Honestly it’s a mix of hero and stunt. I don’t have the bubble lenses for the helm but I’m still aiming for level 3 approval

You will find a nice comparison of each version and their differences here

Just updating my build here. Right arm outer cover strips are now in place on both the bicep and the lower bracer. Glued and painted the abdomen buttons in place. Glued inner cover strips inside shins on both legs. Slow and steady wins the race.

Hi Chris,

Looking at your build thread you  are doing a great work with your armor sir. keep it up.

If I may, it seems like you have enough room in your Biceps and Forearms. To get a more accurate look, you could trim them a little  more . If you used E6000 to glur the cover strips, this could be an easy fix.

You could trim the raised flat area in the front an relocate the cover. I would also suggest to make a test before glue them again. Use painter's tape to join the pieces and make a test, post some photos to receive feedback (this suggestions is also for the Thighs and Shins)

My arms are frustrating me to no end. Seriously!!!! The biceps keep wanting to kick out at a 45 degree angle.

They look a tad large, you could add some foam on the insides of the biceps this should help stop them kicking out sideways. With skinny arms I also have foam in my forearms and thighs.

Lol , the armor is on a mannequin at the moment. My arms fit perfectly when I’m wearing the armor so no foam will be needed. I think I need to shorten the strap to the shoulder bells.

You did state "The biceps keep wanting to kick out at a 45 degree angle" hence why I suggest adding the foam.

You need to space out all our arm pieces so the gaps are more consistent.

Note your shoulder straps are being pulled outwards sideways to the shoulder bells so you may need to double over the elastic or try a thicker elastic.

More progress in the works. Yes I know the ab plate is in the wrong position.
Took pics of my hands inside my lower arms to show there is just no room to make the wrist area smaller. Waiting on split rivets to put the amp pack onto my leg.
Glued the sniper knee in place today sorry no pic yet. Finished the belt today as well as the Chicago screws that attach the leather holster to the beltc3f77768974c5d9fcbdcade85c33ddf6.jpg

Just watch your shoulder straps on the rear, addition of elastic can help them stay in place

You may have to add some side shims as well

L2 and upwards

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):

  • Any gap between the abdomen and kidney armor is no more than 1/2" (12.5mm) wide.
    • Any shims used to achieve this effect are of a similar material and color as the abdomen and kidney armor. Shims fit flush and seams are allowed.

A few threads which may be of help

Just a couple of things you may want to address

The cut corners of your cover strips are quite large, not sure if you have any material left over as you may want to change them, depending on what your GML says of course and more for higher level approval.

Here are some comparisons

Also note the top corner of your thigh ammo strip is usually not rounded off

As I said on Face Book, there are countless costumes out there for our universe but the 501st was founded on storm troopers and nothing makes me happier than to own , troop , and represent the fighting 501st as a TK!!!f9853e589650ddc31b7c3f6c614657eb.jpg
