  1. Ok today I’ve been trimming the shoulder bridges, the abs button plate(the small one) and the thigh ammo belt First the shoulder bridges I believe the shoulder bridge widest bump goes to the front and five bumps (or us it ridges) goes on the chest piece like this Then onto the ammo thigh Trimmed Does this radius look ok But what is the length from the last ammo block to the end? Ab buttons trimmed And taped on the ab.... is this looking ok? Following on from yesterday ..... I think I need to cut the cod..... to help to give a gap between the cod and thighs.... I guess I will have to bite the bullet tomorrow ..... Another step forward Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hi Christine, I will do as you suggested.... your post was very delicately put.... do you work in the diplomatic service Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hi Christine, thanks for the feedback . I remember the Halloween pictures you posted last year.... they were amazing . Yep thigh ammo belt working on today, don’t k is why the right thigh is playing up? Need to take another look at it.... hope I haven’t cut it wrong The belt fell off the snaps so I’m going to fit some industrial Velcro like you advised frank Now a very important question.... do I need to cut the cod? I’m thinking it may just give me a bit of room around the thighs? What do you think? Stirrups... I haven’t done them yet... tried snaps and couldn’t snap them.... also thought if magnets? May have to go down stirrup route I’m getting there slowly but surely I appreciate all your help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I’ve tweaked the butt, the arm strapping and the ab / chest strapping .... then I tried it on again Now apologies... the excess belt is showing over my thigh .... I will cut that off.... also the left shoulder Bell snap came undone... doh.... Anyway you will get the idea of how it’s coming together Actually it’s a lot easier to walk in than I thought.... indeed I dropped the remote camera button on the floor and managed to bend down to pick it up .... didn’t think I would be able to do that.... well chuffed So pics I think it’s coming together well. How is the chest /ab looking re where the buttons will go Thanks for all your help I could not have done this without the UKG or FISD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Some more progress made over the past couple of days... however I’ve ....well ..... I was trying to heat the butt to try and get it to fit better and this happened Got it a bit too hot and put my thumb in it.... not too sure what to do... leave it as it is ? Or try and heat it out? Thoughts appreciated .... I’ve been working on the thighs, trimmed the excess and then rebuilt the return edge with a heat sealing iron Used some abs paste to Smith things out... just needs sanding now I have reworked the left greave to make it fit better around the boot ... I had to remove the internal magnets I then had to re trim the greave Then glued it all back together They fit a lot better now I know it’s daft but I wore these today whilst I was working on the armour, the right is perfect but the left actually it’s the sniper knee plate digs into my knee... so I think it needs some padding .... they didn’t ride up at all when I was walking around ... oh attached magnets to the boots Then tweaked the shoulder bells and arms.... they fit much better now Then fitted the drop boxes and riveted the amp to the belt The green tape marks where the drop boxes need to align to when the ammo is removed All riveted up And on the ab Some good progress but gutted about the heat damage to the butt.... hay me n heat guns don’t go well together lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I have attached the biceps to the bells with snaps , I’ve adjusted them and got things more aligned .... will do another fit next week but the arms are now feeling much better .... thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks for the advice:) I will look at the arms... I don’t think Ibadan the biceps up high enough? So I will check that out first . I will also have a look at the chest I’m getting there bit by bit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Today I’ve fixed the drop boxes to the belt Not too sure if it goes here Or here I also installed some Velcro.... the soft side to the outside of the TD brackets.... hopefully that should stop the brackets from scratching the kidney armour All done Then I fitted the inner cover strips to the thighs.... after test fitting yesterday , the right thigh was perfect. The left was a bit too wide so I trimmed it about 7mm and then fitted the inner strips One final question.... the back of the thighs do need trimming..... I’m guessing they need to be trimmed as shown by the yellow tape in the pics below Another step forward today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Well today has been the first proper test fit of my armour ..... boy it was difficult to get on .... much harder than my motorcycle leathers ...... oh and sorry..... I couldn’t put my lid on .... so you will see a rather old and ..... well only a face a mother or wife could love..... you have been warned..... My biking mates make me wear a black visor so they can’t see my mug when we are out riding..... see Anyway... back to the armour... I’m chuffed in part and well not so chuffed in others..... The torso isn’t as bad as I thought and I can’t get the cod any higher without singing an octave higher .... I thought I may need to cut the cod but now I think it’s ok I’m happy with the thighs, they need trimming at the back but the front seems ok? ... the right thigh wasn’t on very square I don’t know why? The right greave fits well but walking around a bit I found that the return edge at the top of the greaves was rubbing against my knee.... perhaps a bit of foam in there will do the trick... The left greave rode up and came over the boot.... it’s too wide at the ankle so I will take it in a bit I’m pleased with the TD and the ammo belt .... one question.... are the drop boxes riveted to the ammo belt or held on loops.... I have found advice which recommends both do I don’t know which is right? As I said it was really difficult to fit the armour..... my shoulder bells are still too big.... I did manage to fit the left bell to the shoulder snap but with the left arm armour on I couldn’t reach the right shoulder snap ... so the bell kept falling down..... how on earth I will manage the shoulder elastic...... well that..... thankfully is a problem fir another day.... Given the difficulties I’ve experienced today it’s no wonder the pesky rebellion has gathered ground..... I mean if we can’t get our kit on.... never mind navigate steps and not mentioning the inaccuracies of our blasters...... it’s no wonder we are struggling to retain law and order in the galaxy ...... You will understand my frustration when you see the pics..... Advice much appreciated..... sorry about the mug shot [emoji20] And the belt...... rivet or loop? Thanks for your advice..... I’m getting there.... rather slowly..... [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thank you for your kind words, I’m glad you have enjoyed my thread and the odd diversion I’ve been on.... Not this year. But we went here last year... thought you might like From the other side And saw this Just a little diversion..... back to imperial duties now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Post deleted.... for some reason I managed to double post the previous post.... doh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Today I’ve been strapping the torso together..... I have hand stitched the elastic.... and used bolts to hold the an and kidney together..... the idea is that I can dismantle the torso if I need to trim it down.... which I think I will .... well I’m not known for being tall lol Anyway hopefully first fitting tomorrow and we will take it from there Position of the rivets Various pics of my rather unusual strapping Actually the butt and kidney go well together Pity the same can’t be said fir the back piece All strapped together As I said... this is all temporary ... so I can easily dismantle it if need be .... the bolts will be replaced with the split rivets once everything is sorted.... I do think I’m going to have to reduce the torso...... didn’t realise I’m not as tall as I thought/ think .... doh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Thank you Sir Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. No I didn’t find the answer to that but I’m I had come to the same tonight process as you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I think that’s a great idea and I’m sure your son will enjoy trooping with his stormtrooper dad [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I keep referring back to your build thread and Christine’s...... I would have been lost without them [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Sorry it’s the biceps and forearms I’ve been working on today.... don’t know why I forgot .... doh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Im sorry but sometimes I forget things.... I know what they are I just can’t remember their names...... sorry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I seem to have made a lot of progress today.... don’t know why.... but it seems that all the work I have done to date is finally coming together..... I started with the strapping for the arms .... Started with the shoulder Bell strapping.... Punched a hole Fitted the top of the snap Job donm Stuck the male straps on the shoulder Bell.... just stuck them on with duck tape.... tat way I can work out their final location before finally gluing them.... Then did the shoulder to the above elbow bit .... sorry senior moment .... I’ve forgot what that part of my body is called..... doh Bracket stick to shoulder bit Fitted the shoulder to the other bit Taped the bell straps ... again trying to get the right place before I glue Sorry no pic Then did the bottom erm to the middle arm Really chuffed with that.... even though I don’t know exactly what I’ve done .... lol Then I sorted out the thigh strapping.... I can remember that name Trimmed and glued the drop boxes Then finished fitting the torso brackets I feel that I have got a lot done today.... I’m well chuffed [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Fantastic Frank, the transformation is amazing [emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji3][emoji3][emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Today I’ve been making the snaps to be fitted inside the arms and thighs First cut abs strips to hold the male snapper Drilled hole in centre Before snap fitted And after All done Then fitted the reinforcement to the ab and chest fir the brackets Then moved onto the drop boxes Measured where to drill the hole on the inner piece, one inch down and in the middle Fitted the elastic with the pop rivets Not too sure if they need a tad more trimming... what do you think? Thought it’s best to check before I glue And they are then fitted here Getting there bit by bit [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. A little bit of progress.... it’s been a busy week... our wedding anniversary, our granddaughters birthday and today my birthday. Got my wife a night vision camera fir our anniversary, Ferdinand the fox comes each night for his or her tea.... now we can see him /her My youngest got me this for my birthday.... it’s one of those things you think you don’t need until you have it.... a bit like a gear indicator on a motorbike Anyway I’ve used it and am well chuffed.... first class present [emoji3] Well I’ve hopefully fixed the split in the back armour ... just needs sanding Started to fit the ammo to the belt.... now I have eight of these things I’m thinking three fir the ammo belt. Two fir the holster and two for the thigh ammo? Is that right as it’s not so clear on the packet... oh and one spare Firstly I measured the centre of the belt between the two snaps which were already fitted by RS The centre was 16.5 inches from the edge of the snap and 1.5 inches from the top/ bottom I drilled the hole in the centre of the ammo belt and cut a hole on the belt with a leather hole punch The above pics are of the hole I made in the side.... didn’t take any of the centre hole.... doh Anyway a bolt fitted as a temporary measure ahead of the rivers being fitted Then I drilled the hole in each side. Placed the ammo belt on a piece of wood to help Fitted the ammo belt to the ab section Clamped it in place Marked the hole on the belt behind Cut holes and fitted bolts .... now at first I thought this isn’t right But actually when fitted to the ab it’s perfect .... the radio is if the amp is ever so slightly bigger than the belt. By doing this I was able to compensate fir that..... it wasn’t my idea one of the armours on UKG told me.... good tip.... thanks [emoji3] And finished.... well not quite it still has the bolts... that’s so I can fit the drop boxes then rivet the ammo to the belt One question.... do I do the drop boxes now or wait till I’ve sorted the thighs out.... I mean will drop boxes fitted to the belt make it difficult to see if the thighs / cod are ok..... Saying that I guess I just don’t need to fit the belt...... perhaps I’m thinking too much .... lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Today I’ve been fitting some more torso brackets..... all was going well until I did this to the back piece.... What’s the best way to repair it ? Abs paste? For some reason the back piece doesn’t line up with the kidney piece..... I was trying to make them match.... yes I used the heat gun and the return edge just split..... I must have used too much force ....doh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Well I’ve started to fit the strapping brackets to the butt and kidney armour I have previously re-enforced the return edge with additional ABS..... it still needs some final trimming with the Dremel once they are fixed on Oh dome extra snaps I bought to use to strap together the arms Tried a test drill hole on some scrap ABS Tried the bolt fir size Decided to counter sink it Marked out where to drill the first two holes on the centre of the butt Marked the holes o the centre of the kidney Fitted the bracket Now I don’t have a sewing machine so I’m going to have to stitch the elastic by hand...... how tight does the elastic need to be? On I have fitted five of the six brackets today .... so done reasonable progress..... I also fitted a snap to a scrap bit of elastic..... just practising for the arm strapping..... will attempt the same on some ABS next Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
