Hi all,

just a quick question regarding EIB requirements since I'm only one part away (waiting for my soft goods belt) from applying for elite (ANH stunt):

is it okay if the D-ring is part of the resin cast and immobile? I have a resin cast of an original sterling with all the extras (hengstler, t-tracks, mag cylinders) and was wondering if the endcap ring has to be functional for elite status.

Thanks in advance!

Not really my friend.

for as long as the part is represented correctly it won't matter if it's not functional. Same goes for the stock, trigger and magazine.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Guess I'm good to go then. :)

However... going into the comitment of a functional part is what's seen as going beyond the call of duty here. ;)

what's more important is to find a balance between what's required and what you like these being the lowest the first and the highest the latter.

reach the requirement level and start trooping and then keep raising the quality of your equipment and armor until you reach the highest level you can get for your personal satisfaction.

Cheers and good luck!

P.D.

please excuse any typhos! :P

Very well but!!!! Slowly but surely things that today are A-ok with "YOU" in regards with your armor are going to start to bug u as time goes by and u will start to tinker with your armor almost after ever troop, and with all the new ideas and armor build methods that are beeing used. So sooner or later it wont be strange if your d-ring get modified by a funcional one...... but like Dragas said its a personal choice.

If you mail it to me, I could tell for sure ;-)

** but yeah, it need not be functional. It's a prop after all...

My D ring mod.

I guess you'd call this the Above and beyond mod!

D Ring, and e-11 mods

gallery_2173_220_10109.jpg

I carefully used a dremel and cut off the original D ring cast into the resin. my resin copy had

a D ring that was carefully sculpted to be raised a lot more than some other cast rings

I've seen before. I used a tan cutting/sanding wheel.

The D ring I used comes with a locking nut that threads onto both sides.

I screwed the locking nut all the way open and cut off the

exposed threads. Then I unscrewed the locking nut almost off.

then I cut off the other threaded side leaving about 2-3 threads for a bite

on each side.

I pre drilled with the smallest bit, about 1/16th inch all the way through the mount

then I milled with a milling bit the correct size and depth about 2/16ths wide and

about 1/8" deep.

Then I bent the Ring outwards just enough to fit one side in. and then fit the other

side in... and compressed the ring sideways until it matched it's original shape.

pressing inwards towards the center of the ring.

hope this little Mod inspires you all to get out that dremel again!

regards,

vern

It sure does, that's what I'm gonna do as an upgrade soon. All I need is some wire in the correct thickness. Thanks!
