  1. looking nice, just to confirm this mod must be carried out before 'clearance?'...is this right?
  2. you should forward this to George Lucas...and maybe when he gets around to releasing the blu-ray editions..(lol..) he could 'edit' this scene in with CG.
  3. you could check out 'heatshocks' lid, ------------
  4. has anybody in the u.k. got any of this lense material ready cut for a MRCE?..(stunt) I'm gonna be needing a set very soon.
  5. after finishing my hasbro conversion...(just needs a little 'dry brushing to pick out the details) i have a question, whilst removing the original toy's 'muzzel' cap..(the orange bit), i wondered if anybody had come up with a way to 'modify' this 'excess cap' to fit onto the end of the new resin parts..(just for transportation purposes to and from a troop), i know that the legislation concerning 'replica firearms' is ..shall we say complex at the best of times... but my thought is that the use of the exsisting orange cap may prevent the local 'armed police' popping a 'cap' in yo an impolite person.. any suggestions?
  6. an excellent looking helmet mate. hope everyone who sees it appreciates the time and effort that you put into it. I'm in awe..
  7. whoops..... show's i'm still learning about armour doesn't it....
  8. i presume this is a rubies bucket then? http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.x...duct_id=1224010
  9. not sure if i'll get away with posting this here but point your phone browswer at www.operamini.com and follow the on screen prompts it's a better browser for a mobile
  10. ah ahhh!. thats the idea i'm going for. damned fine work my friend, damned fine work
  11. now that i'd like to see, p.s. (where did you get the blue pads from?)
  12. damn...that's an excellent looking bucket, i just love the 'blue' padding.... top marks for you effort buddy, you've done a stuuning job.
  13. what did youuse for 'padding' i'm currently toying with the 'knee pad' idea...or even the full foam set up .(like the american military helmets....this thread...http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=2549&st=0&p=31479entry31479
  14. lol, just got back from there, thanks for the info, i'm now the proud owner of a wee tin of humbrol no.5.... they also sell a cheap silicone adhesive.....about £3.99...i've bought some to try on the brow trim...i'll keep ya posted on it. (all my worries are now over.....well apart from what to use for helmet padding..but thats another story.) thanks guys keep it white....
  15. thanks for that nate, i'm not particularly bothered that it's a bit wonky, and thus not perfect.. whilst doing research on it i discovered that the movie originals were never 'perfect'. the more perfect helmets that everybody seems to be wetting themselves over are the result of computer manipulation. so in retrospect my helmet ,(with it's blatently obvious faults)..is closer to the originals than any new helmet ever will be. (maybe folk should check out www.starwarshelmets.com before they deem it nessesary to slag off and take the piss out of somebody elses work..) (lets see your work then ..eh?) that said......(rant over).. here's a few more piccy's.------------
  16. NOT DONE ANY TROOPING YET..UNFORTUNATELY...(BUT I'M LOOKING INTO GETTING HOLD OF A FULL SET OF ARMOUR)....(whoops..just spotted i've typed in caps...sorry) as it stands at the minute..the helmet has had 6 coats of white paint, every coat flatted down with 1200 wet and dry, i'm still toying with applying laquer to it.. (as it's a display helmet, everybody who see's it will wanna put it on......won't they?...) got the hovi-mix tips to fit yet, as well as handpainting the 'mouth or frown', decals to apply, brow trim and neck seal to fit, and maybe a set of padding for the inside. but i'm pleased so far how it's coming along.. next project is to get hold of a MRCE and have a play...
  17. for the neck trim i'm planning on using silicone sealant, not sure what's best for the brow trim...hot glue maybe? or silicone... glad you sorted your brow out...would have been a shame to just bin it...
  18. as mentioned a while back, my children bought me a 'fibreglass' one piece cast of an SDS stormtrooper helmet from 'the bay' as a birthday present.....awwww bless em. anyway after much deliberation about not 'finishing' it off and just buying another i decided to 'have a go' at making a 'display' helmet out of it.. here's a few pictures of it in it's current state..(although it may not be perfectly screen accurate)..it's never gonna be worn on my head.. unfortunately i never bothered taking pictures of it before i started working on it.....so all the pictures are of it with two coats of white paint on it. but never mind eh?... ----- ----- ----- i wish the camera on my n95 would take decent photos...lol
  19. after getting hold of a replacement 'brow trim' I've come up with a query. just how 'long' is the trim supposed to be? should the trim end above the 'ears'? after looking at loads of 'reference' pictures I've settled with the brow trim being cut to fit around the brow and finishing at the rear of the trapezoids is this right? as I've also seen pictures where the brow trim extends past the 'trapezoids' which is correct?
  20. many thanks for that. looked at your website..awesome work buddy.. (it's now on my favourites list)
  21. when applying tube stripe decals, what distance should they be from the side of the helmet... is there an exact measurement?
  22. if it helps... i usually flat between coats with 600 wet and dry then after painting, flat the final coat of paint with 1200 grit wet and dry paper, (then polish the helmet..oooerr missus...with color restorer...aka...t-cut..)
  23. here's the link to 'seals direct', you can purchse a new 'brow trim' from them http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/bbCMS/shoppin...partmentId=4#33 it's US161
  24. i've gone with the 'black spray paint' option on mine. then covered over the eyes and vents with papa tostop any 'overspray' going onto the black interior when i sprayed the white paint on the lid just ordered a two sets of the 'knee pads'...(these ae gonna look so good inside my bucket)
  25. Again, many thanks to you, * bows *
