1. Thanks Christian, I will tweak the eye and the tooth and make it follow the contour of the frown. It's not until other people point things out that you see where it needs tweaking, it's a bit like the old saying "you can't see the wood for the trees"

Once again, many thanks
 2. Today's progress Is the gap between the teeth looking ok? I've filed it a bit, also do the eyes look ok. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
 3. How is this looking, do I need to take out a bit more top and bottom ? As indicated by the pencil line? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
 4. Ok work has started today, drilled some 3mm holes in the eyes and big teeth and 2mm holes in the rest, now starting to cut it out, it's a slow job, one slip and I will have a toothless TK , so I will take my time, slowly, slowly catch the monkey as they say Some pics I'm enjoying this Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
 5. This topic is fantastic Frank, thank you. Like you I'm 5ft 5ins so I can see I'm going to have to do what you and cricket have done.... gulp, I'm not looking forward to cutting down the chest piece.

Like you I have gone down the RS ABS route, but I only have the lid at the moment, I need to order the armour soon.

Also like you my lid has a dint in the same place as yours, I just assumed that was part of the wonkyness of it all

Cracking read, thanks and can't wait to see the finished costume

 8. Well after a lot of reading and research both on here and the UKG I finally took the plunge, well read that as I've dipped my toe in the water, what I mean is I've ordered and now received an ABS ANH lid from RS propmasters

It's in kit form so I need to cut our the eyes and teeth, fit the ears and the thing that's worrying me most, paint the tubes, well that will come later.

I'm thinking if I can do the lid then hopefully, and that's a big hopefully for a small guy, I may be able to trim and put together the armour. Crickets build in here has been an inspiration, thanks

I'm so pleased that I went with RS, they are a northern business in Manchester which is only 20 miles from me, so it's good to support local businesses. I must admit I was blown away, in a good way when I opened the box on Christmas Day, yes the lid is wonky , yes it's bumpy and yes it's awsome , I am well chuffed with it and can't wait to get the armour, but first things first, I need to build my lid

This is the pic I took after opening the box, hopefully it will work

The next pics I have pencilled in where I think I should cut the teeth out and the eyes, the second pic has two lines on it at the top, I'm not too sure whether to cut the top or bottom line, your thoughts are appreciated

I intend to drill some small hole some in the teeth and eyes with a hand drill and then cut them out with an x-acto knife, I will post some WIP pics . The guys on the UKG have been kind enough to tell me what colour humbrol paint to get for the lid, so that will be my next purchase.

I would like to say thank you to all members on here, especially those who have taken the time to pull together how to threads, WIP threads and instructional videos plus the do's and don'ts when it comes to purchasing your TK armour, you have all helped a complete novice to take the first step toward success becoming a member (hopefully) of the 501st, thank you all
 9. Very sad indeed, RIP
 10. Thanks for the advice and incouragemnet guys, I have read mrs Crickets build thread and I must admit it I found it very confidence inspiring, this thread, along with some others has actually got me thinking "yeah have a go, you can do it" ......

A few months ago I knew nothing about armour, to me all storm troopers were the same, I'm no expert, but I no way have a bit mor if an idea than I did, I know when I start a build thread I will be asking loads of questions, one thing I do know is there are guys and gals on here who are there to help new troopers overcome the obsticals they encounter during a new build...... knowing that help is there is priceless.

Is it ok to do a wip build thread on here as well as the UKG?

Once again, thanks, I would be lost without your advice

Cheers

Stephen
 11. Firstly, I hope I have posted these questions on the right forum, please accept my apologies if I have messed up.

Had a good chat with Rob at RS prop masters today and I've decided to go with ABS plastic, my question now is do I build ANH lid and armour of ESB?

From my searching on the UKG and on here it appears that there are far more ANH troopers than ESB troopers, indeed the was also in the films. Does it matter when you are trooping if you are ANH, ESB or ROTJ trooper, or are there specific troops for each trooper? ESB is my favourite film, however having spent a lot of time researching I'm starting to rally like ANH. I'm also guessing that I could build ANH and then just change the lid, gloves and holster to swap to ESB? Does that sound doable?

Finally speaking to Rob about trimming down the chest and back for my short stature, he said when this was done for Luke they did not put the return edge back in on the back and chest, he suggested this was the easiest way for me to cut the armour to size, would that be ok for legion membership? But would it prevent EIB or Centurian application?

Again many thanks for your encouragement and the advice and tutorials that are on this forum and UKG

Stephen
 12. Congratulations ken , nice one mate, I'm really chuffed for you. Thanks for the advice [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
 13. I have read this thread with a lot of interest, and like other threads on here it is full of useful information, I too am looking at RS ABS or PVC. I'm small, so I will need to cut the armour to size, I mean really small 5' 5" so I guess I'm going to have to resize the butt, kidney and chest plates. I have looked at interest at Crickets build of an RS ABS costume which is very detailed and informative and I have a couple of questions regarding ABS and PVC, hence me asking them on this thread....

I know an iron can be used to put the return edges back onto ABS, but will this work with PVC?

Whilst you can use ABS paste to fill in any imperfections what can you use on PVC?

Apologies if these questions are answered somewhere else, sorry I haven't been able to find them
 14. Good luck Ken and thanks for your help and advice, it's very much appreciated.
 15. Thanks for the links Christine I will find these helpful too , I'm very similar in size to penguin trooper
 16. You are taller than me lol I'm 65 inches and 145 lbs , I'm still looking but must admit I fancy the RS Prop armour , there is a guy on here who is 64 inches and he made it fit [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
