  1. I own this armor. YOU MUST PASS IF YOU ARE GOING TO TROOP IN IT!!!! This armor is good for display only! The styrene is thin...REALLY thin. Once painted it looks wonderful and the molds are accurate. However, it got VERY brittle very fast. My first troop was in late June and the armor needs to be replaced. I have done MANY repairs, and finally had the kidney split right down the middle top to bottom. I had to already replace the legs with ATA's because the originals disintegrated. I learned the hard way..you get what you pay for. It will make an awsome display piece, but nothing more.
  2. RT MOD has long been directed toward "beefyer" troopers.
  3. I never was able to see that the brackets on the chest were taller. I got it now!!!! Thank you!!
  4. I have a two part question...outstanding build so far!!!!!!!(by the way) Anyhoo, For anyone thinking of investing in RS, could you hold the kidney and the ab plate together and grab a tailor's meauring tape and measure the inside diameter of the clamshell? I'm sure if someone made this level of commitment, they would want to find out beforehand if they would fit. I would not want to shim this armor. #2 part, on the strapping system for connecting the chest to the ab plate, how is this done when it seems like in all the pictures that the chest rests ON top of the ab plate but clearly hangs over in other pictures when the armor is worn?
  5. I've been trooping since June and I still make the "yeah" face with your eyebrows looking mean. Then I too realize the lid's on. Wait till you get that com system working and you get your first..."IT TALKS!" Congatulations, Bud! Welcome to a new world!
  6. No...I heard Dr. Frankenstein himself looked just like the FX helmet.
  7. I look at the FX and can't help but think...AAARRRRRR FIRE! BAD! (you know Frankenstein)
  8. There's another person that just posted a WTB for an FX helmet!
  9. Just to expand your options, RT-MOD has always been geared toward the "bigger trooper" . Just FYI
  10. Vern's on top of it. The holster should have a basic straight horseshoe type shape. Angled sides, flat bottom. The TD clips need to be wider and set farther apart. Armor fits you real well, though! Nice job on the helmet painted details!
  11. Again....correct me if I am wrong but from what I understand, the thumbprint was not originally intended on being there and was in fact a mistake.
  12. Nice!!!! I would think that if you had something "bicep shaped" inside and did this before gluing the halves together...gently heating it a little at a time and pressing against whatever is hard and bicep shaped, it might turn out well. Great job though...and thanks for chiming in, Tom!!
  13. Oh, Tom!!!!!!!!
  14. We are all aware that on the original armor there was only a "thumbprint" on the left bicep. Most armor you get now has them on both...except TM. Has any one "coaxed" their thumbprint out with a hobby iron or another heat source for more accuracy? I hope my information is up to date. Please put me up to date if it is not.
  15. Is there a Testors equivilent to french blue?
  16. The shim will basically occupy the area within the vertical ridge areas on either side of the rear of the shin.
  17. Are the gloves rubber as well? If that's the case, Karin (queen of the rubber hand guards) recommends loctite superglue for plastics with the primer pen. I used this and it worked amazingly!! Good luck with the new Baby!!!
  18. You got some beefy calves my friend! It looks like until all that running and calf workouts you are doing(right?) pays off, you'll need to build a shim that will bridge that gap. It's common for the calf to just touch on the bottom but have a gap at the top. Make your shim to conform to this by being larger at the top as well. So it'll look like a tall tri-angle. Velcro it in so when you calves shrink, you can remove it.
  19. Can't wait to see the pics!!!
  20. It won't break my bank to get both the white PVC cement and a tube of E6000. And try them both. I will follow up on the decision when I post the armor build in a few months. Thanks all for your help!!!
  21. For some reason it was the snap that was failing to remain...well..snapped. Perhaps the ones I used were too small (line 24's) anyway, I tried elastic strap instead of the nylon and the weight of the thigh itself pulled the thigh down making it ride lower than I wanted. I like the elastic/nylon combo. Moot point if using the garter system. I just need to settle on a nylon to ABS adhesive. Leaning toward white PVC cement right now.
  22. Now I'm stepping in what you're laying down! I thought nylon "webbing" was more like screen. It's in fact nylon strap. Same deal. But anyway, E6000 or ABS cement glues these to the armor?
  23. Yeah Eric...the squeeze kind. You can get them fairly small so that they won't be uncomfortable under the cod. Once they are "clicked" in, they're really strong. I can't visualize for the life of me your "nylon webbing snap plate" Any way you can post a pic?
