Advise needed on cutting my new armour

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I'm new on here have mainly been lurking on UKG, been making good head way on getting my kit together, BUT....

TM has made up the helmet for me, due to my lack of experience. But I would like some advise from you guys on cutting out the armour, as I REALLY don't want to mess it up. I know that TM is slightly harder to do than most others so any advise, tips, or recommendations you can give me would be a huge help.

I have heard some people like to use the small power tools, and others advise against it, so I'm a little confused.

FYI I have little to no modelling skills, last thing I made I was about 11, it was Air Fix, and the Damb Busters would not have been proud.

Thanks as ever folks

Score and snap. Measure twice, cut once.

Tape up using masking tape and mark with a pencil. Make it a little bigger than the line and sand down to it.

Remember; it's easier to take something off than to add something to it.

Only power tool I used was a drill. No need to use a dremel or sander or anything like that.

Oh, if you want more confirmation then I'd advise you post a picture so someone can advise you better and maybe show you visualy.

Honestly, it's not as hard as you'd think - it's just daunting at first. Once you get going, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

Ok I'm getting the impression that I need to stay away from power tools, thank the lord, I had all sorts of horror/comedy scenarios playing through my head of cutting clean through my armour with an out of control industrial sander dragging me along the living room floor.

Steve, I will do a lot of documentation, from box to first troop.....I hope!

But to be honest the armour is the only part I'm going to be making up, as I have little time when on RnR, so I have purchased my T21, and will be purchasing my Sandtrooper field unit too, .....sorry......please don't treat me as an out cast, I'm ginger and a smoker so I get enough of that anyway.

Thanks for the advise guys, there will be more questions to come I can guarantee that.

We must be twins! Except mine included a bawling 5-year-old watching the armor disintegrate (not caring one hoot about his mother being sander-dragged)!

Thanks for all the tips, guys!
