  1. I forgot to add: there are several video tutorials on trooperbay.com. Highly recommended!
  2. Lexan scissors, sandpaper and an exacto is all you need. I do have a dremel too, but if you're running it at high speed, there's a chance you'll melt the ABS. Be careful there. There actually are threads about trimming (and making return edges etc) around here. You just have to look.
  3. You're one ugly motherXXXXXXXX! Ooops, wrong franchise, but it fits.
  4. Doesn't really matter. They can'tbe seen anyways. The elastics on the originals were glued on until some came off. Then they were just riveted back on.
  5. You can either find a pair of jodphurs and dye them withe, or wait until they find a new supplier.
  6. The most famous example: Han's ESB jacket ---------
  7. No, sorry, I have to disagree. You'd need some point of reference.
  8. Mathias' introduction, 3 years ago:
  9. I'll try! His father was an avid model builder, there must be dozens of tins. Maybe our favorite gray and blue are included!
  10. You can't determine any shade of any color by looking at pics. My BF has some vintage humbrol tins (late 70ies/ early 80ies) somewhere in the cellar. I guess it's about time to dig them out...
  11. You'll find even more helpful threads when it comes to building Ordering is just the first step....
  12. Yeah, everyone is entitled to a free post once in a while.
  13. It seems like yesterday this young Swede appeared on this forum. He soon became the very first ANH Centurion and now he's our Deployment Officer (and web guy) Thank your for all your hard work, Mathias! :salute: :salute:
  14. Screws and rivets for ANH and ESB, glue for ROTJ. Look at the helmet builds around here. And don't want to burst your bubble, but you will be spending THOUSANDS of dollars on mateials and several years of hard work until you maybe get a movie quality suit of armor.
  15. LOL! I hope to get them done before Ep. VII ;P
  16. Pics will help a lot!
  17. Finally got some time to work on the mold... stay tuned!
  18. Cover strips are accurate for ANH and ESB, overlap for ROTJ only.
  19. What Daniel said. Make yourself a "trooper jar/box" where you put in some change every now and then or, say, 10 bucks a week. It will soon sum up! Or sell some Star Wars related stuff here or on ebay
  20. Making it yourself with resin and fiber glass won't be cheaper than an ATA kit. And you'd have to be a experience sculptor to get everything accurate. And please stay away from ebay when you want to buy armor and/or helmets
  21. Here you go: http://www.trekcore.com/specials/rare/shatner_kirk09.jpg
  22. Almost any suit can get into the 501. It does not depend on the brand, but the build. It has to fit you. Example: A bad fitted RS suit with white Elvis boots won't get you into the 501st. A perfect build FX with an accurate helmet does.
