  1. I'll be dragging my TK along to CVI, then driving up to D*Con. If i'm going to be flying for 23 hours, an extra week in the States aint going to hurt I'm old, blind, and easily led astray, is there a thread mentioning when/where the FISD photo is going to be?
  2. Hop to it Tom, this thing aint gunna build itself Mate, good to see it getting together. There should be another armour party coming up soon. Keep your eyes peeled...
  3. Bloody hell, not again. He was in jail. Must have gotten out
  4. They are bloody beautiful. And they fit perfectly! It's going to be a shame to put paint on them... but I shall There is a paint here in Oz called Tautflex, specifically made for canvas and other flexible things. I've used it on canvas belts and boots before, and it works pretty well.
  5. There you go. I that case, I've got nothing. They have no other markings.
  6. That's all there is. No other markings. Goodyear Welted boots like these, no matter how generic the sole may be are as rare as rocking horse poo. Paul is right, these just don't appear that often.
  7. Folks, the pictures on the evilbay sale were not that good, and no brand name was mentioned. I bought them on Paul's word. I'll put you all out of your misery and post a bunch pics when I have boots in hand.
  8. Paul, thanks for the link. I've picked them up. They only cost me about $40 more than a set of TK boots would have, and about the same price as my first set of CABoots, so, reasonably cheap. Paint them, I will.
  9. It sure does I'm 5'9", and I still get it all the time.
  10. Picked up a sample of the 38.1mm pipe, and guess what, it is 38.1mm OD It is shiny stainless steel though. I'm going to have a play with it on the weekend to see if I can get some paint to stick to it. The joys of working for a paint company are that I can experiment for free
  11. Lucas, I've found a place that stocks 38.1mm OD stainless pipe... in 6m lengths... but they won't cut it I'll go and have a chat with them and see if I can work something out.
  12. You have to keep an eye out when buying pipe in Australia. Electrical conduit is measured as an outside diameter, plumbers pipe is measured as an inside diameter. Exhaust pipe is measured as an inside diameter. Gauge is a measure of the thickness of the pipe wall. From memory, the smaller the number, the thicker the wall. So, a 1.5" 16 gauge exhaust pipe would have a greater diameter than a 1.5" 20 gauge exhaust pipe, which would have a greater diameter than a 1.5" electrical conduit. I may have this all wrong, but one way or another, pipe sizes are different, depending on where you buy it.
  13. Lucas, it isn't impossible to get a stirling in Australia, it is just very illegal. I've not yet looked at the plans, but I've just done some measurements in comparison to what you have posted above. Mag housing is close enough to 43mm from front to back. The rear sight is 11mm between the semi circles, and about 16mm outside measurement. Trigger guard is about 11mm wide. The trigger sticks out about 29mm, but it is all sorts of curvey, so it is hard to tell where you measure from, and to. The shieldy things are about 49mm around, but again, you have to do some creative tape measure bending to go around the curve of the barrel. The cocking handle is 63mm from tip to tip. I have never owned, touched, nor pulled apart a sterling.
  14. Hi Eric, how long you going to be in Oz? Jervis Bay is about 2 hours south of me. Sorry mate, we had a troop down that way over the weekend. All of our troops for the next couple of weeks are in Sydney, nothing that far south Don't suppose you will be in Sydney at all?
  15. Excellent, I'm mid way between Sydney and Wollongong, and we have a number of members living around the 'Gong. We had a troop in Gerringong about a month ago, not too far from you. If you need anything, give us a yell on the Garrison forum.
  16. Hi Cameron, great to see you here Mate, I see that you have joined up on the Southern Cross Garrison forums. Are you based in New South Wales?
  17. Unless someone remembers what was written on the can of paint that was used, there is no way to work out what it was. I've been in the paint industry for 25 years, and all we can ever tell is what it is, not who made it. 30+ year old white gloss enamel paint is 30+ year old white gloss enamel paint is 30+ year old white gloss enamel paint.
  18. Almost... TK-J got his ROTJ EIB 18 months ago, and there are 3 or 4 other ROTJ TK's in Oz. Doesn't change the fact that it is the sweetest ROTJ bucket you will get
  19. Peter, I think that what the guys are saying is that no one has any idea. It was probably whatever was lying around the shed at the time.
  20. Using latest Firefox on computer, and whatever version of IE that my windows phone uses. Looking and working great on my phone, looks like crud on my computer
  21. Kevin, not bad at all Everything is there, all you need is a bit of fiddling to get everything tidy, and you are done!
  22. Thanks, J I've been experimenting.. I'm using Tautflex, which is rubberised fabric paint. Found that they make a canvas undercoat, which brings it down to 2 coats. It is also tintable, which means that I can make it an off white colour, rather than stark white.
  23. When I joined up here ( 4 and a half years ago), it cost me $1200 to get an FX suit to Australia. A year later, it cost me $1500 for a TE2. Now I can get an ATA for about $600. EIB, straight out of the box There is so much info here, and a bunch of folk who are happy to help you out. I like it Edit: 4 and a half years ago, I was the first person in my state to get a bucket that wasn't an FX. Now we only have one FX in the Garrison.
