Looking sharp, Bobby! As you mentioned, there are always a few tweaks here and there, and nothing jumps out too much.. mostly strapping issues. I know it was your first time suiting up, but to add to what Steven mentioned, I would suggest: 1. The ABS belt should come up quite a bit. I see that the snaps are there, but Velcro will work as well. 2. If possible, the shoulder bells could come in to where the tops touch the shoulder bridges. If not, no biggie. 3. The biceps definitely need to come up. They should not overlap the forearm. 4. I noticed that your sniper knee is getting caught behind the bottom of the thigh. A common problem that can be remedied by adding a foam strip behind the top of the calf (along the seam) to help push it out. 5. The thighs look a little low and uneven. These can be raised, which would also help with the sniper knee plate overlap. These are just suggestions, but they will definitely give you a better, more screen accurate look. If you need help with anything, just let us know!2 points

Hey guys! I'm not dead! lol 6 months of chemo and some TLC later I'd thought id post an update. So far its looking like I'm in the clear. Had 2 doctors appointments checking in with scans so far and they have come out good. Hair is growing back and I feel like my old self again except now I weigh more D: So before I can get going on my armor again I need to lose the stomach. But I'm still here! Missed out on the Centurion stuff I know...but thats okay. My #1 goal after all was just to get my armor finished and approved! One day it'll happen!2 points

In looking at the screen used ones below, the sheen is minimal (this could be from lots of use, though). However, the pic on the far right shows that there was a reflection, even if it is only slight. I think you will be fine with semi-gloss. Just try to make sure the total width (with caps attached) stays very close to 7 ½ inches (190 mm).1 point

In the meantime, I’ve been making some magnetic tabs to keep my ab & kidney plates from moving relative to each other. I’ve noticed that one or the other often rides up so that their tops are not aligned. One way to fix this would be double snaps on 2” webbing as my build has only 1”. But I thought I’d use the resources I have on hand instead. Using some black ABS this time, I cut out thin strips and, using a heat iron, created an S bend in each. Each will hold a magnet on one end that is glued to the other plate.1 point

The gap is due to me just putting tape between the front and back with no one to help me line them up. The arm opening are big but that's due to that chest not being able to move back in an angle. I'm printing another chest piece right now where I manged to angle the top of the chest back, but will see how it goes. Also the tape really doesn't help keeping it in place on me1 point

I never saw your build before today and am LOVING that latest update with the white paint. Seriously impressive and a gorgeous set of armor. As for bucket build, I recently re-worked mine and posted in my thread. I think this is the right link. I didn't wanna yuck up your thread with pix of my own stuff. Check the pic then my description should make sense. Basically, my whole bucket is lined with velcro. The top side has fuzzy and the rest has hook. No pad on the top. The fuzzy is all my head needs for padding. I used to have a pad on either side in the upper head area. My ICOMM and amp sat on either side of the head near my ears. I use one of those cylinder USB packs and it sat in the very back of the bucket behind the UKSwrath plastic fan holder thing. This configuration worked and everything fit, but the weight was low and that battery at the back slowly tugged my helmet back and obscured vision. So I removed everything and relocated the ICOMM and amp to the top in place of the padding. I gave the outside some fuzzy velcro as padding and was amazed that the helmet actually fit better and more securely. My head touches both boxes and the forehead padding and matching back padding (can't really be seen) keeps things comfy. The weight is now all up high which makes the helmet feel lighter as it isn't dangling around my ears anymore. The USB pack got relocated to behind the vocoder. It isn't totally hidden like before with the back mounting, but it balances the helmet much more nicely. It's much easier to swap out and charge. And it keeps a bit of forward pressure on the helmet so the eyes aren't migrating up my forehead. Wiring: 2 wires from the ICOMM run straight down and around the back. Then they go up to the am in the same path. The USB pack has a plug right there at the side basically behind the speaker tip. All the loose wire hides behind that fan mounting plastic. Does that help at all?1 point

I have a few tutorials under my avatar below which will help as well, the main one is the supply list for your build (link here). AM makes an awesome kit, and I look forward to following your build! If I could offer some advice, it would be: 1. Take... your... time. Rushing leads to mistakes. Trust me. 2. When in doubt, always ask before cutting/gluing. Adding photos of any issues will help a LOT! 3. Never be shy about asking questions, no matter how small or how many. To quote Glen, "There are no silly questions, only silly mistakes".1 point

NEW Detachment Leader Merchandise Hall of Fame Just For Laughs Update Your Build Threads Around the Detachment Competition INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS Common FISD Acronyms and TK Glossary Pre Approval Forum 3D Section Field Exercise Award Imperial Attaché Program Fire Teams EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Greetings Troopers, we have another info packed newsletter for you again this month, I hope you find something interesting or new. I'd like to start by thanking gmrhodes13 (Glen) for the effort he continually puts into updating the content and keeping our newsletters fresh, packed with detachment info, and a good read for everyone. Let's get down to business. Yep it's November and we have a lot of exciting stuff to get through as holiday season approaches. It's been a busy year thus far and it's not about to stop with several plans we need to drive into action to have time up our sleeves before Chinese new year, Feb elections and Celebration in May. justjoseph63 (Joseph) has launched a design competition for the official FISD Celebration 2022 patch. If you are feeling creative, please post your designs in the thread as soon as possible. Full details further on in this edition. The Legion merch team have also announced they will start approving celebration merch as of 1st Dec so the quicker we can get something together the sooner we can seek approval and get the run going. We always offer up free merch to the winner and of course kudos, and some great bragging rights. We want more merch I hear you say!! The FISD detachment shirt run will kick off things going to plan in early January. If we want shirts in troopers hands before May we need to strike, but before we can get there, a couple of things need to fall in place. 1. Design. Due to time restraints we have a small window to decide on our standard design as per the last run, or a design that includes something about our 15th anniversary. 2. We need a volunteer to helm the run. If we can hit those marks early, we can get the shirt approved before December is out, and indeed get the shirt run underway on time in early Jan. Are you ready to step up to the plate and help your fellow troopers? Other projects. Tri fold brochures are on the agenda, and the timing is right. We are bringing the famous FISD Tri fold back with a thread currently open in the forums and designs being discussed and samples posted. The originals were done back in 2012 so an update is certainly due, specially with more and more troops and conventions firing up, these brochures are an awesome tool for recruiting and bringing new people onto the forums and into our garrisons. If you would like to join the conversation, you can find it Here in the 501st members section here FISD special anniversary project. Not the official announcement quite yet, but we are moving closer to the reveal. There are still a couple of hops to jump through, but I really hope to have something for you all very soon. In the mean time we thank you for your patience. Hi there, First of all , amazing build you have achieved. I too started off building a whole TK suit out of Eva foam. Had the same experiences as you with plastidip paint too. The experience I gained led me to take the plunge and buy a vac formed 1.5mm abs kit and build it myself. I found all the previous skills learned actually made the abs kit build easier and built it in far less time than the Eva foam version. Can’t recommend it enough. You will also be able to join the 501st ranks and troop with your local squad or garrison. But until then enjoy what you’ve achieved. Well done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
