  1. Todd, I don't know if you have anything like this in the US, but it works a charm for quietening down rattling plastic. I run a strip around the inside of my breastplate (so that there is no contact between my breastplate and my Ab plate). I also run a strip around the inside of the bottom edge of my shoulder bells. I lubricate them with a bit of talcum powder so there is no binding between plastic and foam.

  2. I was very curious as to how you all go about importing 'E-11s' (if thats possible) or does everyone make/convert them here?

I will read that thread, thanks Dave.

I'm on the Mid-North coast,(Wingham, near Taree), so please feel free to get in touch with me as I'm all alone out here & would love to catch up with some of you sometime :-)

We don't do it legally, as there isn't a legal avenue open to us. My favourite E-11 is a hand made pipe build.

I could easily go to gaol for a couple of years for my collection, but that is a choice that I've made.

The stuff in the link that Krazy Ivan posted is legal to import, but once you've put it together it is illegal.

Join up on the Southern Cross Garrison forum. We have a member and a cadet in Tamworth, and a whole pile of members in Newie and Nelsons Bay, with regular events in Newie. I know it is a couple of hours, but it aint a world away.

  3. Hi Graham, you're probably asking this question on the wrong forum. FISD is mainly populated by people from the US, and US weapon laws are very different to Australian weapon laws.

Replica weapons are treated exactly the same as the weapon that they are a copy of in NSW. If you get caught with a replica Sterling SMG in public in NSW, you face exactly the same charge as if you were carrying a real one. The way the law looks at it is if the general public think it is a real weapon, it is treated as a real weapon.

The Sterling SMG is a prohibited weapon in NSW. You can not get a license to own a real Sterling, or a replica Sterling, unless you own a museum or are a collector. If you manage to get a license as a collector or museum owner it will have to stay locked in your museum or collection, and you will not be allowed to take it out in public.

Please have a read through this thread, and you'll get an idea about how the NSW Police may act if you try and push the issue with them.

We get away with carrying our E-11's because the Police turn a blind eye. Our E-11's are the last thing to get unpacked from our kit bags when we put our costumes on, and the first thing to get packed away when we get out of our costumes. We do not wave them around, we do not point them at people, we do not take them on troops where we will be on public property. We always ask the people that we are trooping for if they are ok if we bring them out. We are very careful with them.

    Dave.

  4. Hey juan

So if I. Did te TD I can use this helmet? And 501st would accept te TD ?

I defiantly have some work to get it fitting properly after that would it pass?

But after 501st definitely looking at medp and fisd ANH stunt approval

Already have knee plate , ab 3 button plate, canvas straps and helmet decals and looking at helmet in for sales here for $225 "smally" suggested if you could check it out tell me if its ok? (Which I'm having trouble finding again) but more than happy to work my an impolite person off on armour to get it right

Hi Vince, good to see you here :)

Mate, you won't be able to make an ANH Stunt costume out of a Rubies kit.

    Compare these 2 pictures:

    Rubies Kit.

    Image flogged from zsavk.

See how it has a ridge around the outside of the armour plates? That is only on ROTJ suits.

    TE2 ANH kit.

This is what an ANH suit looks like. No ridge around the plates.

Without cutting that ridge off, and replacing it somehow, your options are a ROTJ TK, or an ANH Special edition TD.

  5. Luis, I've read through this thread when you first put it up, but until I met Olga and yourself at CVI it really didn't mean anything.

Olga is such a tiny, petite little lady. You've both done an awesome job on her kit.

    Congratulations, Olga, you look superb!!

Oh, Luis, your kit looked ok as well ;)

    Dave.

  6. Gordon, you will likely end up with a few different E-11's. You'll need to get a hyperfirm or build your own pipe build for EIB or Centurion, but you'll also need something you are willing to break for when you do a Weird Al concert, a fun run, or just something to hand over to the kids to play with.

In the end, you will probably have all three.

To start with, go with what you think you can do yourself. A doopydoos kit is easy to make, and will get you trooping a lot quicker and easier than a pipe build. A good pipe build is a fair bit of work, but is ultimately more satisfying to have and use.

  7. Hi Bev, and welcome to the FISD!!!

    Seantrooper -

I probably have half a dozen photos of me giving you big hugs! Your snow trooper suit is awesome. I geeked out every time I saw it. Good job :) Given that I'm Tamworth, I'll probably end up having a lot to do with the redbacks, if I can. Queensland's the easier trek from Tamworth than Sydney is (which is where most of the SCG seem to be judging by the map), and I'm an ex-Brisbane girl, so it's still home up there :)

    Bev

Yeah, Tamorth is pretty much right in the middle of Sydney and Brisbane, but you seem to have forgotten Newcastle.... We have quite an active bunch of TK's there, and it is 200km closer to you than Brisvegas.

The guys have regular armour parties, and quite a few trooping opportunities.

  8. Rob, to each his/her own.

I've always looked at the Star Wars universe as a used and abused place.

I'm sure the Emperor didn't give out armour contacts to the highest bidder, they would have gone to the lowest. He wouldn't have given a damn about quality control, he had hordes of cannon fodder, so it didn't matter.

My kit hasn't been polished in 4 years, nor will it ever be. it is now naturally weathered, and I love it this way.

Wonky, dirty, lived in, just like the Star Wars universe.

  9. I've actually signed up over there before I came here. Took a few days for my username to be activated. But as of right now I can't start any threads or reply to anyone elses posts.

Hi Glen, welcome to the FISD!

Sorry mate, as I'm sure Graeme has let you know, the SoCross webdude is in the US at the moment. That left me, the internerd inept CO, to set up your account. I forgot to asign you to a member group :(

I think, hope, know that I have just fixed you up ;)

  10. I'll be dragging my TK along to CVI, then driving up to D*Con. If i'm going to be flying for 23 hours, an extra week in the States aint going to hurt :)

I'm old, blind, and easily led astray, is there a thread mentioning when/where the FISD photo is going to be?

  11. Hi Dave,

    The boots look awesome!

I wish I could find a brand new pair of size 10's. What kind of paint or dye are you thinking of using?

    How do they fit?

They are bloody beautiful. And they fit perfectly!

It's going to be a shame to put paint on them... but I shall :)

There is a paint here in Oz called Tautflex, specifically made for canvas and other flexible things. I've used it on canvas belts and boots before, and it works pretty well.
