and boots). So, just a case of unfastening six screws.
  10. I think you might have to come to Tenerife to see it in person, JosƃĀ©. With the original strapping system it's difficult to disassemble it to a convenient sized package for travelling. I'll probably have the CFO ROTJ suit with me when I come to MƃĀ”laga.
  11. Thanks, guys. Yeah, great legs; I did a really good job on the thigh and shin armour!
  12. The new armour finally got a run-out this weekend. And even if I say so myself, I think it looks the dog's danglies .... Eyes on the TM armour, chaps!!!
  13. I don't like the FX helment because it doesn't look anything like a stormtrooper helmet.
  14. They can. At least 1cm, judging by the photos. Move the connection point (snap or whatever you have under the shoulders) so that the bell touches the shoulder straps at the top. My TM: ------------ ------------------ ----
  15. The bicep in the left of the picture as we look at it (the one with the pronounced swoop) is for your right arm.
  16. Nice build Rolf. Be careful with the ears. The ears on the RS have to be left a lot thicker at the front than at the back. (As I'm sure you have noticed) in the transitional area from the cap to the face plate there is a "step down" where the face plate seems to be a little collapsed in the cheek area. It's not a perfectly flush curve. This is not criticism of the helmet kit - it's a near perfect replica of the original - just an odd characteristic of this one helmet. If you do trim any more off the ears, don't do too much. This kit needs the ears relatively thick at the front.
  17. I've said it before and I say it again .... We're fortunate that this fell into the hands of Si and Rob. They're really easy to deal with. Congratulations on the kit. Enjoy the build.
  18. That's where I was going wrong!
  19. They love to walk into the frame huh? But if you get clobbered by Ewoks, they come and rescue you ...
  20. Stormtroopers don't have dewbacks and your dewback is also highly inaccurate ...... but gorgeous!
  21. Billy, I've got my own pipe build version of the blaster. I love it. Just wasn't aware of this "Pugman mould". Would love to know what Rob and Si have got planned. Check out the right hand guard in the two photos of the statue. Switcheroo?
  22. +1 The ivory tint of the ABS is captured very nicely in that excellent photo too.
