  1. This is not the most accurate build and I have riveted the sniper knee plate on along with the thigh ammo pack.
  2. Here's a look at some of the finished parts with the completed cover strips.
  3. Next is to fit the cover join strips, these go an the front and back of the arms and legs. When you are happy with them simply glue and tape down and wait to dry. Here you can see how they cover the two parts of the clamshell.
  4. Next is making the parts fit you. You will need to offer the parts up and see how much they need to be trimmed for a good fit. This is where the time will soon add up for your build. If the two parts do not met up 100% that's ok as these armour parts will be butt jointed and a joining strip added over the join as the originals were. So you will not see the ugly join. I use blue tape to check fit and hold the parts together while glueing. This shin the parts do not join up that neatly but you will not see this later.
  5. The same methods are applicable to all the armour parts so I will not be showing me working on them all.
  6. To make things neater I use sandpaper to smooth the edges, if you are going for the accurate look leave them rough.. it may pinch when you are out trooping though..
  7. Im going to have a fairly small return edge on the parts to make this more comfortable for trooping as I wont be using the accurate strapping methods to construct this armour. Otherwise I would have left a bigger return to accommodate the screws needed. I use a pencil to mark where I will cut and am using lexan scissors to trim all parts.
  8. Ok I have decided to be a stormtrooper and will be putting together a kit. I am going to post up most of the build, please beware I am not the best photographer.. So here is how the parts arrived rough trimmed out of the box. This suit is 2mm ABS plastic and fairly standard to work with.
  9. You think this thread should be resurrected to bash screen accurate builds? I've been away from here for a little while and everyone has taken to picking holes in to uber accurate builds. Once upon a time it was considered rude to bash people who had less accurate armour. Now it seems the be de rigour to bash people at the top of their game. I just don't get it. If you ask a supplier to build you a suit. Surely one of the first questions to be mused will be how do you want it built? Accurate or practical? If there was a problem with a particular build I would have thought a pm to the guy who built it would be appropriate not a thread calling them out unnecessarily.
  10. Thanks mate - I think that's down to the photographer making me look good
  11. What do you think of this costue and how would you feel being at an event with me wearing it? I still do not get people who do not like people who want to make their costume s accurate as possible, i just dont get it..
  12. I have also recently trooped in TM's personal 1mm suit, and as locitus stated - it is awesome :~)
  13. Ok I'll try this tomorrow, I'm at work now ;-)
  14. I was using my notebook from home. I was able to post an image on the UKG board using the same photobucket link but unable to here.
  15. Ok so when I click on the direct link in photobucket and then return here I am unable to continue to carry on with my thread post and that included inserting the picture or being able to carry on writing in my own thread. I have no paste option to insert my link to my photo...
  16. I seem to be having issues inserting photobucket photo links in to a thread, so this is an test..
  17. I look forward to seeing the completed helmet finished.. Does anyone know how many FG set for stun lids were produced from the Dave M helmet?
  18. The thigh elastic is 3 inches wide so for those Europeans out there that will be 75mm not 50mm that's only 2 inches....
  19. Because the helmets were such a complex shape to pull a flexible plastic was required and all that the guy who did the work had was green. So they were pulled in green and painted white. The armour being less complex allowed it to be pulled in less forgiving abs in white.
  20. What year did I sell you that suit out of interest? Having seen and held an original suit used for filming now, I have since come to realise how accurate that build was now back in the day. And that was way before most people took me seriously!! I was far ahead of the game even if I do day so myself ;-)
  21. I'm glad to hear somebody remembers the old times with Gino, it used to be fun in those days...
  22. I use inch white elastic, it's prob meant to be 3/4 though..
