Im thinking of making the one piece undersuit into a two piece, as i have problems putting the top part on and also its very warm.

The other reason is do i need the top half as im using a neck seal and the gaskets, which im going to look at sewing together so i can cut down on the number of layers. (heat prevention)

Will be following this thread as I have just been over to see his sale threads. Don't know if I would have the skills to put one together though.

This is my first main build, i currently have an ISB uniform and thought its about time i made some armour.  I've looked at the build threads and have taken some ideas from each so hopefully it will work out.

Look forward to following your thread! Exciting times ahead

Thanks, feels like christmas everytime i get a parcel with kit in :)

Big Box arrived today from Jim, was a bit worried as the box was damaged, but everything was ok.... have to say im really impressed with it. Its weighs a bit more than ABS but is a lot more flexable with it been a form of fiberglass...... love to know were Jim  learned to do the packing as its great, i have a bigger box and find it hard to fit it all in... lol

Will hopefully start on the build this weekend

Hi Esther,

I'm in the same boat as you just starting my build with Jim's V3 Armour.

I'm in filling and sanding mode at the moment.

I'm curious with the extra greeblies you ordered. They look sturdy plus nice and clean. Are these resin, 3D printed or other? Are they same size as the set included with Jim's kit? UK based seller?

Cheers

By the way good luck with your build.

Your armpits need to be black. A tshirt will do. Save the really nice undersuit for special and or cold troops. I bought a medium and should have bought large just for easy donning.

Hi,

I got the greebels and holster from a member of jims kit FB page, hes based in ireland so got here very quick. hes not doing anymore till afte CE London.  they are resin and you also get some spares, they are a bit more detailed than jims.

Hi Sylverbard, was thinking of using a tshirt for the top and stiching the gaskets to it... i also have a cool vest - (which you wet and can insert ice packs, which last 5 to 10 hours to keep the body cool) which im thinking of using instead of the tshirt.

What about the bottom half, as i was thinking its going to be hard to find something thats the same (leather type material) on black cloth.  Thats why i was looking at making it a two piece.

Any advice on this would be great

Esther....The undersuit you've shown is not essential. Some troopers are using their usual undersuit of choice incl. compression wear from UniQlo or Aldi

Thanks JAFO, i have an old motorbike undersuit much like the ones the tks wear, so will make that a 2 piece instead as i dont have a bike anymore :(

I use a two piece compression suit, keeps me cool enough with rubber or material gaskets

Bit of a slow start on the armour, but am starting to get there. If anyone is thinking of getting jims armour then please beaware you will need safety equipment when sanding and cutting, I got throw away overalls, resperator with replaceable filters, goggles and gloves as i was dealing with fiberglass... so please be safe when preping this armour.

So over the last few days i have been sanding and terrifying my cats, as they do not like the resperator - i know how darth feels when i wear it.

I have sanded the inside of the chestplate, yoke and abb pieces to remove access fiberglass and then gave them a good wash down.

Stared work on the chest piece by cutting out the pill holes, this was done by drilling them out and then using files to file them down to the required design.

Another day on the chestplate:

I finished cutting out the pill holes and air vent with the sanly knife and used my files to smooth the areas. next i needed to do a light primeing to see if there was any small pill holes that had happend when the armour was been made.

I found quite a few areas with them so i used a product called epoxie sculpt and filled the holes, i let it set for 48 hours and then sanded.... am really happy i bought the mouse sander which i used for 800 grit, 1200 grit and then hand sanded with 1600 grit wet and dry sandpaper.
