  2. I did remove that. My forearms have thin strips on the inside to hold the two halves together. Then the resin strips over the seams. I had to also sand my resin strips down a bit from the bottom as they were to thick otherwise.
  3. I have my belt front permanently attached to the strip onnthe bottom of the ab plate, and snap plates onnthe inside where my cod attaches. I still have the rear strip but it's cut out the width of the center kidney plate. My back closes differently from what others have done. I have an interior plate that snaps in to close the torso, and the seperat ab plate velcro over it. My butt plate has straps that snap it to the lower strips on either side. And the back of my belt velcro over it and attaches at the sides over lapping the front belt ends. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
  4. Your first picture where it's missing is from a Hot Toys figure. The front of my belt attaches to that part. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
  5. I got one of the first R1TK kits from 850. I love my kit, but initially there was a lot of guesswork because no one had an abs kit before. So had to do a lot of guess work and comparing to threads with Jim's kit, and a lot of online and forum references. My biggest and only suggestion is ditching the abs shoulder straps as is for sd silicone rubber ones, e sd po specially if you're looking to carry the R1 Patrol Pack. The rubber straps are able to handle continuous use of a pack, and also helps in keeping the straps from sliding off. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  6. I used blue craft foam. Bought a pack like this at Walmart, used the dark blue, which looks darker in the picture vs what it actually is. Cut two rectangles and glued them in. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

    Holster

The R1TK does not have a holster. Alternative is a DLT19 with a sling. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  8. As far as I know only 850 is currently doing the R1 in ABS. As for comfort, about the same, as for mobility, it's all dependent on how you build it and how it fits you. I know I have more mobility than my ANH, and I can suit up on my own with relative ease. A lot of that came about during assembly and how secure I wanted things, and how parts connected. 9. I'll get some strapping pics up near the end of the week. All strapping is made from 1" wide black nylon, or 1/2" wide elastic. I use quick connects for the shoulder straps, and the thigh straps. Shoulder straps are connected via snaps to the chest and back plates via snaps, and the shoulder bell connects to a side strap from the shoulder straps. Bicep is attached by elastic strap and snaps to the bell. I highly recommend getting rubber straps instead of the abs that connects the chest and back, especialky if you are ever considering using a pack. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  10. Screen from first episode. Note the cut vents. We do not need a seperate CRL for the R1/Solo/Mando TKs outside of minor option updates to the main CRL unless there are major deviations. There is zero reason to add a ANH bucket to these TKs. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  11. My cover strips and the back plate of my helmet are not 100% matching either. So I wouldnt stress it. The armor looks good! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  12. The shins are the same for both sides. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  13. I'll get some pics when I get home this evening. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  14. I made a block about 2 1/2" long from excess cut off from a thigh cover strip. I drilled two holes through it, the back of the TD, and the belt. I used a 3/4 pop rivet and washer through from the belt, through the block and into the TD to secure it. I'll take a picture tomorrow evening and post it. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  15. Get a set of files to clean up the cuts. Using an exact may removes to much plastic if you have an accident. You'll have more control with a needle file set. Amazon has sone ver good an inexpensive ones. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  16. Found these on shapeways, a bit pricey, but may work for you to get an accurate look to the helmet. https://www.shapeways.com/product/8QPB2Z6EW/stormtrooper-helmet-grey-parts?optionId=62710787&li=marketplace Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  17. I took some close up shots. Maybe you can scale them and print them out to use as templates? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  18. "Edit: I forgot to ask if anyone has a template or a guide for the slits on the helmet that have to be cut out. I am a little nervous about trying to guess about the spacing." I would suggest finding a picture of ESB or ROTJ decals and printing them out to use as templates maybe? The big thing is that they are on a raised surface, just not slits cut into the spaces. 19. Trooped the Mothman Festival this weekend and got my strapping to sit better and more secure. Was able to get a few 3 hour long stints in armor even with the heat in the upper 80s. Mobility in the R1 kit is so much better. Just a few comfort tweaks to do, and some more troops to fine tune it. Sent from my SM-T597P using Tapatalk
  20. First field test with the armor went great! The only minor issue was my left thigh drooping a bit because I didnt have the slide buckle above the quick release secured well enough. Other than that, went from 10:30am to 3:30pm in the kit, with about 3 hours with the pack on. Nothing on the armor felt too constricted and no armor bites. Pack sits great and the rubber straps kept the pack strap on place, not sliding off and resting on my shoulder caught under the bell like my Anovos kit. I even sat in a chair when helping judge the kids costume contest! Even made the local paper on the first outing! All in all, great kit, and I learned a lot more building tricks along the way to make the kit comfortable, durable, and easy to get in and out of on my own. Still not thrilled about the R1 belt design, but managed to make it semi presentable. Sent from my SM-T597P using Tapatalk
  21. Approval came down today! First field test this Saturday! Sent from my SM-T597P using Tapatalk
  22. Only a few issues I had to fix. Need to bring my back up a bit. Trim mah buttplate so I don't have saggy trooper butt. And fix my "ii" 's as I glued them on with the ridges at the top cause I wasnt paying attention to what I was doing. Sent from my SM-T597P using Tapatalk
  23. I attached one of the big flat plastic strips to the front with poprivets, and it arced out enough for gluing on the belt face and lining the slots up the best I could. Sent from my SM-T597P using Tapatalk
  24. All done! My left thigh is a tad high in the pictures, but its on an adjustable strap system so easily taken care of. Moving around in it is a huge difference than my ANH TK. Inalso tried on my pack and it sits better, and with the rubber straps, it helps keep the back pack straps from sliding off to the side and getting vaught under the shoulder bell. The extended/larger back also helps alleviate the weight by pushing the pack into a better vertical position. Overall I learned a lot of new things with this build. My only complaint is the belt. The all plastic construction is a pain to deal with, and I hate the notches at the top of the belt. Because of the softer details of the abs pull and how far back the bottom lip sits, it was difficult construction wise to get them in as well as I could. Sent from my SM-T597P using Tapatalk
  25. So all major construction finally done! I hate the R1 belt btw. Have to glue on 3 more of the belt face boxes. Going to trim the top of the thighs just a bit to get them to sit a little better and improve movement. I had a hard time getting the thighs to close because I couldnt quite reach. Aloso going to improve the shoulder strap connections and add obe or two elastic straps from the ab to the inside if the chest to keep it from pulling up. All in all I think Im pretty much done.
