  1. Yeah that site's setup looked suspiciously like starfortress's. I'm staying away on principle alone.
  2. I've been following that same tutorial pretty closely but still can't achieve the look I'm going for. Must just be my lack of skill....
  3. The look you're talking about it exactly what I want. I'm just having trouble getting the faceplate to sit tightly against the cap whenever I try to attach it. I mean I almost want "Move Along" kind of brow.
  4. Ok, finally, picture time. I haven't made a whole lot of progress since I've been pretty busy lately. I've got one ear cut out and ready for sanding. I'm going for more of a stunt look and I'm still trying to get the cap'n'back positioning figured out for that. I used clamps to hold it in place while I tried to get it attached but whenever I DID get it attached it seemed to loosen up on me. Can't seem to get it the way I want it.
  5. I think I read that same thread, something about Harrison being able to sit down in armor. I sure know ABS doesn't let you do that.
  6. I can tell you from experience from working on an ATA bucket, MAKE SURE YOU'RE EXACTO KNIFE IS SHARP! Good luck and post lots more pics.
  7. I didn't know either, but in my defense, I bought mine from him before finding the FISD and getting myself "educated" The armor's defo recast, but not junk, just FX. It's the guy's level of communication that's junk. I must have emailed him about 10 times in as many days and only got 2 replies back, both of which only danced around my questions. He wouldn't give me a tracking number nor let me know when it had been mailed. I waited for about a month before it showed up. So don't worry, it'll show up and it won't (mostly) be garbage. Just make sure you toss the aerators, velcro, ab buttons, and elastic that's sent with it. And don't assemble with hot glue. Unless you only plan on wearing it once.
  8. I've dealt with him as well. My experience was....dubious, terrible, horrendous (pick a word)....at best.
  9. I was thinking, why doesn't Lucas consult with some of the armor makers in the community and create a marketable set of armor with them? Not only would he be able to sell a product that we can all accept regardless of of our individual favored armor maker, but I'm sure his suits sitting in the vault have degraded somewhat over the years, and it would also, in a sense, give us our "license" to troop. Therefore, everyone benefits. When you boil it all down, regardless of all armor making and trooping, we owe GL a huge debt of gratitude. His vision gives our life purpose.
  10. Dirty.....dirty.....dirty.....
  11. My bucket just showed up today and damn am I amazed at it! The pull is so sharp and the plastic looks really thick too. Pat yourself on the back ATA, this is fine work. Pics to come soon.
  12. I'm pretty sure I know what rivets and snaps are, but what is a chicago screw?
  13. Alright, I took the plunge and ordered a new bucket to replace my FX. I just trooped with it over the weekend and didn't mind it up until then but after six hours, yeah, it does get a little clunky. So my new ATA arrives on Wednesday and I'll be posting a LOT of pics to make sure I'm doing everything ok. On a side note, I rushed to get my FX thighs done and ended up riveting them to my belt just to hold them for the day. Also got some nice little cracks in my calves from this wonderful frigid Minnesota weather. Can anyone PM RT-Mod's info so I can get some new thighs and calves?
  14. I think it's looking great so far and I'm insanely jealous of your SA suit.
  15. this compendium is awesome. it gave me a few tips/ideas to do to my almost-finished fx kit.
  16. I wonder if maybe its from overuse of their moulds. I'm sure they get a little warped after a while and I think the "over-wonkiness" is just from bad assembly.
  17. Speaking of whom, their prices are OUTRAGEOUS! Can they even ship to the US with what happened between them and LFL?
  18. Maybe they just did a horrible job of assembly.... <_< Either way, I'm not trying to bust anyone's balls or diss any armor maker, I just remember the old saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is..." And yes, STAY AWAY FROM EBAY!
  19. Got the same problem with my kit. I'm thinking about going ATA for a bucket. Should solve the problem nicely.
  20. Welcome Eric, Glad you're listening to the advice. I dealt with this guy a while back and while the armor is ok, he took forever to ship and didn't communicate with me very well. Glad you asked.
  21. I just wish my wallet was that flexible....
  22. I'm trying to figure out how to easily and permanently attach the plastic shoulder strips to the chest and back plate. Are white rivets acceptable? Right now I'm using velcro.
  23. It's hearing stuff like this that really warms the heart.
  24. Check this site out. It's given me a lot of info on everything. ----------------
