  1. I just checked them and the head size is 5/16".
  2. Do you mean the head size? I have found the correct rivets but I can't remember the exact size off the top of my head. I can measure them tomorrow for you though.
  3. Well done gobby
  4. It's been a puzzle trying to figure out what the strap was used for originally. It may have been in sheet form and cut into strips or it could have been some kind of mat? I really don't know What I do know is the original ROTJ straps are vacuum formed ABS. These straps are from tour suits. It would be great to finally find out what they are made from and get some replicas made.
  5. Yeah, I know what you mean. But I think Vern is getting confused with the velcro sewn underneath the shoulder strap and thinks that is what the fraying is. If you zoom into the photo you will see it is simply the hook part of the velrco sticking out from underneath the strap and not the strap fraying. I believe the strap is vinyl/PVC and more than likely ribbed as standard rather than sewn ribbing. I have been thinking about buying some white vinyl and making some kind of mould to heat it up and shape the ridges, then sew the velcro underneath. These straps have always been a mystery to me and it would be great to be able to reproduce them.
  6. That's very sad news Mark. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
  7. I really don't think they are the same helmet. Take a look at the rear trap decal in the bottom photo. It is missing one of the stripes and being screen printed, it is not like a stripe can just fall off. The brow trim is longer in the bottom photo and look closely at the trimming on the lower ear cap. It is much more trimmed in the top photo compared to the bottom one. The face plates seem to be positioned slightly differently too. Carpet underlay? Really? I would like to see something that matches the Jedi suits. Can't see it myself to be honest.
  8. I was just looking through some old threads and noticed this reply. Joe, Are you saying that this helmet is the exact same helmet owned by sreenused.com?
  9. I was just looking through the screen grabs and noticed this trooper on the far left has an ESB blaster, and the one in the middle of the image does too. It may be old news to some of the blaster guys on here, but I only just noticed it ----------
  10. Ohhh...so close to almost fitting him. I thought it looked like it might fit Leo in the first photo. Shouldn't be long before he is running around in it blasting all his mates My eyes might be deceiving me but I think I can see the zip on the undersuit at the front (it's a back zip suit ) Mini latex hand plates are already in the making, but I would love to see what you can come up with Karin. I have mini rubber gloves too ready for the next generation of mini armour coming soon!
  11. The first thing that sticks out is the size of her br.....I mean..err... the way your biceps are positioned in realtionship to your forearms They look kind of twisted and not lined up correctly. Try and strap them so that the joining seams line up and dont have the strap too long. You want the gap at the elbow joint about 1-1.5" like the screen used armour. Of course, the parts need to be loose on your arm and not tight, but proper positioning will help with your freedom of movement too.
  12. Just remember your drop boxes. If you have already assembled them with the elastic loops you will need to slot them onto the belt before attaching the end rivets. My advice is to temporarily mount the plastic ammo section to your canvas belt using screws or bolts and then add the snaps, otherwise, it will be very difficult to add the sanps. Make sure you mount the snaps to the MIDDLE of your canvas belt and not off center. The snaps on your abdomen want to be 20mm above the waist line that seperates your abdomen and cod plate.
  13. Wonky is the way to go You need to heat acrylic capped ABS if you want it to bend. Stressing the plastic will just make it crack. This does not happen with regular ABS. It's the acrylic capping that makes it brittle. I have a few spare ammo straps if you want me to send you another?
  14. Well, not hollow, more like a wave or ripple
  15. You may already have something like this but this is what I would use to make the ribs on a mould. Okay, maybe not this exact model, but you get the idea?
  16. I think this neck seal is the same as the others above, just squashed. Maybe you are over thinking the ribs on these. I am thinking they are more corrugated ridges rather than hard lines. It is hard to tell from the photos to be certain, but they may not be like the ribs on the hero seals.
  17. The boots are definitely differnt from ANH and ESB. They have grips on the soles compared to the smooth leather soles of ANH, and they also look to be a yellow/brown colour which indicates a man made sole. I heard a rumour they were Naval officers white dress boots, but have never really found anything that matches, and I don't think they were made by Roots either.
  18. Also of interest is that it shows 5 ribs on the shoulder straps mounted to the chest plate. Some people think that only Luke had the straps mounted so far down onto the chest, when in fact most (if not all) troopers were assembled this way.
  19. If you are making your own belt try to find denim canvas. That is what I use and it doesn't need any kind of reinforcing. You need to make it four layers thick. Just cut out a twelve inch wide strip then fold it in half and half again. This gives you your four layers and makes it three inches wide. Now just sew all around the edges and sew on a small strip of two inch velcro at each end and your done
  20. I make my belts 46" long. I am a 34" waist and that gives me an overlap of about 6" at the back over my armour. I like to attach the holster rivets about 1/2" from the lower edge of the belt and about 1" away from the ammo section. Holster drop from the belt can vary from 1" to 2" if you look at the screen grabs of original armour, though some may be shorter or longer.
  21. Are you serious? There is only one hero helmet in that screen grab and it has bubbled lenses. The trooper on the left is stunt.
  22. Well, I only own two pairs now, but they were all swines to find. I am sure it won't be long before the info is out there, so you won't have to sweat too much
