Quick Question About Application Timelines

I was just wondering how long the application approval process typically takes. I submitted mine back in September and received prompt feedback regarding the application and the specific photos needed, which I provided via a shared Google photo album. However, I haven’t heard anything since.

I followed up by email about a week ago to ask if any additional photos were needed or if I should resubmit anything, but I haven’t received a response yet.

Does anyone know what the usual timeline is for approvals? Or what I should be doing next if I don't hear anything from this Garrison Liaison.?

It really depends on your GML (garrison membership liaison) and also the LMO's (legion membership officers) both take part in the process. 

 

Locally our approvals are from 1 day to 1 week so I would definitely get in touch with your local command and request guidance.

 

If you don't hear from your GML I would contact the GCO (garrison commanding officer)

Which garrison is it you've applied to? There's a reasonable chance someone here will be a member and might be able to nudge for you.

As GML, I never take more than 2 days to respond. There is definitely a problem with your request, perhaps your email went straight to spam folder...

I am trying to get my TK number from the 501st legion first for my ANH Stunt Stormtrooper. My garrison would be the Canadian Garrison and tried to join the 501st.ca forum, but they require a TK number to complete the application. I ended up filling out an application here https://www.501st.com/members/join_form.php and then got an email with instructions : 

 

"Greetings recruit!

Thank you for your interest in joining the 501st Legion! In order to complete your application, I will need the following full-body, hi-resolution photos of you in your costume:
1. Front
2. Back
3. Left Side
4. Right Side
5. Front, helmet off (if applicable)
6. Pose for the Legion Profile

Please take the pictures in strong natural light, with minimal to no shadows, against a solid contrasting background. Please upload these images to a hosting site. We may also ask for additional photos during the review process. You are welcome to reply to all for assistance, or simply email me directly with any further questions regarding your application.

I emailed them back right away with the link to the photos, but I never received a response. Since you mentioned the process shouldn’t take this long, I’m wondering if I should resubmit my application?

It's a 2 part process,

1: You have to fill out the membership forum on the 501st legion https://www.501st.com/members/join_form.php also supply 5 sets of ID numbers of your choice from he list of available numbers http://www.501st.com/members/search_avail_ids.php

 

2: Next you supply photos of you in costume (and also a buckets off) to your GML (garrison membership liaison)

Should not be just one link, you should send separate links to each of the required photos.

Front, Side, Back, Side, Action, Helmet off

All should be full length with a solid background (guide on backgrounds here 

Doesn't hurt to check in with your GML to enquire if there is anything else they require.

 

FYI I tried singing up on their forum and it did not require a TKID, just needs approval from staff so you may want to check again https://www.501st.ca/forum/index.php?action=register

I am aware that its a two step process as it is the 2nd part that I am getting dead air on. The GML (Aiden Smit, 78202) sent that email I mentioned above after I submitted my application on the website. I then sent a email with a link to a Google Photo Album which contained all photos except for 5. Front, helmet off because it said if applicable and I running a stormtrooper. I later tried emailing him again asking if there is anything else I need to do as I haven't heard anything about my application and that was nearly two weeks ago. 

 

As for the 501st.ca forum membership yes you can apply without a TK number but after I got the following message: 

 

"Hello

I noticed that you have registered to be a member of the 501st.ca forums. Note that these forums are for Canadian 501st members. Please respond with your TK number so I can confirm that you are a member.

Note that member’s names should include their TK number to be more easily identifiable.

I am actually the GML for the Canadian garrison,  I must apologize, as we usually are much quicker on getting approvals done.  Somehow your response got missed or lost.  I will look into it right away and get in touch with you.
