  1. Here's a couple of mine, from the front and back. It's an MR CE. ----------

    Gas prices

$3.99 for regular, here in NC. I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler which costs me about $65 to fill up and gets about 12mpg here in and around our small town. My wife and I are looking into trading in our 2000 Cherokee (which gets around 20.5mpg, at best) on a small car, like a Kia or Mazda. Can't afford the Honda's and Toyota's.
  3. Here is a pic of the actual helmet you receive, next to an FX. This is my buddy's helemt that told me about this link in the first place:
  4. I know there was a thread on here about taking one of those things apart, but I just cannot find it. I was thinking of trying to use the board and mic in my new MR bucket, but I need some help in modifiying the speaker pos and neg wires for the two mic tips, versus the one large speaker inside the amp. I'm not very good with electronics and wiring, so any help anyone could give would be awesome. Thank guys!!!
  5. Hi all! I haven't been on in a while, cause, well.......I confess, I've been working on my CLONE costume. Yeah, I said clone. Anyway, I wised-up and got back on my beautiful suit of white and I recently happened upon a link from a garrison-mate that featured Master Replicas CE Stormtrooper helmets for $90!! Yep, you heard right... $90!!! Anyway, I received mine today, and am very happy with it. I intend to trick it out, like my FX, with all internal fans, mic, mini-amp, etc. Plus I'm going to eventually replace the lenses. They're not as dark as my FX lenses, and I want my eyes to show through. In case no one else has already posted it, here's the link: --------- Shipping was SUPER fast! I live in NC, and it shipped from CA in 2 days! WOW! It's while supplies last, so happy hunting!!!
  6. Hi Alex, Here is a link to lenses just like I purchased: ----- They are about 1/8" thick, so they are super rigid, and very easy to see through.
  7. I used a foam liner from a skateboard helmet. Just used a Dremel to cut away the outer shell. Had to trim away the top, on the back side, to get it to fit inside the helmet, but it, at least, makes the helmet halfway comfortable to wear.
  8. Anyone ever put on the thigh and shin armor and realize you forgot the boots? Been there, done that! Never thought about putting on the belt before the chest armor, but it makes sense.
  9. I used two 3ft.-long pieces on elastic and glued each end of them to the front and back inside's of each thigh. I just criss-cross the elastic over my chest and back. I actually use suspenders for the ab and kidney setup. They are the 2"-wide AWP suspenders from Lowe's with heavy-duty clamps on the ends. just trim a small slit, on on each side at the top, of the ab plate and one on each side at the top of the kidney plate. I leave one side of the PVC pipe jacketing open and put on the plates sideways and slip the suspenders over my head. The clamps stay closed, so there's no need to ever undo them. If anyone is interested, I can take some pics this evening and post.
  10. Hi Paul! It's official! TK-9805 requesting 501st access. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember...cfm?userID=8795
  11. Hang in there Steve. I just got my approval today. It has been about a week since I submitted my application, but I also e-mailed my GML directly to make sure he got my application. This seems to help "speed up" the process a little. I'm waiting on my TK I.D. number now. Apparently that comes separately. I would e-mail the GML for your garrison directly and ask. You can get their info off the 501st website. Just go to the Garrison and Units page and scroll down till you see your garrisons name and symbol.
  12. I ordered the one from TrikToys.com. It it $56+/-. The think I really liked is that it has the zipper in the back to get in it, but it also has a "fly" zipper, so you don't have to completely undress to pee. With the way my cod-piece is attached to the abs, by two elastic strips, I can just flip it up, out of the way. The neckseal that Eric sells is also made of the same material as the suit, so when you have them both on, you don't notice the seam nearly as much.
  13. I have two, a boy and a girl. The girl is ADHD and is sometimes difficult to deal with because of her "hyperness". (Not that I love her ANY less! ) I agree with the sad situation in America as to what is and what is not allowed as discipline. If I spank either of my kids in a public place, the Social Service cops are probably going to be knocking down my door that same day! How the heck are we supposed to maintain order, when we are afraid of getting our kids taken away by the government for simply trying to teach them right from wrong? Doesn't seem to me that I turned out too badly, and my dad was a VERY strict disciplinarian. Anyways, on the guns issue, I agree that caution is the best policy. There isn't anything we can do about past happenings. The general public has been scared to death by the media and even big retailers, like Wal-Mart, have pulled any toy guns, except in rare occasions, from shelves. Face it folks, guns are not "going away", and they are certainly not going to amend the Constitution to do away with firearms ownership. We must simply keep in mind that there is a heightened sense of awareness on firearms and when we troop, we must observe courtesy to folks by making sure that they know that ours are purely props.
  14. Thanks Mark. I have e-mailed the RPF three times to ask about registration and still no response. Good to know!
  15. You know, I think this is one of the best threads I have read on this site. I loved Wally's quote: "Now that was a great discussion. Spot on in my opinion the issue of representing an Icon because that's what people see. They don't see my giant FX bucket as being slightly big (which it is) they just enjoy suspending reality for that brief second to relive a childhood memory." This is EXACTLY what the 501st is about! I still aim to apply for Elite status eventually, but it's for MY staisfaction, NO ONE ELSE! I am a huge fan of as-accurate-as-possible armor, but when it comes right down to it, it's the joy of lighting up a kid's face that makes every penny worth it. Besides, did you ever really look at the screen-uesd armor? I don;t think any two suits are alike!
  16. Here you go Craig, The cop get's the last word... British Cops Two men are driving through London when they get pulled over by a cop. The cop walks up and taps on the window with his stick. The driver rolls down the window and WHACK, the officer smacks him in the head with the stick. The driver asks, "What the hell was that for?" The officer answers, "You're in London son. When we pull you over, you better have your license ready when we get to your car." The driver says, "I'm sorry, Officer, I'm not from around here." The officer does a check on the driver's license, and he's O.K.. He gives the man his license back, walks around to the passenger side and taps on the window. The passenger rolls down the window and WHACK, the officer smacks him on the head with the stick. The passenger asks, "What'd you do that for?" The officer says, "Just making your wish come true." The passenger asks, "Making what wish come true?" The officer says, "I know that two miles down the road you're gonna say to your friend here, "I wish that a*shole would've tried that sh*t with me!"
  17. Just wondering.... what's the "ANH Accurate" trooper doing with ESB hand-plates? You didn't put that text on the photo did you Bernard? (Just pickin'. I read your typed text above.)
  18. Guns, This is one of the best responses yet, IMO. These boards are full of arguments, disagreements, or whatever you want to call them over what type of armor is best. I am far from an expert, actually I was happier when I was more ignorant. Anyway, as with any hobby, there is a logical place to start. Some folks like to jump in with both feet and just have fun, some are a little more cautious and just stick in one leg to see how they like it, and a few stick in one toe, back up and re-examine things. In my case, I'm more of the middle-ground. When researching for my armor, I looked at different suits, e-mailed and communicated with different vendors and researched some more. I learned that some armors were "more accurate" than others and some were better built than others. I also learned that there are some dealers that I would rather go to the trouble of making my own vacu-form table and molds than to buy from! Underneath it all though, I am just a simple guy (married 13 years, two kids, mortgage, two dogs, three cars.....etc.). I am also simple to please. In so many things, I have strived SO hard to get to the point I feel is the best, only to find that there wasn't as much satisfaction to be had as I thought there would be. All this is why I went with FX first. I look at the FX kit as a challenge, not a hindrance. It fits my budget, it has places that can be improved upon, and seeing as how I am just starting out in SW costuming, if I screw up, it's not as big a deal as if I cut a TE2 or an AP, and it's a great learning experience too. You will never hear me outright bash any armor types, because they're just like us, all different. That is what makes costuming great! There is an attempt at coming as close to screen as possible. It's called Elite. Anything less should have minimum standards, but those standards should be set by the legion, not a garrison, not a region and certainly not a few individuals. I've said all that, to say this. Please don't be fooled into thinking I am FX-is-best. I know it isn't. If I had my way, there would be no bashing of any one type of armor, only praise for those who are talented enough to sculpt, mold and form the armor styles we have. (Even if some of them need a good knock off their high-horse.) So, let folks strive to achieve Elite status and let them strive to do the best they can on building their armor; just don't pick apart their choices because of our own personal biases. (Stomped that soapbox flat...)
  19. Those ARE nice. I get paid tomorrow, so maybe I can pick up a pair of these or CABoots.
  20. And, IMO, Thank God for that!!! Not to bash anyone, but you're talking about a LOT of troopers that would not take to kindly to being told they have to replace their armor. I have several friends who have worn FX armor for years and are very much aware that it is not 100% accurate, but they wear it and love it, nevertheless. It's good enough for them, and it's good enough for me. Now, what does that say about me? It says I love Star Wars enough to spend several C-notes on a nice costume and do my best to make it look as good as I can with what materials and funds I have available. Period. Anyone that says otherwise can kiss my butt-plate. Mike, don't let ANYONE try to tell you what's right for you. It's totally your decision, and if that decision is FX, then so be it. On a side note, yes I do intend to upgrade my FX bucket, but I have no plans to do that in the near future. Far more important things await! (Steps off soap box and moves away for next in line...)
  21. . I really hate that happened to you Craig. That's so sad that someone has nothing better to do than bash members of our police and patrol forces. It's good to hear that the post was removed. Just stand proud and know that you are the better person, though. I wish you the best in getting everything straightened out.
  22. Those are really nice. Just wondering though, in polishing/painting either brown or black boots, how well does the polish/paint hold up? How many troops can you get from a polishing? Anybody know?
