Yes, I would say great job on the proportions of his body type. A good fit goes a looong way on making a good set of armor. Paint job looks great too! That's a lot of painting!

Not everyone has broad shoulders, the support keeps the bells in a specific position which gives the troopers uniformity. It's also suggested it assists with the inner strapping if assembled a certain way.
