  1. Thanks! I think right now I'm keeping both sets as TK and slowly accure all the necessary accessories for a TD. I think working on this bucket and assembling the AP armor will keep me plenty busy! And I've already got the aerator end covered - on Stomper's list again.
  2. Thanks to everyone who suggested where to pick up the putty. I stopped by Wal-Mart on the way home and grabbed some... And here is a side-by-side comparison with my new unfinished AP helmet. I'm hoping I can make the TE2 look at least as good. Hopefully I can get to sanding & priming tomorrow evening. We're supposed to have good weather this weekend - if so it will be painting time!
  3. Sorry for the lack of updates - not much going on right now. I have purchased everything except the putty. I've tried four different hardware stores (2 Home Depots, Lowes, & Ace) and none of them have it. <_< I'm going to try another place or two but if I strike out there then I'm just going to skip it and go right to priming & painting.
  4. Already have a canvas belt that's replaced the ABS (picked it up for Elite status) and will nab a second for my AP. I've used bits off the old belt to make mountings for a few snaps that I added to the kit but still have plenty left over for whatever I might need - which looks like creating a new sniper plate.
  5. Sounds good to me. I was kind of leaning in that direction - the only thing being that I'd have to either modify the FX ab plate or change it out entirely. I could find out from AP if he could sell just an ab plate... Also have to change the sniper plate but I don't think that should be too difficult.
  6. Wow, Steve, sounds like you went all out. I think it's a good idea to start with FX unless one has a lot of experience with costume/modling. I started with FX and and I'm glad for it because it gave me a lot of practice & experience with plastic armor (although now I wish the $$ had gone towards something like an RT to begin with). Now I think I'm ready to put together my set of AP armor that should be here by Thursday. I may either use the AP as a TD or I may convert my FX/TE2 combo into a TD.
  7. Going a bit off on a tangent here, but I really dislike this "new" continuity that's been created with EP I - III. For decades before they came out, Star Wars was alive and well in novels, many of which are far better than those films. They were considered canon at the time, but now that the films are out and have changed things around, the books (for the most part) are no longer canon. For instance, I MUCH prefer the idea that the Death Star was conceived by a super-genius in a facility surrounded by black holes near Kessel than by a bunch of hive insects (EP II). To bring things back on-topic I don't care for the SE editions of the original films, either. I agree that Lucas/Fox needs to bring the originals out on remastered, full THX DVD. The one good thing I can say for the SEs was that they re-exposed millions to Star Wars - allowing many to see them in the theaters for the first time.
  8. I thought the same thing, too. Not that I disagree with them needing to be cut, just that perhaps it needs to be mentioned in the standards. Maybe such a thing is generally taken for granted, though, and so not discussed. I, too, think you've done a great job! If you don't mind my asking, what did you use to close up your side gaps?
  9. I just seperate my kidney/butt plate this afternoon. I have a set of VaderDave's ab buttons on order to replace the huge black FX ones, and I now have my TE2 that I plan to turn into an ANH stunt. I believe that those are all that need to be finished before submitting my Elite app.
  10. The suit does look good! Are you going to make another set to wear or was this just a one-time thing to have a display?
  11. I'm going ANH stunt. The only thing I'm not sure is if I'm going to go ahead and keep it clean for my TK, or if I will dirty it up for the TD I keep thinking about doing. Either way I hope it turns out as well as the other TE2 builds posted here have.
  12. Looks terrific! I can only hope my AP turns out that well when I get started on it once it comes in this week.
  13. These threads seem to be popular so I thought I would start one of my own. My TE2 came in the mail yesterday and I felt like a kid in a candy store. I have not done much to it as yet - just trimmed the eyes and teeth out a bit more. I've got all the paints, sandpaper, and putty on my shopping list that I hope to pick up during the week. I'm looking forward to getting started!
  14. I guess that's why the slogan "Unquestioned Loyalty" is only for the FISD. But seriously, go wherever the best info is available.
  15. I have a question about the newly-posted standards. I noticed that in neither the link to the base Elite or to the ANH Elite was there any mention of splitting the ab/butt plate into two sections, as was stated in the earlier Elite standards. Is this an omission or have the standards changed? Thanks for clearing this up!
  16. I'm not so sure about that. From how I intepret the Legion charter, I think you can wear paldrons plus other items with your armor at any event that is considered non-canon. This includes cons, parades, charity events, and other types. Only canon events require that TKs be kept clean. Of course there is the point that you wouldn't want to wear a paldron to most events because you want to keep yourself looking more screen-accurate and feel proud about keeping up the legacy of the TK. But maybe that's just me.
  17. Ufortunately the best place to find a more-or-less definitive answer to your question, CloneTroopers.net, is offline at present. My garrison's XO is also the XO of that site and has said that they hope to get the forum back up and running ASAP. The MR buckets do look very nice, but I don't know about their quality. I would not be surprised if there are not kits of some sort out there, but I don't think there is as much support from armor makers for TCs as there are for TKs, as clone troopers haven't been around as long. I could be completely wrong, though.
  18. I've done the same - glued the thighs completely together and used glue on the fronts and velcro on the back of the shin pieces. Like you I originally used velcro but grew to dislike it. However it did prove useful for testing out how the pieces fit and provided a guide for where to glue.
  19. Nice work so far. I'm paying attention to all of these AP build threads as soon I'll be joining you when my own AP kit arrives.
  20. Actually, what Steven is talking about are not rivets at all but snaps, not unlike what you would find on a coat. I used heavy-duty snaps to attach my holster to a canvas belt and they work very well. You could also use rivets but that is a more-or-less permanent solution, whereas with snaps you can remove the holster when you want.
  21. I am waiting on my new helmet, although I think all I have to do to my current FX lid is to change the flat smoke lenses out for green. All that is left to do on the rest of my armor is to cut the back plate (doesn't seem too difficult) and change out my ab buttons (more difficult because of the amount of glue used to keep the current buttons in place). I do plan on attaining Elite status before summer, hopefully sooner depending on how my new careeer search goes.
  22. Congratulations to the '08 command staff, old and new, and especially to Terrell! The FISD is in very capable hands.
  23. Ed, thank you for all you've done for the FISD, both before and during your run as DL. Now you can sit back and enjoy just being "one of the guys".
  24. Looking good, Steve. The forearms look much better this time around. Perhaps the thigh-mounted cartridge belt is mounted a bit too high on the leg, but that's just my observation. I realize that there are some details missing, but it definitely looks like you spent your time well as this armor looks good!
  25. I'm actually doing the same thing - picking up an AP kit. Perhaps we can help each other out during assembly.
