1. I love doing guard duty , seeing how many people I can make jump when they finally work out that there is actually someone in the suit .Depends on the event as to weather we keep our buckets on . Most events we do , but there are times when they come off . Our squad has done a number of charity walks (8km and 15km ) and the buckets come off every now and then for these . The full day events are also a bit less strict , unless there is somewhere to go that is out of the public eye .

  2. Oh, so the thingie under the barrel on my gun is a folding stock.

Silly me :), thought a folding stock was those things on the back which you have against your shoulder when shooting.

They are one and the same . Thats why it's called a folding stock . It folds away when not in use .

    Folded

    Unfolded .

I agree, ABS look better than fabric, colorwise and all, but don't have any. So, fabric will be a temporary solution. I'll see what I can find.

Try your local hobby shop . You can buy A4 sheets of white styrene for about the same price as fabric .

Well, these guys are elite and I see no white elastic on any of them http://www.whitearmor.net/elite/... ok, now looking more closely, I see 3 of them that have white elastic, but others clearly have black. Maybe these pictures were taken before white elastic was a must.

I'm one of those guys , and I can tell you now , I have white elastic holding up my drop boxes .

  3. Kent , the folding stock doesn't actually have to fold out , just be there under the barrel . There are numerous ways you can do it .There are folk on this forum that make folding stocks . There are resin kits you can buy , or you could make it yourself .

To close the side gap , I think you would be better off getting a couple of strips of ABS or some other white plastic to do it with . It will look more like your armour than white cloth will .

I'm pretty sure that all of the Elite troopers so far have white elastic for their drop boxes .

    Dave .

  4. Paul , thanks heaps . It's really great to hear comments from the people who understand the need to improve on the basic model . Most of the TK's I know are happy as Larry with a basic kit , and good luck to them . I like to get it as right as possible . If I knew when I was buying what I know now , I'd have spent my dollars on a TE /TE2 / AP kit and been done with it .

I've been waiting on a set of "screen accurate " bells to come from the UK since Feb , but so far ... nothing .I've been putting off my application for Elite status for so long , I couldn't wait any longer . When they finally get here , I'll be a happy lad :)

  5. Bernard , you my be right , hope this helps .

They are from Ruff Terrain . The photo doesn't do them justice , it washes them out a bit .

Yeah , the holster aint bad ... some bloke by the name of Bernard whipped it up for me in his spare time ;)

Boss , I've just thieved a new set of thighs . I'll cut them less , but this set is really comfortable . And yeah , I love my E11 . It took me months to make , and cost me way too much money :)

  6. Hi , brothers and sisters . I've been working on this for some time , and finally got my act together . Please have a look and tell me what you think . I'm a bit bent in some pics , I tore my right quad a couple of days before , and was having trouble standing straight .

Oops , I've tried to post too many pictures .... double post it is ;)

  7. Hehe , Paul , thanks for adding those extra age brackets in . I don't feel so old now ;)

Like quite a few others here , I saw Star Wars in the theatre when I was 12ish , so that makes me what , ... 43ish ? I'd like to say that I'm having a mid life crisis , but I'm the same child I've always been . The only difference is that I have more disposable income now :)

  8. Well ... when I logged on , I had no idea that I would learn so much information that I'll store away in my meagre brain, and never use again ...

Thanks to you good people , there is no need for me to step outside the house and commune with the common folk today , my day is complete !!!

  9. Just a heads up, take the info on Parts of Star Wars with a grain of salt. They have been incorrect on many things over the years. It's a great resource, and they have done a great job, but the info over there is not gospel.

Indeed , this is true . What I think it shows though is that no matter what the actual numbers were , there were really no hard and fast rules when they were making these props . They were making them to a very small budget , and as most of them were only for the background troopers , they didn't really need to be consistent . It is only now that we have hi definition capabilities that we can see any of this detail . I'm fairly sure that back then , they didn't really care , as long as the bloke in the white armour looked like he had a kick a very impolite person laser gun in his hand . For me though , my E-11 has all the bells and whistles I can fit on it :)

  10. Just had a look at Parts of Star Wars ( thanks to the 2 Chris's for all their work ) , and according to them there were 8 different versions of the E11 in ANH . 5 had the cylinders , 4 of these had Hengstlers , and only 2 had the wires . I suppose by the time the propmakers had finishes making them , they didn't really give a damn if they had wires on them or not .

Here's a pic from there , showing the wires , but it doesn't really help too much .

  11. ...A few of us had a a similar chat with Steve Sansweet in the UK. His words were, 'well if you're in Oz in 2008, look me up' ...

Yep , those of us in Oz are waiting ...

...but there has been NO requests as of yet for extra's from the 501st, and they've had to have been filming for a while now... But, trust me, we would know :) ...

I work 15 minutes from Fox Studios in Sydney ( where Eps II and III were filmed , and where the series , if it ever happens , is supposed to be being filmed at ) , and I know a few folk who work there , and at this stage there is nothing happening . But .... I went for a wander through the place last night , and there are some very large , very empty , sound stages there atm .

Us local 501st live in hope :)
