  1. Ok, the main problem I'm having is with the right ear not lining up properly. That, and it cracked. I'm gonna order another pair from ATA and retry, unless you guys think it's fixable with some putty. Critique away!
  2. PM sent. Merry Christmas from the land of (almost) eternal snow!
  3. Well, the major assembly is done, no pics yet, but I'll have them up asap. It came together pretty wonky and I think I'll need some filler for the ears (or a new set) since they have a pretty good sized gap between them and the bucket. I got my brow the way I want it tho so that came out good. All in all, not a bad experience for a first time.
  4. That's gonna be one purdy blaster. Are you taking pics of ALL your progress so you can put together a tutorial later?
  5. I think Terry really embodies what it is we do here. Not only is he good at what he does, but he also shares his advice freely. He's got my vote.
  6. I'm willing to let Lucasarts redeem themselves after TFU. Right the trailer looks good, just like the first one did but I'm still willing to give it a shot.
  7. I never said it was all bad just that I would rather cut out the middle man. Now if that same helmet from the same person was available here on FISD for the same price, would you still like to use ebay to purchase it? The reason I say stay away from ebay is that they're like using Ticketmaster vs. just buying your tickets at the booth. Sure your chances of getting the seats you want aren't as great, but you're cutting out the middleman and all the fees associated with it. Ebay is more expensive for everyone. Nice score on the bucket BTW....lets see some pics!
  8. Does anyone else hear warning sirens going off when looking at this armor? Never have truer words been spoken. Buying from someone on FISD is like supporting your local economy. Buy local and you're not only going to have a better buying experience, but better pricing as well as helping out other troopers. I've bought from ebay and it pales in comparison to buying from other home from my "second home".
  9. Snow and high teens to mid 20's in MN.
  10. I noticed one thing, and this MAY be because my screen is a little blurry, but are there finishing strips on your biceps? I couldn't see any myself and I think they're required for EIB.
  11. She sure looks purdy!
  12. Hey Andy glad to see you've made the decision to wear plastic for fun. You and I are about the same size except I'm an inch taller and maybe about 10 lbs heavier so I know how you feel. I've got an FX rig right now and have been thinking about upgrading to the ATA. I've heard that if you do it right with shims it should look pretty good. As it stands right now my FX is tight on me, as in "tight like a glove". It all depends on how it's trimmed. Do it right and you should be set.
  13. As far as I've seen the one I want isn't taken yet. I want 5759; it's the years my parents were born and they're the ones who had to keep renting A New Hope for me from the video store.
  14. I second that! A lot of good info there.
  15. Just wondering if you already glued the ears on, or if it's all one piece. Regardless it's a really interesting bucket since I've never seen one like it. Keep us updated on your build!
  16. I'm thinking it's an older style FX faceplate with a dome I've never seen before. I need to see more pics to figure this one out...
  17. Darksaber

    been out

Now it's time for the OTHER kind of trooping, eh?
  18. Ain't that the truth. I haven't even finished my bucket but still love it anyways.
  19. Ok so I'm having some problems getting my bucket finished up. Painting won't be a problem, it's the assembly that's making me too scared to even work on it. I'm having trouble getting my faceplate to sit right. I like a high-brow and the problem I'm having is that when I get the brow to where I want it, the front of the cap'n'back sticks out A LOT right above the eyes. Is this problem remedied once I get the ears on? Advice? Suggestions? EDIT: I forgot to mention that I haven't trimmed down the top of the faceplate yet. Other than cutting out the eyes and teeth I haven't cut a thing on the faceplate, so if I trim down the top will that help alleviate my issue? Don't want to do any unnecessary cutting.
  20. Wow...this suits looks amazingly awesome and the quality of your build really gives me something to aspire to.
  21. Tyler, glad you asked before you bought. I wish I had done that before I bought from Ebay. I can tell you as good as anyone else here, it's a scary experience buying from the 'bay unless you know the seller. I went weeks and then those weeks turned into almost two months, wondering if my armor was ever shipped since there weren't any messages from the seller. There are plenty of highly reputable sellers right here on good ol' FISD. Ask and ye shall receive.
  22. I don't have any that are Star Wars or Imperial related.....yet. However, I do have the Superman 'S' shield on my left shoulder, a cross with my initials on my right, and "Iron Maiden" in olde english going across my back. The plan is to get the cog AFTER my daughter's born next month and have her name put in either the middle of it or surrounding it.
  23. I can't speak for the full suit but I can tell you the bucket's a work of art.
  24. Sadly that's one of this guy's ghost accounts. Notice the font? It's all identical. To tell the truth, I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up to be starfortress in disguise; even thinking about it makes my bile rise, because I bought from this guy. None of those shadow trooper pics are his. I've seen them all elsewhere and I highly doubt that if they're this guy's pics that he would be the one to have posted them elsewhere. Bottom line: buying from this guy is like drinking until the ugly person across the bar is pretty. Yeah, sure you'll get what you want but you'll hate yourself in the morning.
