  1. Always loved your build threads Mark.
  2. Thread moved. The "tips and how-to's" section is for posting your tutorials, not asking for them.
  3. Sorry to hear that. But that's how real life is. I suppose I could source the grill part, but at the moment I have nothing and hope to source most of the parts in one go. All metal does make for a sturdier prop I theoreically could use for trooping (albeit heavy) rather than risk braking off fragile found-parts.
  4. Fun is fine with me. In the end, it's each garrison's event co-ordinator who makes the rules. But from a trooper perspective, as I mentioned, you might want to be more anonymous once you're out in the field. It's a lot different than the hypotetical situation new people imagine when they discuss it here. Speaking of prop collecting, do you still make aluminium parts for say finishing a denix mauser into a power 5 that needs some loving?
  5. Definitely. Neither am I trying to. I'm not even all that much against pauldrons per se. I don't think you should "mix and match" different costumes. That's all.
  6. If it comes to that, fine. Until then, nope. Either way, I doubt their armour will be pure OT. In which case, see my point about sw rebels.
  7. Not in group.
  8. An orange pauldron on a bright white armour is very easy to notice. Maybe that doesn't bother you as an onlooker. But I'm speaking from a trooper perspective while on a troop. Part of the appeal of the stormtrooper is anonymity while in a group. The unknown soldier.
  9. You also want to blend in with your trooper buddies. Don't be "that guy".
  10. Yes it is. And I'm not willing to spend the time or effort to wrap individual magnets in little cloth sacks that will only get in the way when I want to stack multiple magnets, for a project where they get used once and once the costume is done will spend the rest of the year in a cupboard/toolbox until the next costume comes around.
  11. Just wrap them in painters tape and have the tape make a pull tab if you need it. Those sachets look very nice, but it's the biggest overkill in costume-prep I've seen in a long time.
  12. AP has no website. But there is plenty of build threads here on the forum featuring it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. Don't know anything about them. So you're on your own. Don't get the need for symmetry either. It looks plain weird when they are symmetric. For what it's worth, the premium MR wasn't very symmetric or small either. You could just go with an AP kit instead. The collectors edition (MRCE) was symmetric, but not particularily small.
  14. They are yes. But it's mostly dependent on assembly. If large is what you want, have a look at RS. It has minimal shrinkage due to its direct lineage. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  15. What I did was put some glue on the inside edges of the kneeplate and the front of it that touches the coverstrip, then clamp it in place and kind of trickle more glue from the top into space between the edges of the kneeplate and the shin. You can do this in stages too.

  17. Don't know the size exact of the premium MR. But they ought to be pretty similar. As would any kit.
  18. If you absolutely must have a resin helmet instead of a quality ABS kit, there is sometimes resin casts of the DaveM helmet on ebay.

  20. CRL photo's have never been the definition of the CRL. The CRL is the text, not the pictures. Sometimes the pictures don't correspond with the CRL, but that's only because that's the best/only picture available at the time of creation. If you want it corrected, do something about it by providing better pictures and nag the staff to see it updated. But never use the pictures as a guide to what is acceptable.
  21. No need to worry about the holes ripping.
  22. You can just rub the E-6000 with your fingers. Eventuelly it will let go. But anything hard and pointy also works. Depending on location you may want to switch between a blade and a piece of scrap ABS.
  23. No worries. But do get a nice kit to build. It's not that hard. We have hundreds of threads showing how it's done. Anyone can do it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  24. You could make that argument and some would agree with that, but why recast a bad helmet anyway? Even the cheap kit helmets we support here are better than the MR (especially the collectors edition). Go to the "getting started" area, and read the pinned thread "The various types of armour and where to get them". Almost all of them will offer to sell you just the helmet. We also have some other makers who are yet to be "vetted" as trusted sellers and get on that list, but who are well on their way of getting there who offer kits in the for-sale area.
