    Oh for sure!  That way it can be a visual reference of the 3D files then and show what is inaccurate for it for 501st approval

    Oh the printer is more for me, and him getting a FOTK costume is more practice for me before I start doing my own.  I want to tackle the Sean Fields Shoretrooper for myself and possible Inferno chest and back armor as I already got the bucket.

     

    Plus the printer is sooo cool!

    Hes excited for now, we will find out in a few months what his attitude is once we get him suited up lol

     

    Since it was more a build I wasn't sure if the 3D section was a good spot to capture that piece.  And since I purchased the files I did not want to post the files for sharing (plus they are not quite 501st approvable so I did not want that to be confused with anyone.)  Thought I could document the build and show what goes into finishing the 3D printed parts here.

    Hi All,

     

    Wanted to capture this build I am doing for my 5 year old that is a 3D printed FOTK.

     

    Now I have reviewed the 3D printed files and they are not 501st approvable without some modifications but the aim here is the kiddo wants to be a stormtrooper and the files are good enough that it will meet that goal and still look really good.

    I purchased it for about $30 as it was a good base to build for him and my 3D modeling skills are still far from being anything respectable.

     

     

    For my printer I have a Tronxy X5S that has been modified to linear rails in the X and Y axis.  Heat Bed at 24 volts and a duet 2 wifi board.

     

    Most of the parts I am currently printing in Inland White PLA 1.75mm using a 0.6mm Nozzle and a 0.15mm layer height.

     

    I am also using Armorsmith program to get the scale correct to the kiddos frame.

     

    In Armorsmith, you get an avatar and with body measurements you can adjust the avatar to a decent model of your body.  This greatly takes a lot of guess work out of scaling a print to size.  

     

    Below you can see the forearms and biceps have been completed in the print.

    Walt does offer larger bells now.  I know on my WTF kit, I removed all the return edge on the bells and then I removed the return edge on on the outside of the bicep allowing my arms to come in closer.  I still have a bit of a gap but its better until I finally pull the trigger and get them larger bells

    Hi Derek!  We are happy to help you with your TK build from WTF (mine is also a WTF but really they all go together pretty much the same way)

     

    Feel free to ask lots of questions and post pictures when you start your build.  Walt is great at getting you replacements for when you do have an oops moment so do not be afraid it is only plastic :) 

     

    Welcome to a larger weird family of plastic spacemen and spacewomen!

    Hi Kevin,

     

    The TK family is all about Troopers Helping Troopers, so what do you want for fans?  It can be super simple as running of a few AA batteries or can do a USB plug to use a battery bank as a power source.  On/Off switch? sure we can get you setup as well.  

     

    There are a few of us here that make great helmet fan setups (Troopercoola, UKswrath, Henrys, and myself) that you cannot go wrong with any of those setups.

     

    I'd definitely be more than happy to help you out with making your own setup if you want to go down that path.

    Oh my quite a bit actually....Been assisting a few cadets in my local garrison on getting there costumes together and up to EIB/Centurion.  Helping one get a shadow trooper assembled.  Than working on my next costume I want to do as well. 

     

    Other than that working on some prop projects that I hope to role out to everyone in the coming months, and building a new house.  Plus my day job which I've taken on new responsibilities and have been traveling a lot lately.  Too bad my Husky tote won't fit as a carry on, other wise I'd bring it with me and troop the country.

     

    Whats up with you TK 71627?
