Early 2019 CRL update change requests
Frank75139 replied to CableGuy's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Like I said doesn’t affect me so I’m fine. I’ll help anyone do whatever they want and answer any questions I know the answers to. I just know if I were to get on and see centurion requirements being tube stripes had to be a certain mm distance, I’d be like eh forget that. But again that’s me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Whatever the hell the want? Doesn’t affect me at all. I think it’s ridiculous but I’m not as crazy into it as everyone else. My costume sucks, well not sucks but there are a few things I don’t like, but it’s mine, I built it and I did it myself therefore I love it. I don’t see a need for any levels higher then basic. If you want to be exact join and prop club or something of that nature. This whole thing is driving me to drink (more). I joined here knowing nothing and I learned quite a bit. I did my armor my way, no snaps cause I don’t like snaps, it’s velcro. I stuck around to be a friendly hello when people joined. Everyone likes a happy place. I was approached about the attaché program and figured it was a good way to help people and show them they can do whatever they want with their costume, there are a few ways to accomplish the same task. I’ve been an attaché for less the a year but the way things are going really brings me down sometimes. I don’t agree with a few things including the idea of submitting my armor to peers for approval. I get we have to do it for basic that’s someone that has guidelines and other people’s interest in mind when approving. It’s just my opinion and not directed at anyone just my thoughts. There is a huge emphasis on getting a higher level. I don’t see why, again that’s me. I joined to troop and meet some like minded people. I’ve accomplished that and plan on doing it for many more years. I just know when things get worded a certain way people get discouraged. Yea centurion may be super easy for some people as it is but not for others. And why does it have to be difficult? Ramble, ramble, ramble and I’m done for now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I think if you want to change it for L3 it’s fine I just think you should stay away from exact measurements on anything and take into consideration body types when establishing “gaps” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Curiosity... When did that costume pass centurion? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Ok I’ll take a stab at this one. Stormtroopers were mostly clean white with the Sandy being the exception so that’s why we stick mostly the clean look. The CRL stats on some builds that armor will be “weathered” the TK CRL does not. As for question two. I have AM armor it’s thick there would be no need to reinforce most of it. With that being said I recommend to everyone to reinforce your chest. I’ve had issue with cracking due to basic movement. It’s no fault of the maker I love their armor it’s just me not being used to having a armor on. I’ve danced in this armor at various points and sometimes forget I don’t get the same range of movement that I normally do. Hope some of that helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed if the group is hell bent on doing this and it seems some people are we should stick to phrases like that. Anytime you put measurements in it gets too strict. I think it should be the same for tube stripes. It’s always been said pencil width, stripes are small and go on a small surface, I’ve got fat fingers, they landed where they landed. Why should one be kept from centurion due to fat fingers and bad paint skills. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I agree with the bells, thighs look decent in the first few photos then they droop I’m assuming from movement. Do you have a garter system or something holding them up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The consensus is yes to some changes that don’t change things unless you want to change those things and then your free to change what you think needs to be changed cause everything changes and change is good..... But let’s not forget a no to changing those things that don’t need changing cause they’re ok not to change and change would be bad for those things.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I’m just saying my side and didn’t mean to interrupt your post (but yea I did, so my bad). I think this is getting way outta hand. People talking about mm height and gap sizes and everything. I get people want to look as authentic as possible but this hobby is nerve racking as hell when your building something that already cost about a grand. I honestly don’t think any thought was put into building these things in the 70s, if the guys who did build them could see this thread they’d probably laugh. Everything was made to look “similar” not exact. If they wanted exact they would have done a ton of reshoots to take out the shots where people’s armor was falling off, missing parts, held on with tape and well you get the point. Not to mention the fact that the people that are centurion already and now you want to make more requirements for centurion. They’ll all get grandfathered in so they’re good? That makes no sense. Your either centurion or not if your armor doesn’t meet centurion specs then it’s not centurion simply put, everyone has to be the same right? Again Swede I hi jacked another of your posts so I’m sorry I just wanted to say It wasn’t intended to come at you or anything I know you didn’t think that but I felt the need to just say it, cause your a huge help around here and I don’t want you thinking I or anyone doesn’t appreciate it. I’m a straight shooter and if I’m coming at someone they’ll know. I’m just one person in this FISD cog and this is just my opinion. While we’re at it I don’t think all Vikings wore the horned helmet I believe it to be only a certain rank of Viking (I’m not an expert though). But I do think the horned helmet should adorn the TK on the Swede badge in which Matt is currently working on an interesting thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

There was? I see a few different heights. And even if there was an intended look, you honestly think they measured each one to the exact mm or just eyeballed it to look close? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Great now we’re gonna start a new thread and have a 10 page discussion on the origins of Vikings. We all know they’re from Minnesota here in the states guys. Let get back to how many mm of boot sole we should have for the CRL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I honestly think more thought goes into this here, then the original prop makers put into theirs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I’ve seen people try it on Scouts only to take it off because it causes issues when removing it. I’ve personally never lost mine but I’m still fairly new so I’m sure it is possible. I have mine wrapped in leftover felt fabric, same concept just softer. As for the little bend I bought mine premade, but it’s a thin metal so I’d say if you wrap it around the the TD for the big bend, screw it in, then place a pencil or screwdriver in there for the little bend it should work but again I’m newer so I’m sure you’ll get a few ideas on it. Most of everyone’s mess ups are fixable. Some are just more extensive or require new parts. Most suppliers have stuff handy to sell if needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
