  1. Could it be this one?
  2. I don't own an MGC Sterling, but I used to own an MGC M4A1 and real Colt mags didn't fit it, so I'm guessing it's the same with the Sterling as they use shorter PFC rounds.
  3. Maybe they just used a shorter mag for the MGC?
  4. That's hilarious I find it amusing that someone with an awesome costume might not get cleared because they had to trim it to fit and it might not look accurate, yet FX gets clearance??? I hope it's not true. One thing I have learned ove the years is people talk too much and you shouldn't take everything as gospel.
  5. When you come to fit your neck trim it is best to cut the end about 10mm longer than you think and force it on. This will keep it tight on your helmet and won't keep falling off. If it does keep coming off then simply run a bead of glue in one of the channels and stick it on your helmet
  6. That's what I was thinking. It would not hurt to trim a bit off the top of your butt and off the bottom of your kident plate. I was also thinking about trimming the neck line a bit deeper to pull the chest up and maybe some off the top of your ab plate. Maybe even go as far as trimming the lower edge off you chest plate Luke style? I know these may be going against the grain but the armour is designed for someone of around 5'10, so anyone who is quite a bit taller or shorter than this will have to do some kind of modding to their armour.
  7. How do the thighs feel when you just wear the leg armour without wearing the torso? I think you might be able to do some modding to the torso as it looks like it is hanging too low. Does the torso feel alright on you or could that be modded to fit better as well? Just trying to get a feel of what fits right and what doesn't as the problem may not be just the thighs?
  8. Here is what I mean: I don't think the usual angled cut will be enough behind your knees, so it might be best to just remove all of the border there. But, try cutting the backs angled first if you want, it might be enough for you?
  9. The easiest thing to do with the shins is to trim ther ankle area. Take 10-20mm off the length and don't try to recreate the original ankle shape when you do. I think if you just trim in a downward curve as seen on some of the original suits would look better. You can also trim the border behind the knee too. Same for the thighs too. Trim away the back of the knees and test fit to see how everything feels. I guess that's about as much as you can do without trimming the tops of the thighs. I would only trim the tops of the thighs as a last resort though.
  10. That's right. Alan mentioned no Expert Infantry badge due to the rivets so I thought I would give him the tip about gluing it on (even though it's too late now). I must admit that it is more difficult to attach the thicker and more rigid 2mm ABS knee plate with glue than the flexible 1.5mm ABS, but it can be done if you use the method I mentioned.
  11. *TOP TIP* Glue the knee plate on behind the diamond shape onto the joining strip first and leave to dry. Then you can glue the tabs back and use clamps to hold in place until the glue dries
  12. I found that if you have too much of a curve towards the inner half of the lens (pointing to nose) that causes the distortion. Try and keep most of the bubble towards the outer half of the lens and keep the inner half with hardly any. They may not look as good as the original bubble lens, but at least you can see through them pretty good.
  13. I don't waste my time going to stores only to find out they don't have what you want or are closed. It's so much easier for me to just buy everything on ebay and it's usually cheaper too.
  14. Nice suit but I see a few assembly issues - mainly the joining strips. I know exactly what you need to do to rectify the curvature issue. PM inbound.
  15. I always use 1/4" (6mm) white elastic for holding the shoulder straps down.
  16. Looks like you have the parts taped too tight together and too much return edge on the groin causing your discomfort. I think if you trim the return edge a lot more (especially your cod piece) and have elastic straps holding the parts together, everything will feel much better. Your canvas belt will hold the waist closed once it is fitted to your armour. Use snaps to hold the belt in place on your ab plate and velcro to secure it at the back. Also, it looks like your kidney plate may be upside down too? I wouldn't trim any more off your armour until you have suited up fully and then had a chance to walk around in it. You will find with elastic holding everything together that your armour will feel much better. Keep things loose and I would not worry about a bit of a gap at the sides.
  17. It's cool mate. I just wanted to point them out just in case you was unaware of the differences between them from film to film.
  18. I would paint them white, but leave the rivets on the belt holding your holster unpainted. Also, the clips on your 02 canister are not the same as used in ROTJ. I don't know exactly what they used for these, but they are thinner and close together than the ones used in ANH.
  19. Your CFO drop boxes are very close to original ANH boxes, so the TE style are way off length wise.
  20. Measure your drop boxes and I'll tell you if they are the same as on Simons ANH suit or not.
  21. The trick is to fasten the nut right down past where you are cutting so that it threads itself on removal Best to use a marker to mark where you want to cut the screws inside the helmet before you remove them. Then once removed, fit the nut and tighten it past your mark and cut. It's easier to put the end of the screw in a vice if you have one and cut with a hack saw. You can file the cut end slightly then remove the nut which will make the threads nice ready to put the nuts back on once fitted to the helmet.
