Hello all! I am currently working on a build for the FISD Palmetto Garrison in South Carolina. The armor is ANH stunt armor from Dave's Dark Side Depot and have hit a few snags. Mainly with getting it to fit and be able to move without issue. I have downloaded the CRL and have printed out pictures for reference but being my first time ever doing this, I still could use some help. I am looking for other troopers in the area that may have more experience and could offer suggestions, please. I have attached the first pics in the armor for reference.

Thanks in advance,

Sean S.

Hi there we do have an area for Pre Approvals but you can still get feedback in this post ;)

Looks like a few fitment issues:

Chest is not covering the abdomen, tighter strapping perhaps

You could even out the gaps between elbow and wrist, forearm very close to hand guards

Belt could come down a little from the CRL

The top of the ABS belt shall sit at or just above the bottom of the central and vertical ab button panels.  A slight overlap is suggested, but not required

Sniper knee plate is sitting under your thigh, adding some foam behind the sniper plate can usually help keep it away from the thigh. Also rotate the thigh to the front.

You could also rotate your shoulders inwards.

Looks like your drop boxes are not aligned with the end of the plastic belt

Posterior gap, being pushed backwards, tighter strapping may help

Thigh is not centered, has rotated

Generally the shoulder straps should be mounted on the chest with 1 large tab and 4 to 4 1/5 small tabs

Gap between back and kidney, tighter strapping perhaps

The top of the TD should sit level (or slightly) higher than the top of the canvas belt.

Detonator needs to be rotated to see more of the O detail, and also come down on the belt.

Also check the detonator gaps

Thigh and shin should be rotated so the cover strips are centered.

Thigh rear cover strip on an angle

Watch any overhanging coverstrips, they can catch on other pieces when moving around. You can take off the corners of the cover strip, cut at angle or rounded, users choice

There is excess material around your shoulder straps, normally a few mm is all that is needed

Can't quite make it out but check your teeth paint is not on the gums

For Basic approval and above, Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area.  Eight total teeth on the frown are cut out.

Please also note the taper on the ends of the frown.

Mainly just some fitment issues, some of these items are for higher level approval your GML not require some of them, good luck with approval :salute::duim:

Good advice above. Keep in mind it'll all depend ultimately on your local GML. I don't know anyone in your area but have you been able to reach out to your Palmetto Garrison?

Hello Sean! You look great, good job! :D The above advice is great, so try to adjust according to that as much as you can and you'll notice a considerable difference!

Raising the ab and kidney sections should leave more room for the thighs to go a little higher too which will free up your shins from getting caught on the thighs as you walk! Adjustments have influences on other parts! :salute:

I would really like to thank everyone for their great feedback and advice on how to make this more acceptable for approval. The only issue I have, is that I bought this through Dave's Darkside Depo and had it custom made. I have never done costuming before and I am afraid since I do not know quite how to make these adjustments, I may make things worse. I have started looking at videos on YouTube on how to work with the plastic formed molds, but seems my hands do not like to do what my brain is saying. I was hoping that I could speak to someone in person, that could point out what needs to be done or show me how to do it, so I can have a better understanding. Maybe even see a trooper armor in person, and then I would have no problem matching that as well.

Thanks again for all of the great advice. I am sure, I will figure it out one way or another. 2025 will definitely be a journey.

You could reach out to troopers who are local to you, Carolina Garrison looks to be close to you, info: https://carolinagarrison.org/, they also have a few squads which may be even closer to you

Yeah best advice here is have some people show you how to work with armor. Think of it like when you ask a computer geek how to build a computer. They usually are extremely excited to help and many of us with costumes are the same way
