  1. I have a set and I haven't done anything to blackout the logos. Your armor pretty much hides them from view. They aren't anywhere as visible as the UA ones. Good choice for an undersuit and great price. Suit still black after a number of wash, something like 20 or more.
  2. Another plug for Eastbays brand top and bottoms. It's what I used. Works great, good price and the logos are small and are hidden by your armor, unlike UA's which needs to be blacked out. For the heat, fans in the helment do help a little, I have some, but getting plenty of water and taking breaks it the key to make these events fun and safe. As it has been said above when trooping in hot environments, you need to make sure you are hydrated properly. The key is to drink plenty of water and take a helmet-off break every so often. If you can find a location to take the helmet off and grab some water, that is best. Listen to your body and take breaks when needed. That way you will have an enjoyable troop and stay safe in the heat.
  3. No, TK409 and oiftanker are two different people. They both make great neck seals though.
  4. Hey Dallas, Welcome to FISD. I live about 2 south of St Louis in Cape Girardeau. I have seen you work over on CT.net. It's some great stuff. Glad to see you over here.
  5. Congratulations to all. Excellent work troopers! Thanks for inspiring and raising the bar Paul. May the next 100 come twice as fast.
  6. Looks to be an exciting year ahead. The site upgrades look great. I been in and out over the last few days and seem like it changes every time I visit for the better. Great job to all the staff and everyone who's put in the hard work. I'm excited for the great year ahead and can't wait for one of those t-shirts.
  7. Mike, Got mine today. Thanks! Happy New Year!
  8. PM sent. Thanks Mike A Merry Christmas to everyone!
  9. I am thankful for family, a job to go to and troopers helping troopers. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
  10. To the Armed Forces members past and present of all nations who help keep this world safe, Thank You for your service. Freedom isn't free and this "trooper" appreciates the sacrifices you real troopers have made.
  11. I'm about your size and have a set of AP. I agree with all that been said so far. It's a good set. I got mine just over two years ago and it 's pure white ABS plastic. So I think the blue tint is a thing of the past. It's a fairly sturdy set and with all the tutorials here it is fairly easy to put together.
  12. From the skills you described above there is no way your AP will look anything like a Rubies. Jump in with both feet a pretty soon you will have one awesome looking trooper looking back at you from the mirror with a big grin on under that helmet. Good luck on your AP, Steve. Can't want to see the progress.
  13. I agree with what been said so far. Don't be in a rush to get armor. Keep doing some more research here on the boards and you will eventually find the "good stuff" for you. Smitty does know his stuff. You can't go wrong with AP, TE2, ATA or TM for your white plastic needs.
  14. I used black elastic across the palm and a black hair elastic around the wrist all attached with E6000 on my AP hand plates . Clamped the elastic until the glue set. E600 has bit of flexibility after it set. Great stuff.
  15. Just my 2 credits From the research and assembly I did when put together my AP armor I found that with the shins, that because the of the missing mold, they don't line up perfectly in the back if you have them lined up square in the front. What I did and my suggestion is line every thing up so that your front seams looks straight and true and then after that tweak the back seam so that it looks OK and it functions to clamp the armor around your leg. That way your best side is facing forward and not to many people are really going to scrutinize the back of your shins.
  16. Sorry to hear the bad news. I am one of the many who is looking for new employment too,so I know how you feel. Hopefully you'll find the next job soon and can get back to working on your armor.
  17. Shane777, I am about your same build and when I was first looking at FX I found that it would have needed a lot of work and trimming or it would have looked huge on me.Then like you I found out about AP. I end up going with AP. With very little trimming it has been a great fit. If I were you I would go with AP. It will fit better.
  18. The FX lite with a more accurate helmet or RT Mod for you body type could be a way to go, but with enough work you could make any armor type work. The search button is your friend. Like it has been mention earlier there is a lot of information and answers to questions here in the forum. The best thing to do is to get in and read, read, read. A good place to start is in Armor and Helmets - General Discussion Just kept looking around and asking questions.
  19. Troopermaster is right I used this drawing when I was putting mine together to tell the difference. It came from Stukatrooper's AP build tutorial. Great tutorial Stukatrooper. (Hope it's ok to post the image.) Stukatrooper's AP Build
  20. My set up has the mic on a boom that has the mic resting on my lips. I can get it a little farther away but then too much farther and it doesn't pick up as well. As for feed back, I never really had a problem with it unless I turn it all the way up. I usually turn it up until I start getting a little feed back and then turn down slowly until it's gone. By then it's still at a level where it nice and loud. I also have put a foam wind screen over the mic which seems to help with the feed back. Having the speaker down on the chest plate also helps a lot to reduce feedback. You could always do a wireless set up if you want it in the helmet. (Smitty's Wireless Wally How To) With the mic in the helmet with a transmitter and the speaker on the chest plate. I thought about doing it. Had the walmart amp set up that way and liked it, except for the lack of volume. Thinking about doing it with smalltalk just haven't got around to it.
  21. If you take the box/case apart the mic wires are pretty easy to detach/reattach and the case goes back together fairly easily. There are white two pin connectors that are used for both the mic and the speaker to connect them to the board. Here a picture of what I am talking about. (See the arrow) I am trying to remember how I got the plastic piece off of mine. I think that there is a small piece of plastic that you can pry off that holds the mic in place then I just cut off the round piece of plastic from the mic wires. If you can get it detached from the board, you may be able to pull the wires through. I hope that helps. I really like this speaker system. It gets nice and loud without feed back. I'm using the mic that it came with and have it behind my chest plate. Let me know if you have any questions or if this isn't clear.
  22. Congratulations on making EIB, Arron. It's good to see another GA garrison member make EIB. Glad to have you in the ranks and hope to troop with you soon.
  23. This is the neck seal that I have. It's a good neckseal and I like it. The Velcro can be a little awkward at times to get it just right but bottom line it's a good neckseal.
