Quinn_101 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 On any of your 501st or even Rebel Legion costume builds? Do you like the satisfaction at the end of the build or the excitement before it? Love the challenges the various kits comes with or love finding that unique solution or when things go right? Hate it when every possible goes wrong (Murphy's Law)? Let's share our stories =D Cheers, Quinn Quote
bluehickey Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 One of my most favorite memories when I was putting together my armor was when I was working on getting the thighs connected. I came up with a solution and put on my ab and kidney pieces as well as the thighs. I walked into the bathroom to look in the mirror at my progress. As soon as I caught a glimpse of my mid section in armor, I freaked out because I was seeing (part of ) a stormtrooper in the mirror. It was coming to life! I was so thrilled that I ran back out and put everything else on, including the helmet and went back and looked in the mirror. I just sat there smiling and staring at the stormtrooper in the mirror and couldn't believe it was me! It was awesome! Quote
ObiHahn[TK] Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Upgrading from my old FX gear with MR CE helmet to my recent, more screen accurate armor, hands down. That's one of the best decisions I made. That and carrying a BFG as a TK. Nothing beats the heft of a DLT-19, gun-wise I mean. Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 For me, it was the first time I suited up. Granted, it was in my basement, but seeing a stormtrooper looking back at me in the mirror for the first time was an unforgettable experience. Actually, over 2 years later it's still a thrill. Right after that was seeing the look on my kids' face as I came up the stairs. Of course they immediately knew it was me, but still priceless nonetheless. Quote
Rich330[TK] Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 I was personally surprised by how much fun I had building armour. To be honest, I started out just wishing someone else would put it together for me but in the end I took a lot of pride and satisfaction from the build. I can't wait to get started on the next one. I think the single moment which sticks in the mind though was when I got my first indication of the reaction of "the public" to a good TK outfit. We were having a small gathering for my wife's birthday and she did a quick test fitting to show the guests her new "carnival costume". They were all well and truly bowled over and my wife had to stay in the costume for a long time whilst everybody had several photos taken with her. Quote
Murray1134[501st] Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 My best memory has to be from one of my intial test fittings (blue painters tape and all). My wife and I were taking TONS of photos, so I could keep track of everything. I looked back thru the photos and found one of that had the ab, chest, shoulder bells and arms all taped onto me. I had a HUGE grin on my face, and it was from that moment on that I knew that this was the thing for me. Quote
john danter Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) Making this baby for my snowie I had to find 3 EU refs of snowies using a DLT20A (the gun that also IG88 has) most came from games etc so I got a green light to make it. I almost cut my finger off in the process but eventually made this..... I love trooping with it Finishing my girlfriends Zam Wessel outfit also pretty cool. Especially when I saw her on stage at CE Edited June 4, 2010 by john danter Quote
carbonitekid Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 My first troop with the UKG is one of them (complete with FX lid *shudder* ), but my most recent has to be seeing this shot of my new kit on its debut troop yesterday: From being robbed of my old kit to wearing this in less than 2 months all due to the generosity of my 501st brothers... thats a memory to cherish.
