ZagTrooper Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) It will be a while before I can get my shiny white armor in that big brown box and ive been wondering, is there a way to "hone your skills" so to speak? like some kind of i dunno "practice armor" or other similar yet that can prepare me for the big build so that when i get the armor it wont be all aurebesh to me? Granted I will be able to get incredibly helpful advice from you fine people Edited March 5, 2013 by ZagTrooper Quote
SIMpixels Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 Like many, I started with my E-11 build. It got me used to filing, sanding & gluing with E6000. Quote
DizzyStormtrooper[501st] Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 Go get a few of those plastic "for sale" signs, clamps magnets, sandpaper (anywhere around 100 grit is fine), and e6000.. Cut up the signs into strips and practice butt joining Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 Blaster builds are a good way to start off, it was four blaster builds before I recieved my armor and it kept me busy and helped hone my skills. If you are going to use a dremel then I would say practice with some of the different tips, the cutting and sanding tips I used the most, by time my armor arived I could cut pretty straight lines with it. kaa1304[TK] Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I built a doopydoos that was for the wrong movie, but it was worth it, got me used to working with glue, clamps, all that. Quote
LadyInWhite[TK] Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Using webbing or those "for sale" signs and a snap kit (recommend you use a hammer not the clamp/tool) you can start making snap plates. You need about 50-60 unless you're me and you need like 100. Quote
