All,

I seem to be having a hard time getting the "approved makers" (will not publicly say names...) to respond to e-mails regarding purchasing an armor kit. I have to stick with the kits for larger troopers...does anyone have any suggestions on the matter?

Many Thanks,

Jon,

How long has it been since you reached out to them? Please keep in mind that this is not how they earn their living. Since you mentioned the larger trooper friendly kits, there are two that I immediately think of. One of them is usually pretty quick to respond, the other can take a week or two because he travels a lot for work.

if it hasn't been two weeks, I wouldn't worry too much about it just yet. If you want to get into specifics, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Hang in there, we'll see you white and shiny yet. ;)

Yes, Yes! to Tim you listen. I am in the process of upgrading some equipment from one of those guys, and it can take a while for them to get back! But as Tim said, if you hang in there, they will get back to you. They do this as a hobby and help trooper hopefuls get into the 501st. You will be in the shiny and white in no time :)

Thank you Both!

It has been over a week...and being the "research junkie" I am...I did know about the one who has a "real life" job. I sent to both researched "tall trooper" folks. I'll temper my excitement. I am actually looking at doing a TFA build also...have those responses and prices on the helmet and armor. I am just too much of a fan to let the ANH stunt go without it being my first build...almost feel like I would be "betraying" the original trilogy...haha.

One thing I do know...I am not alone...and I have all the help I need from the FISD...very much appreciative of all of it. I look forward to giving back where I can.

Many Thanks,

Jon

Update - Received my response from the leader in the clubhouse...like the price...and it looks like a 4-6 week lead time. That seems about average...so tomorrow (bonus day) may be the big ordering day!!!! I just do not know if I have the patience to wait 4-6 weeks. man...I am excited as it gets!!! REally like the armor pics they sent me (guess I can say it) AM 2.0 armor looks to be the one!

In the mean time...I'll go perform my "handling / spotting duties" for the Alabama Garrison at the RO premiere, get to know the fellas, introduce myself, and check out the builds and the tricks of the trade.

While this isn't the forum for it...I am going to start on a Vader Saber to get some dirt and marks on that new workbench. I haven't studied this much since School! Found a great thread on a double led strip saber build with real-time sound effects...and figure a Vader will be a 2-3 year project from a cost / build perspective...so why not use my wait time to learn some trick of the trade? Haha!

Thanks all! Looking forward to that BBB day!!

Haha, thus begins the seemingly endless waiting. But at least it's only 4-6 weeks! Usually (depending on the armor) it takes 4-6 months.

Do it! You can start a thread here if you'd like. :)

Cheers!

Well...I am committed fully to the ANH stunt build. Already have rivets and latex hand guards. Ordered ANH F-11 from Slavefive today...scooped up Joseph's Aker amp...grabbing Darman's neck seal and holster. One thing remains...letting go of my hard earned cash for my AM 2.0 armor...ready...set...

Yeah, the waiting seems forever, but a month is actually pretty good.

It...is...done...no turning back now...AM 2.0 Armor / helmet on the way...Hahaha...

Now I must "move along" with prepping for BBB day...oh, the JOY OF IT ALL! Hahaha!

So now that you've pulled the trigger on your armor, it's time to hurry-up-and-wait, Jon. My advice at this point is to keep doing exactly what you have been doing, Jon... getting prepared! Having everything you will need for your build on-hand and studying the various build threads will make your life so much easier, I promise. I am sure you are aware by now that building a set of armor is more of a marathon than a sprint, so take your time and be sure to ask questions if you need to. You'll have your basic approval and be on your way to Centurion before you know it!

Will do Joseph! Plan is to do a "newbie style" thread...for tall-skinny (let's say "slim") troopers. At the end of the day...I am confident I have the support I need on the FISD forums if I run into challenges or questions. Sure...4-6 weeks is a wait, but thanks to all the help...I know my prep work and the tools / supplies to have ready. My past life working with cast-polymer, etc will help a bunch, too. Going to be a lot of fun and I appreciate everything from everyone!

Centurion...here I come!

Thanks Joe!

P.S. I am ordering a Kylo Ren Black series helmet...to start modding it during my wait...should keep me busy! Hahaha
