  1. Oh cool! Great idea! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

Any thoughts??
  3. I wondering if you could do a big cover strip on the inside the the standard 20mm on the outside. When you do inner and outer strips the outer are really just for ascetics because all of the hold and strength comes from the inner. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  4. Wow man! Very cool! Looking good. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  5. To be honest I used tin snips, marked my lines, and cut it, then sanded. It worked very well for me. There were some thing I scored/snapped but most of it I used the tin snips. Also, Im not sure if you are doing this or not but I highly suggest adding cover strips to the inside of everything. Some say its not necessary but I have found that it makes the armor very very strong! Plus the inside strips do not have to be exactly 20mm. they can be a little wider. I actually used scrap the left over pieces for inside strips. it just gives it more support.
  6. hey man! good start! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Its nice to see a new TK in the Carolina Garrison!
  7. wow that is great!!!! YES anything helps. I thought about getting enough donations to purchase a TK helmet and assembling it but we are running out of time as the Race /auction is Sept 17. I am doing the Weird Al concert Sept 10 and thought that if I had a bucket donated, I could ask Al to sign the inside. Another idea was to auction off a child birthday party with a few 501st member appearances. Not sure if that would be a logistical nightmare or not but could be fun.
  8. Ok Im not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, and if it is not then I am sorry. I am a 3rd grade teacher at East side elementary school in elizabethton TN. I am also a member of the Carolina Garrison (tk22710) a few years ago our principal (and friend of mine) was diagnosed with ALS and only given a few years to live. He was a runner so our school decided to host a 3k race to raise money for his medical expenses. In addition to the race, we are also hosting a silent auction that day (Sept 17). Teachers were asked to bring items to add to the auction. I thought since our school LOVES SW that including a TK helmet or any helmet for that matter would be a great thing to add to the items auctioned off. It can be a kit, or a "B grade" sort of bucket. I can assemble it and put it up for auction. I am doing the weird Al concert the week before the auction so I was hoping that if I had a bucket donated I could maybe get Al to sign it before putting it up for auction. I know thats sort of a big wish but one can hope right? Anyway, I am looking for anything that can be donated. If you would like to help you can email me at phil.ledford@gmail.com. You can also learn more about Josh Wandell and his story at teamwandell.com thanks guys phil

It this part at the top of the shoulder on the chest plate. Sort of a return edge. It digging in to by shoulders. Guess I need to file that down?

  11. I'm having lots of discomfort lately when I wear my armor lately. It feels like the shoulder strap part of the armore is digging in to the top of my shoulders. In fact it's leaving marks on them that I noticed the next day after a troop. This was not the case when I first built my armor in the spring. Any thoughts? I will post pics later tonight.
  12. Navajo Bro's AM 2.0 Stunt build here ya go. scroll down to the helmet build part. this helped me a ton! Good luck!
  13. the helmet build is the hardest part. Yes the front and back do not match up perfectly. Its gonna take some work to get it to all screw together. It did for me and i struggled for a while with it. I took comfort in following navajo bros AM 2.0 build thread. In that head he mentioned how putting the front and back together was a pain in the butt. Just know that once that is done, the rest of it is much easier. I would follow his thread for sure. It is very well documented and easy to follow. I will look it up and send you a link.
  14. for me, when I had the teeth cut out to that point, I didn't have a file but what I did was fold a small piece of sand paper and "flossed" it back and forth in there till I had it the way I wanted. It worked VERY well and I didn't have to buy a file.
  15. Looking good man. and welcome to AM 2.0! As far as the back of the bucket goes, yeah I had the same problem and I think most people do. If I remember correctly, I went back and put a small drop of Zap a gap under that part the used my magnets to hold it together till it dried. It helped quite a bit, however there is still a small "bubble" on the back but its not noticeable. The only thing about zap a gap is that stuff dries so fast and so permanent that you really gotta be careful. I used e6000 on almost everything so you could use it on the back of the helmet too. just use some strong rare earth magnets to hold it till it dries. Looking good so far! I totally remember how nervous I was when doing that. The good thing is that the more you do, the more confidence you will gain. If you have any questions at all please feel free to PM me. I can send pics and help you out. Good luck!
  16. So is your chest, abs,and cod not stay attached or is it just turned on its side? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  17. So my wife bought me a Husky to transport my TK in. Does anyone have a specific way you pack it all in and can someone provide pics? I feel like I'm just cramming it in. Of course I have thighs and shuns inside the clam shell but what about all the rest?
  18. So I'm picking up a male manniquin this weekend but it is a headless one. Any thoughts ideas, or tips on what to do to make the bucket stay on?

I'm not sure what to do next. I just got my email from the 501st so now what?<br> Excited to start trooping!
  20. Hey good luck to you man! I remember my excitement waiting on my BBB day. Also, mistakes happen as you build. They are going to happen. What you hope for is that they are not major mistakes...but if you go slow and take your time you will be fine. Even if you do make mistakes trimming, you will find that most mistakes can be corrected. Just be careful and pay close attention to what parts keep a return edge and what parts don't. If you have any questions just let me know.

  22. So I have finished my AM 2.0 kit. I am very happy with it, just need a holster. Looking to purchase ANH stunt holster. Who do you all recomend? Can you provide me with links to their threads? Thanks!
  23. --------------- So even though I still have some trimming of the thighs left to do and still need a holster, today was my very 1st time wearing my armor in public. I am a 3rd grade teacher and today our principal(seen here) made sure we all celebrate Star Wars day today. I suited up and greeted students as they entered school this morning. It was amazing watching their reactions! Doing another star wars event tonight at Barnes and Noble, then a star wars field say at our school with other characters.
