themaninthesuitcase[Admin] Posted October 2, 2025 Report Posted October 2, 2025 https://www.theverge.com/news/788823/imgur-uk-users-blocked-ico-investigation Obviously this only affects us in the UK, but given FISDs defacto image hosting is Imgur, this is more than a little inconvenient. It can be bypassed with a VPN, but that's not a free option so I will have to look into what I will be doing about it. 4 Quote

Sithping[TK] Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 This imgur debacle is a pain in the... The Whitearmor forum is a field of broken threads to viewers in the UK. Sad times, I enjoyed viewing my fellow Troopers photos of their latest troop logs. Only hope anything official posted by the Detachment is viewable for all members? Quote
themaninthesuitcase[Admin] Posted October 6, 2025 Author Report Posted October 6, 2025 It takes me back to the bad old days of the Photobucklet apocalypse. I am hoping someone folds, but I can imagine both being stubborn enough to not. Quote
themaninthesuitcase[Admin] Posted December 31, 2025 Author Report Posted December 31, 2025 I'm currently trying https://freeimage.host/ which seems "pretty good actually" but will reserve judgement until I've used it a bit more. Quote

But seriously why would they do this and I wonder if it’ll be reversed It’s due to some well intended and not well implemented legislation to protect children from graphic imagery and video. The government will not back down any time soon I wouldn’t expect. Affected site need to implement a proof of age system using card payment systems, which is not exactly great, and imgur basically don’t want to. So to prevent legal hassle they just block to the UK. Not sure why other image sites work, but that’s what’s going on. 1 Quote
