  1. The belt made in two sections front and back fixing together with a male and female slot and tab.
  2. Yes i think The armour is more TK in this area .The cod cupping you know what. elastic conecting to the back .The cod and butt fixed to the Belt with elastic and the belt held up with braces and the mid section armour plates slot behind the belt on tabs maybe .Or the belt held up with straps from the chest and the mid section plates fixed to these so the chest and back hold every thing else up .That way the mid section sort of floats between the two via the elastic .Two per mid plate. I think another picture is needed lol.
  3. Kev a fem trooper could not be further from my thoughts lol. I was trying to portray a slim surface area (fail) The back of the thighs is a yes for smooth subtle curves and lines.I like the idea of a hint or homage to the TK with a flat fronted thigh fading into the knee spoon shape. The back of the knee is higher than the front spoon and may help movement with a slight rise at the centre or even a subtle flair away from the knee back. The opposite for the top of the shin back,a drop at the centre.
  4. Been putting pen to paper and as you well know kevin i have a picture in my minds eye of the unseen areas .The back of the thighs should not come any higher than TK thighs at the back . The butt should not be as full as the TK ,more like the clone covering half the cheek .Along with the deep swoop of the outer thighs will leave more under suit than we are all used to .
  5. Very nice thats what this thread is all about referance material to get as close as posible to how RMc saw the stormtrooper . As for sourcing parts from all over ,this project is in its infancy almost as the stormtrooper was back in the 70's and what a great place to be.
  6. No slot in the shields never has been and never will. The suit if it goes ahead will be for a specific body size , as for the future other sizes may aprear as kevin has always provided, but as for now is a no for 40 inch hips as you stated. it will faithfully represent the RMc illustration.
  7. i love your style of thinking kevin , its like you have done this sort of thing before. The shin idea is a stroke of genius a reverse spoon. The ab plate yes could hang from the chest and back or to the belt or to webbing which floats from the chest/back and belt .The cod and butt helped with grey elastic or webbing which there are many sources out there. I see the shields made of a plastic hand area with a translusent white perspex maybe with a light source LED shining through it (force field look) . Light saber Blaster rifle shield radio back pack (option)
  8. In the style of illustration here is how i see the chest and back affixing the neck ring .The chest plate seen has a shim incorperated within the mold ,the neck detail can then be fixed to the plastic parts with screws or clue. Its not a McQarrie but hope you get the idea.
  9. The suit would have to be made as the clones are with no strips on arms and legs . I own a c3po so no the confines of the upper torso and neck . My thoughts would be for a resin ring ,split in two front/back and joined to the chest and back plate same for the wrists. ABS yes The shins as i see the design should be joined at the outside with moulded detail and the inside open so you can put it on ,then a detail part hiding the join once on similar to your spoon idea Kevin. The arms should all be closed parts along with the thighs. The ab area made up of four parts , centre ,left and right flank and finally back . The Belt made like your clone with abs belt and maybe hips boxes for more detail or even resin. The cod then maybe a small butt plate The lot should be painted as different matterials will be used plus it will cover the construction corrections. As for matt or shine on the paint work .I see an armour that has a used look what has a shine and a patina achived with newspaper which will enhance the details and edges of the suit , Undersuit a light grey with grey gloves . .As for boots maybe a TK boot with a clone sole . I have already started to make part drawings as i see the shapes and details of each part and will post this up over the weekend.. . I'm at work. Will put in a full build report as I see it .
  10. The PM you talk of was three years ago. So the request is to say the least is very out of date. using that as carte blanche to take my entire tutorial Library is very poor form ,poor form inded.
  11. I dont help anyone any more,i am self centered, small minded, and selfish to the core.So by my rules closing the flickr after 3 years is top form. Two sides to a coin . Boy oh boy not been here for 6 months and already feel like i have been rubbed up the wrong way.
  12. Leave them were they are guys ,A little different now L.S.D is up and running. The odd picture yes no problem but the entire tutorial is taking the the cake shop a little.Glad you asked thanks. :ninja: Ohh and as Mr V thinks its outdated its now gone anyway.
  13. Thanks guys, Keith as for the lenses i got a job lot of welders number 5 dark green face shields from the states.I had cut out the eyes in one piece so used the plastic from the eyes as a base to build up a mold in air dry clay. Then all i did was use a heat gun on the face shield to pull the shapes.I only made one set as the molds cracked but they did their job.
  14. Bathroom sealant i think not mate! Directly glued to the main helmets as Rich correctly spotted with hes keen eye ,plastic weld. just the legs to follow and then the cool stuff ,strapping and fitting.
  15. The ROTJ butt na kidney are in one part unlike the ANH,ESB which are seperated. The CFO ROTJ helmet is from a direct cast of an original helmet.
  16. The build is falling into place very well and the CFO kit is fantastic to work with.Sorry to the Death Star troopers out there that are parade ready all very clean, but this is ROTJ we are taking about here ! That Endor forest is no place for white armour. Hats off to the CFO guys for taking the time and effort to get the suit builder friendly. More to follow V soon.
  17. The torso features the trim excusive to the ROTJ stormtrooper, there is no return edge on any of the torso parts, the trim becomes the return. I am really starting to like this suit.
  18. The back plate like so many of the CFO ROTJ parts has wonderfully lazy lines almost an organic feel to it.
  19. I have been charged with building and reviewing the all new CFO Ruturn Of the Jedi suit.Which has been the sweetheart of our esteemed members JoeR and Sskunky joe and mark. The molds are from film used parts, the icing on the cake being the ROTJ helmet. The build will follow as close as i can get to the way the ROTJ suit were constructed, and as these are non modified ROTJ parts should go together well. All parts ams and legs will have the overlap clamshell finish tipical of ROTJ suits unlike the butt joint and finishing strip on the ANH/ESB suits.the suit parts (arms and legs) have been made this way and go together very well ,and have all the tells from the ROTJ original parts.Note the bicep thin profile and the pinched shoulder bell. All the parts have been weathered the forest moon of Endor style,as that is i feel the only way the ROTJ suit should be presented. Just like the sandtroopers from ANH with their desert grim,The ROTJ strormtrooper should have field weathering.
  20. To your first question they are snaps not rivets, what they are for is to hold the belt up with.Male on the suit, female on the belt. To your second ponit ,good on you mate, velcro hate the stuff. Scrap the one piece shoulder strap idea ,to be honest i forgot i still had that picture up.Just go for this set up.the white holds the shoulder chest and back plate, the black goes to the shoulder bell. your belly snap for the belt.
  21. trooping is fun! There is one thing i have noticed in all your pictures,You have the kidney plate upside down! The cut outs go at the bottom next to your butt plate.I know these are only show off pictures of the trimming and test fits but if you keep putting it the wrong way up ,when it comes to the final fit you might just get it wrong and we don't want that do we.
  22. Pictures please,of your progress its the law round these parts!
  23. If you are going to use the mags for clamping then all they need to do is hold the two parts you are gluing. Not pull the moon out of its orbit with them. One top tip is keep your work area clear of any rivets knives pliers screws etc as they will all end up attatching themselves to you armour part.
