  2. Strapping and Rigging - Gloves, Fingers and Hand Plates One of the unique Phasma things is the finger armour. The TFA version has the finger rings, but the TLJ version has half-finger plates. I haven't really seen much in terms of how others have solved this other than gluing the finger plates to the glove. My concern with glue was that hands flex a lot and that means that it's more likely that the glue will flex and fail. While discussing with one of my Garrison members, he suggested making rings that I could slide on over the gloves. I loved this idea and it was going to be my solution with a little tack of stitching to keep the rings in place (So I didn't have to figure out which plate went where). Ultimately I decided on a half-ring solution. a) Because full rings might cut off circulation b) Because I didn't want much of the elastic to be visible. I'm pretty happy with the results!

  4. Definitely feel for you, I hope this time you have better luck, nothing as frustrating as an electronic device constantly having issues even after being fixed, I went through that with a mobile phone 🤬

  5. To say it is frustrating would be an understatement. I am using the Acker amp that was suggested to use with it. Amp and mic are working fine. The last one did the endless ticking sound and the second one would only produce the static when using the button option but it wouldn't pass the voice to the amp so useless on both fronts. It couldn't be switched between modes, that didn't work either. It goes back tomorrow and I'm out about $80 in shipping here and back. Again. The first one went back and forth for a repair which I also had to pay for only to have it fail a second time. Maddening. I wanted it working again for mid-March for my first troop of the year, but that's not going to happen now. Bart

  8. Hi Kaden, and thank you for your Centurion application! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Centurion. The arm gaskets look much better with the modifications you made. Congratulations!

  9. I see the issue with the forearm now. The image on the CRL is actually correct, there are 3 stripes it's just not very obvious as it's 2 different arms in the image. https://databank.501st.com/databank/File:TK_incinerator_forearms.jpeg It can't be the same arm as if they where rotated the same then the cover strip trim angles don't match. So it's both cover strips and one in the middle opposite the "bump". This is not correct however: It should be: Special unit details in red shall be present in the form of three vertical stripes, running the length of the forearm. One in the front and one in the back (cover strip area), and one between the cover strips on the smooth side of the forearm. For the bicep something like: Special unit details in red shall be present in the form of two vertical stripes, running the length of the bicep. One in the front and one in the back (cover strip area). There is a red band around the top of the inner side of the bicep. That's an easy enough fix for us. We will need a new image for the bicep though. Once the LMOs are ratified for the new term we can get this one updated.

  11. Strapping and Rigging - Torso / Kidney For securing the torso (which I've also been calling kidney - sorry for the switching!) I decided to use a slightly different technique than I've seen so far. A lot of the TKs I've helped with gearing up use large velcro panels or other strapping. Part of the thing I've always struggled with is trying to adjust things to close evenly while the velcro keeps sticking to itself. My solution is inspired by corset lacing. This allows for individual adjustment while still giving support at all levels. I started with D Ring hooks for picture frames (OOK Large 2-Hole D-Ring Hangers Value Pack) I tried to get even spacing on both sides and glued them down with E6000. Then I grabbed a pack of reusable cable ties (VELCRO 8 -inch X 1/2 -inch Reusable Ties) as the adjustable strapping. I did have to upgrade to 12 inch ties just to give some extra room during the initial lacing. I did end up covering the D ring attachment points with felt to make sure I wasn't getting scratched or irritated by the metal.

  12. Well i think I finally managed to get it to match the top sides and make it look ok when seeing it face on.

  13. Thanks everyone, I ordered my Walt's armor kit today, and am looking forward to starting my build thread and getting your guidance on trimming to fit and the different strapping systems I have reading about. Daetrin, are you anywhere near the Appleton area by chance?

  14. I like the trick with the elastic to webbing join. Not seen that before, clever.

  15. With my first one I used clamps, magnets and tape to pull straight. You can have a gap under the front so don't worry too much about that, being slightly to one side is fine also, it's more the top to worry about
