1. Don't know which helmet they cast from, but based on the Aluminum bucks they scanned a helmet in 3D and "cleaned up" the data. Either by smoothing and refining the model in the software or modelling it from scratch. It's the modeller / artist / CAD operator that is making these refinements based on direction and feedback from Anovos. Then they CNCd out the Aluminum bucks. I'm not saying I know this as fact of what they did, its more just from me looking at their photos and videos and my experience with 3D and manufacturing.
 2. I would suggest buying a smaller chest and back from one of the other makers. It would save a lot of time and headache as you can only trim so much and keep things proportional.
 3. Yep, the right is miluch bigger than the left. Order 2 rights.
 4. Personally, I suggest trimming: shoulders, back, chest, kidney, ab and butt. Then trim and assemble biceps, forearms, thighs and calves. Then rig up the torso and assemble it. Gets your feet wet with researching the trim areas and cutting them out first. The bicep is a good start since its a cylinder with 2 cover strips. Most of the other limbs are similar.
 5. What are you trying to get approval for?
 6. Glad you enjoyed it. There was a call out for interested garrisons. I replied to a thread a while back and we are the first garrison featured. There's also a mission reports sub forum on the legion boards, they usually take articles from there for inclusion in their monthly ish podcasts.
 7. The Outer Rim Garrison was featured as the first Garrison in the "Know A Legion" interview series on the latest 501stcast.

http://podcast.501stlegion.org/admin/2016/01/22/501stcast-episode-91-january-21st-2016-the-jakku-experience/

I did an interview with Doc Bev / Nicky Blum. Our interview starts at the 33:18 mark of the podcast. Check it out!

Terry / Pandatrooper
 8. Do you mean trimming the helmet? Most tools can be seen or described in the photos.

I used a Dremel with a cutoff wheel for the eye holes. The rest is cut with curved Lexan scissors.

You should have no problem buying the paints, brushes, tape, rivets, rivet gun etc. Locally.
 9. The height of the brow and how the faceplate hinges varies in the films. It's more or less up to you but in the movie the heroes had slightly lower brows. It wouldn't affect 501st basic acceptance.

In my experience, I originally liked the hero look but the bubble lenses gave me headaches. I switched to stunt for the flat lenses.
 10. Imo, in Faolains post - the first photo is correct with the bigger flared end meeting the back armor.
 11. Someone should edit the title in this thread, there are major spoilers in it for those that haven't seen it yet
 12. Another homage to the new designation---------------
 13. Looks great Ingrid! Nice work!

Is this still the Alclad version or have you done the silver nitrate chroming?
 14. IMO: sand with 400 then 600 to take down the bumps, wash with dish detergent to remove oils, prime with a filler primer, sand again. If there's exposed spots from sanding prime with regular primer. Then base coat white, then gloss white. Let it dry a week, wet sand if needed. Stick to the same brands of paint and avoid humid days.
 15. Once you have the one rivet joining the cap and back, add a second one in the valley of the cheek tube where it will be covered by the ear cover. This will prevent the helmet from shifting and creaking.

Be careful with hot glue, too much or too hot will distort the plastic.
 16. Heat it gently with a heat gun, this will soften the glue - works great on E6000. Then just pry it off. Rub off the excess glue. Re trim the button plate and glue it back on.
 17. No,they are referring to business partners. Licensees etc. This means Hasbro, DK Books, etc.
 18. This is the latest from LFL:

"Hello once again everyone,

I’ve got another clarification that should hopefully clear up some of the questions we’ve been receiving. I also want to take this opportunity to more fully explain Disney/Lucasfilm’s position in this matter, as it seems some do not fully understand why this request is being made.

To clarify, we are not questioning our fans’ judgement regarding props and weapons use, we simply don’t think it is appropriate to be appearing in high profile places with prop weapons in light of recent events in Paris. It’s about being sensitive to the events and current situation of a heightened threat around the globe.

That said, we are slightly adjusting our request to fan groups -- we are respectfully requesting that the display of prop weapons, specifically those that look like guns (including holstered guns), not be used for character appearances which have been requested by Lucasfilm, Disney, or our partners. For event appearances not requested by Lucasfilm, Disney or our partners, we would prefer this request be respected but will leave it up to the members’ discretion to decide how they’d like to proceed. Lucasfilm would still appreciate notification for the usual types of events that require approvals, such as retail, corporate, and media.

Thanks all – I really appreciate your understanding in this matter and hope this clears up at least some of the questions we’ve been receiving.

Pete Vilmur
Senior Writer & Fan Relations
Lucasfilm"
 19. What kit is it? Most people leave the majority of the returns except for mild portions of the arms and full removal of the return at the wrists.
 20. Plastic weld or ABS glue if used quickly and carefully will work. Practice on a scrap first.
