Gep
I just finished my Doopy mod. Based on the great ideas I've seen on this board, I did the following extra things... - replaced scope rail with aluminum piece - drilled 8 holes on lower left of barrel where 7th vent cover was - added wires on counter to cylinders - dremeled out gun sight - dremeled and shaped trigger as best I could - replaced LED with high current drive transistor and hi-intensity LED from a Cadillac tail lamp project that I was involved with several years ago. - Lastly, I added a bolt, bolt slot and spring. I sort of looks like the full Doopy kit version with this. I had not seen this on a Hasbro yet. It was surprisingly easy to do, and I'm very happy with the results. DarkTrooper[TK]
Nice job. Its so clean. Are you gonna add a bit of weathering?
Sonnenschein
Beautiful build! Ā But yeah, it needs weathering. A little silver dry brushing on the edges helps a lot.
Gep
I've seen several other Hasbro mod threads where little to no weathering was done. What is considered proper for ANH stunt (i.e. shiny)? Ā It's painted silver underneath so I can either lightly sand or dry brush it with silver. PeteK
Hey Gep Ā I am building a Hasbro/Doppydoo build at the moment and was wondering of you could explain how you attached the metal Scope rail? Ā Thanks
Gep
It Hey Gep Ā I am building a Hasbro/Doppydoo build at the moment and was wondering of you could explain how you attached the metal Scope rail? Ā Thanks NP.... I removed the plastic 'scope rail' with a dremel and sanded down the surface. After that, I just took some 1/2" wide aluminum stock and bent a 90 degree curve on one end. Drill a hole in that and mount it to the rail back on the Hasbro. I dremel'd a little slot up under the scope for the other end of the rail to mount. Plastic epoxy putty was used to hold that end in and fill in the gaps. Here is a pic of the original rail removed. You don't have to get the surface perfectly smooth, as the new rail will hide most imperfections. Ā Here is a shot of how the aluminum is mounted. A Philips screw holds it in place in the back. It just sticks in the slot I formed on the other end. Edited September 26, 2012 by Gep
Mongoose[TK]
I've been considering adding the spring and bolt to my Hasbro. If I could bother you for the dimensions of the cuts you made for your that would be great. Also, what did you use for the spring catch?
