  1. Hi guys.. In the process of building up a 'not so common' ROTJ style E-11.... however, I've found that the t-track is different to the ANH & ESB specs. Looks more like a squared U shape rubber track from the pics I've seen. Anyone have any extra info on this, and where I could possibly obtain such track ? Cheers
  2. I've owned FX. GF. RT & MRCE lids over the years, and apart from the huge FX, the other 3 are about the same size IMHO... especially when you cram everything in them. I have a full ROM/FX setup in my MRCE, inc speakers !! I have a single PC fan facing upwards, stuck between the 2 speaker pods. Bit of a squeeze, but heat build-up has never seemed to be a problem.
  3. I owned a set not long after he starting producing them... way before all the LFL stuff began. Even popped up to SDS and got a personal measuring session, so it would fit spot on. Certainly is nice armour, but as mentioned above, does break easily. I fellow UKG member went through 2 or 3 chest plates. AA replaced them straight away, so you can't say the service lacked, which is a good thing. He won't ship to the US now, so no point asking IMHO... and it is pricey for what it is. Luckily got mine way back before the price rocketed. Sold it a fair while ago now... purely due to funds. IMHO, it was nice to have a set made by the guy that made the originals... shame he lied about the origins of the armour he is selling now though.
  4. In all honesty, it's still cheaper to buy armour from the US... even though the pound has weakened.. I ordered my kit from Deckard, and it arrived here in the UK within a week (5 days IIRC). Shipping prices were very good, and his service is second to none. I couldn't recommend him highly enough... FX lite is defo the way to go.. and coupled with the MR CE lid (modded), they make a great combo.
  5. I've been having the same problem too.. I have a set of resin ones on their way from a fellow 501st member in the US. When they get here, I'll get some measurements, and let you know. Unless someone beats me to it of course....lol.
  6. Give Atlas Seals a try.. they seemed to be the next option when Seals Direct dropped the correct style trim. www.atlas-seals.co.uk HTH
  7. Separating the cod & ab shouldn't make any difference to Elite status, as the cut will be hidden behind the belt. Doesn't help with sitting down... that's near on impossible to do whatever mods you do to it.. All it does is help with movement a bit better.
  8. I've too noticed a slight change in colour.... must be a dodgy batch... My first tin was the correct colour, but the second was much lighter. Luckily I managed to scrape out the remains of my first one to keep the lid and TD the same colour. The second tin has since been retired to the bin.
  9. A fair few UK Garrison members have a unit called a 'Troopercom' rigged up with the ROM/FX voice unit. At large events it has worked very well, as when staff members need to get hold of a squad, they can call them up on the walkie talkie. It's basically a unit that links the walkie talkie and ROM/FX together. The use of a hidden magnet in the finger, and in the bucket switches off the ROM/FX and activates the Troopercom unit. The ROM/FX microphone is used too. When the 2 magnets are disengaged, the ROM/FX unit works back to normal. Members have the walkie talkies hidden in the back plate (or somewhere out of sight), and an ear piece linked to it so they can hear what's going on... Hope that's made sense...
  10. You can get the first three items from B&Q stores... For the glue, I've found their own brand Clear Plastic Glue does the job just right. Need about 3 tubes for a complete kit assembly though. For the helmet padding... all you need is some knee pads as found in some Industrial overalls....these can be purchased separately. Possibly even find them in B&Q, but never had to look for them though.
  11. Best to keep the ROM/FX on the 8xAA's and have the fan on a single 9v setup. The board is a fairly robust bit of kit TBH... you get a balloon to put it in, so the moisture stays out. Mines been getting abuse for over 4 years now, and never let me down.
  12. Mine was done with a brush... apply just the right amount, and you don't get any brush strokes showing. I believe the originals were made from grey drain piping, so had no need to be painted.
  13. Get well soon mate..
  14. Humbrol #5 is perfect for the job.. You don't need a bigger tin either.. I done mine with a small tin, and it hardly used any at all... even with 2 coats. You don't need to paint the whole thing, which saves paint. The parts where the end caps sit, don't need paint, and the bit behind the 'button plate' or whatever it's called doesn't need it either. Keeping the plastic in those areas bare, gives a better bond when you glue those bits on..
  15. Dam, how times change... They didn't have batteries supplied 4½ years ago... As for the mic, yes as Matt said above it's one of things that does need upgrading. I still have the original 1st version mic in mine, and still going strong after all these years... not sure why John replaced them TBH.
  16. Except batteries... For those, you can either run a single 9v battery, or the 'more power - longer running time' option of 8 x AA's
  17. Cheers Bill.. Tried every hardware shop in the area, and couldn't find those dam threaded posts.... didn't want to go online, as I'm submitting my clearance pics tonight...and couldn't wait TBH.. I tried those poppers, and couldn't for the life of me get them through...... would go through the belt, but not the holster.. At least I'm there now though...
  18. Shame I can't make it to the Spinnaker troop.... just down the road from me too.... Anyway, back to topic... When I first had my TK gear, I used a shade 5 lens.... great for outdoors, but useless for indoors... way too dark... Swapped to a shade 3, much, much better... but had to darken out the interior just to be on the safe side.. Never had a problem since..
  19. WOW oh WOW.... Possibly 'the' best bucket I have ever seen.... even better than the screen used ones IMHO... The attention to detail is superb, it's been nailed perfectly... now... where's my wallet....
  20. No mate.... tried those, but they weren't long enough to get through the holster strap leather. Having 4 MTB's has it's bonuses... and plenty of spares.. It's the next best thing I could find to the treaded posts... they are infact the bolts used for holding the chainrings onto the spider..
  21. Over the past week or so I've been racking my brain to find a way of attaching the holster... I didn't want to go the rivet route, as I wanted it removable... Couldn't find any of those threaded post bolts anywhere here in the UK.. so had to think of an alternative..... Here's the result ; (click the pic for bigger version) Any idea what they are ?? I thought they made a good alternative.
  22. Here's a few more for the ANH list. Met them at a convention a few years back. Salo Gardner - Stormtrooper Mike Mungarven - Stormtrooper Terence Mustoo - Star Destroyer Crew Jerry Baker - Imperial Scanning Crew Stephen Fitzalan - Stormtrooper Paul Bannon - Stormtrooper Noel Hawkins - Stormtrooper Tommy Weldin - Gela Yeens Had a decent chat with most of them about their SW days... Was interesting to know it was basically a 'free for all' when getting the TK costumes kitted up. Hence the fact most of them had bits missing, not put on right, didn't fit right etc etc..
  23. Requesting access here too.... http://www.501stlegion.org/members/display...php?userID=4262 Cheers Mark
