New NE build Tampa Fl

Recommended Posts

Looks good. Draw a line right along that seam where the kidney overlaps the ab and cut there. I can't clearly see the line, but from the top of the indent at the bottom of the kidney, cut straight across to meet the downward curve towards the cup of the cod.

Back to work today- anyone have any suggestions on how to get the left side of the chest plate to where it doesn't flare out? The right side suits flush against my body, but the left sticks way out?

I'm not sure I really see an issue.  This was my initial test fit:

I say carry on with your build.  At the very least, you'll have to do something with the chest piece when you're almost done.  Definitely don't let a little flare-out of the chest stop you from continuing with the rest of it.

True,

So I had a really productive evening - completed some strapping from the kidney to the butt plate-

Also got brave with the heat gun (nothing really big though) and bent my hook pieces to attach the shoulder bell to the bicep.. Can't really test fit it all until the E6000 dries up- more to come!!

Most nerve racking night yet. Drilled my armor to install the split rivets! I was not looking forward to this because it seems so permanent. Of course the drill slipped a little doing the crotch rivet, so it's not perfectly centered. Oh well, it will be one of those labor of love mistakes that I'll notice every time I put on the armor- but no one else will care about- here is a few pics-<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I was considering that when I placed them and read, re-read and read again the placement instructions for the level 3 approval- and the only thing it mentioned was the depth from the side and even spacing <br /><br />"Rivets on the left side of the ab plate: a total of three fasteners, the heads should be rounded or domed, solid, approximately 5/16" (8mm) diameter and equally spaced out along the depth of the armor and about 10mm from the edge. They may be painted white, or not. Paperclip brads are not considered to have a domed head. Note: For the original TK armor the type of rivets used were bifurcated rivets or split rivets."<br /><br />I also held my unfinished belt up and noticed it would be covering the bottom rivet and seems to do so on most other approvals I've seen. Hopefully it won't affect my approval <br /><br /><br />Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well it's sometimes difficult to describe precisely something with just few words. In this case i assum that the CRL can be misleading and should specify that the bottom rivet shouldn't be placed on the cod section, which is right under the abdominal section and only delimited by a raised line.

Following the CRL is a good beginning but refering to original pics is also primordial:

Well poop- lol- (will it affect approval?) <br /><br />It's gonna be one of those things that I notice every time I put my gear on but when fully suited no one will see. I guess everyone's gear has a few little quirks that make them their own <br /><br /><br />Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

K-

Need some help, finished my trial run for strapping and found some funny stuff. The kidney to ab connection seems pretty solid, but the shoulders sit to far out and the butt plate is doing this crazy move when I connect it to the crotch piece.

Have a look and let me know your thoughts. Honest feedback please.

I think I'm gonna try and heat bend the but plate a little because it's seems to lay perfect when it's not snapped.. But pulling a little on the butt plate forces the top back. The sides clearly need to be curved in a little ...

Anyway, here ya go

This tutorial might help you to properly linking your pics for your thread:

About the butt plate, see Maxsteel's thread about my opinion if you're interested

For the shoulder bells, perhaps you wear them reversed. There is no clear right way to wear them, but to me there's one which makes them closing better in the front. I find that they close better when the more rounded side is facing the front, like the trooper below:

Well, did a little heat bending on both my shoulders and the butt plate,

And I think I got it sitting pretty well. Still not 100% please with how he but plate sticks out at the meeting of the kidney, but I'm out of ideas don't know that I can get it strapped any closer... Suggestions?
