  1. Got a shield made from ABS plastic, I looked at both the GG Bust shield and the McQ illustration to come up with the shape. It still needs paint and weathering ,the raised details are curved ,it has a nice weight and ballance.
  2. Very nice sir. Is the belt part of this mold or will it attach to the top as a seperate part ?
  3. Im not sure about the mechanics of this but what about add on parts to the basic TK version ? so the rectangle sits on the Tk chest the round detail i see as a water top up plug maybe for the cooling system in the suit ( blimy almost makes perfect sence) This could also be an add on part with measurements provided for placement on the chest if you wanted to go down the TD route. The recatangle if it were offered as a molded part could be part of the yoke which would help with less mold making? But the principe that there could be two versions with very little to add would be a nice idea. The only other part would be a back pack, but i also see these back packs on the TK versions as well .
  4. So Steve you have seen the light ? Looking foward to your skills mate.
  5. These look great , the thigh fronts seem to have some nice curves happening .from one side at the top they swoop in and the other swoop out. Really liking the back of the knees .nice one Kevin.
  6. Plan B Acrylic shatters like glass ,so have some ABS coming ,now thats the material i can work with . Im sticking with this bare with me lol.
  7. Weelllll , For a vac form shield ,that had never crossed my mind, I was going to construct it from the acrylic using this for the handle thinking out the box. I feel a shield should have some substance to it ,im sure if a vac form shield was double skined it would look thick enough but thats one hell of a buck 750 x 500mm .Thats the size i have come up with doing some scaling ,it sits shoulder to shoulder and from the neck to centre of thigh. I will see what i end up with.
  8. Blimy,Kevin ! To see the illustrations actually as a 3D object is fantastic. really liking the curves mate. I had a parcel arrive today in the shape of some 5mm opel acrylic enough for two shields. Steve (SW1) is on the case with the sabers .
  9. Now why do i suddenly like that style of helmet !!!!!!! As for the back and chest with the yoke at the top ,all i can say is great minds think alike ,I know its easy to say after your example but it made sence to me what with the detail at the top of the chest ,i must say you illustration looks far better than my scribble . Big ,big smiles here. PS i really dont think there are any shoulder strap detail just clean cut lines over the shoulder area.
  10. Great picture, all the basic elements are there to see.The shaped knee of the shin top and bottom of the thigh, then the mid section plate and its nice to see the arm broken down into three parts ,shoulder bell with its distictive shape the very simple bicep and the classic forearm. Not forgeting the enclosed upper torso.
  11. I have also been thinking about the shield and have some ideas. Acrylic frosted sheet makes the base of the shield ,That is painted to match the armour but leaving the edges raw. Were the had holds are positioned a light source shins through the acrylic through to the edges giving the shield a sort of energy shield look without being overpowering just highlighting the edges of the shield.Acrylic sheet is inexpensive 500mm x 1000 being about £30 here in the UK . I have ordered some and will see how this works would you say the shield size is around 500 wide by 700 long with three faces ?
  12. I like the examples Bill ,i am not sure about the elbow details you pointed out ,yes their are examples of a detail on the lets say sandtrooper detail but i see non on the death star version plus i think in the real world if they were added it would be almost imposible to bend your arm or at best they would clash with the forarm and bicep. I do agree that the shoulder bells in the bust are a little bulky and amen to them shoulder bridges.
  13. I Think the only thing the GG bust is wrong is the shoulder bridges ,they do not seem to have any on the concept drawings.Other than that its a good likeness on all other parts.I really like the arms and shoulder bells and the torso and belly plates are spot on.. Im Glad ou said vac form belf .
  14. grey it is then and 100% on the style. Now i will contact the makers and see what they say about a grey sole or the easiest way forward would be to order the boots as they come (black sole, heel) and use the universal grey primer some masking tape . I think we have our consept trooper boot sorted.
  15. grey would give a nice contrast and marry the suit under suit and overall look of the entire costume. White/grey. so you all agree on these boots if so i will contact the makers .
  16. I have been in contact with a shoe maker here in the UK .They hand make shoes and have had a pair or two over the years.they make a great looking high top boot which i was going to get when thinking about the finishing touches to a ROTJ TK. They are white leather with a zip side .I really like the heal version .Anyway the company will make these boots with a white wedge heel sole .They just need some assurance of numbers before they order the soles in for me ,or we just get them as they come and paint the soles white. Like the harness ideas . What do you think.the other boots i listed are being shipped to me also.
  17. I found these for $78 and ordered a pair plus the others i found . --------- We shall see delivery times and quality . As for the under suit i got NIKE PRO COMBAT in grey ,they come as a top and pants. ---------- The top is the MOCK neck and shows the colour being Carbon heather and the tighs colour being grey but they are the same .These are available world wide i got mine in the UK from Sports direct which is a chain of discount sports shops. ------- Hope this helps .
  18. I also found these boot/shoes and have been in contact with a shoe maker about a short run of flat sole chelsea boots . ---------- They are ankle boots but look ok .and only £14 which in the prop world is a bargin and would need to mod them .
  19. I dont think so steve .first off that would make for a large mold and secondly the side plates cross the front and back plates so you would see a vertical line running down the mid plates. They would look far better as one piece.
  20. Good find it makes you wonder why the clone builder dont use these,or are they new on the market. They are how i see the concept boots ,a flat sole chelsea boot. I was going to take some old TK boots to the cobbles and see what they can do with them.
  21. Ok just a ruff outline of how i see the straps .Red for webbing or elastic and yellow for the poppers or velco. Two straps per mid section plate going from the chest and back fixing to the belt. Some parts can be pre assembled before putting on.
  22. Yes Steve thats a nice butt and dare i say incorperating the fem trooper raised detail in the moulding , are they vented details in the mid section side plates or raised details ? I think subtle raised ribs would look the part.
  23. I am starting to picture this lot layed out in the workshop ready to put together ,And we take another big step in the right direction.
  24. Yes Vern we all know this, but the essence is the same running throughout the design and that what we are looking at. Chest and back plates enclosing the upper torso , mid section plates being the front H shape plate and the two flanks.Belt section ,cod and some sort of butt ,leg and arm armour .There is one fundamental design and thats the goal.
