  1. Thanks for the info, Dan! Maybe I am not understanding you completely... I am trying to AVOID using snaps here at all. The strap will be sewn to the garter. One end of a small plastic clip will then be attached to that strap near the garter. The other side of that plastic clip will be attached to the nylon strap that will run to the top of the thigh. I will have nothing but nylon strap against the inside, top of the thigh. Paul already suggested ABS glue for this. I already have plasti-weld and am wondering if anyone has used this to bond nylon strap with ABS?
  2. The new armor will be ABS. How long did you need to let this set?
  3. I know that a lot/most troopers use a garter system for attaching their thighs at the top. I decided instead to try a small strap of nylon that connects between the inside of the ab plate and the top of the thigh. The male side being on the ab and thigh and the female side on the strap. This works very well unless excessive movement is required. I have had a couple "wardrobe malfunctions" that, with rubber chemical gloves on, are nothing short of a pain to re-attach. I am starting a new armor project soon and will go with the garter. However, I want to avoid the snap at the top of the thigh and use a plastic clip but a strap still needs to be attached to the top/inside of the thigh. What have you troopers used as an adhesive that bonds nylon to abs? Is it all E6000 or is there another option?
  4. Jim Sauter TK-6294 from star garrison in Texas ( I believe) sells an AKER amp system with a ptt cable at the end of a cord that is long enough to run down your arm. The speaker is deafening. When the PTT button is pushed, it gives a loud "click" just like in the original ANH and the same click when released. I positioned the speaker on my chest just high enough that the sound comes out the top of my chestpiece and sounds like it's coming out of the helmet. Just this last weekend, I did a troop for a toy fair at Navy Pier in Chicago. The loudspeaker system went down and they asked me to get the attention of the breakfast crowd because my speaker was so loud....BEHIND MY CHESTPIECE!!Everyone that comments says "Wow..your helmet has the speakers, too!!" The unit is rechargeable and once you get the volume dialed in...feedback doesn't happen. Contact jim at [email protected]
  5. Don't crucify the blasters totally guys!! I gotta sell the one I have!!!
  6. Nice job!! How'd you get the rear cap off? Did you need to mahe any other mods for the real parts or did they just slide in?
  7. When I hold a deacted sterling....I'll get bak to you! If someone has one......VERN!...throw it on a scale and we'll compare!
  8. I respect blaster snobs!! I have a great scatchbuilt E-11 but also own a MR. No case just the styrofoam. I was thinking about getting rid of it seeing what they've been fetching on yuckbay. But I just wanted to check to get peoples' opinions on them.
  9. I was just wondering why there is never any mention of Master Replicas blasters? They are nice and although no counter, cylinders or wires are accurate. Are they just a bad word around here? No charging handle or visible spring either.....anyway...
  10. Also you need to realize that it is mostly pressure itself that keeps it on. Once you get it set onto the rim of the helmet, you cant cut it exact. You need to give it about 3/8 inch extra and really push it on. Kind of compress it all around until the "extra" fits together. That compression holds it on. Don't doubt Trooperbay. He'll make it right!!
  11. Hmmmmm my guess is that you will going for centurion next? Nice armor, man!!!! You should be proud!!!
  12. Kudos to you,Brian for sticking with John on his build!!! You're a good egg!! Keep up the good work, John.
  13. Way to keep the playing field level, Paul!!
  14. You were born to be in that armor!!!! Nice build...nice result!! Well done!
  15. How did you get the old parts off and how did you adhere the new parts to the main tube?
  16. I just can't get over how shiny the stuff is!
  17. You should make a run of parts once you've ironed things out. Can you find me a tutorial on how to make a laser cutter for $30??
  18. I've watched a lot of "ghost hunter" shows.....do you see the ghost "orbes"? Theres one on his head and a big one in the upper right of the pic...you house is haunted, Dude!!!! Try to connect!!!! LOL
  19. Your finishing strips on the legs are bigger than the forearms and biceps. On both the shins and thighs, the strips are 20mmin front and 25mm in back.
  20. Don't get your heart...or your bum set on it. A good lean looks way cooler and causes much fewer cracks.

    Dwolla

    Didn't Bibb Fortuna say..."Dwolla wonga"?
  22. It is kind of impractical. Foam (like Terry said) is much more comfy and works well with the screw on style of the lid. Hardhat liners work well in FX helmets because of their hugeness.
