A Live Action Boba Fett Movie May Be Happening
ZeroRoom replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Off Topic
As soon as they put it on film it stop being EU and immediately become canon! Oh sweet irony... I think it's too well known that 'Starkiller' was Anakin's original name in the the first draft of Ep 4 - personally I just think of that as a lack of imagination on behalf of the game writers -

Original all the way! Much more interesting story and it doesn't result in every TK being Jake the Muss when they take their helmet off. (you have to live in Australia to understand how offensive much of the casting for Ep's 2 & 3 was... Don't even start me on uncle Owen...) -
Whoa! Wait a minute! $49 for a steel tube?!

I love how it says 'All guns are sold with an orange tip' despite the fact that there's a picture right there that clearly shows it does not have an orange tip. In other news those walking canes are awesome! At least, unlike the blaster, I'd be able to get those past customs in Australia (well except for the wood ones )

Awesome work as always guys! Thanks so much for the Acheivment Award - it's an honor and very humbling in the face of the five years of amazing work put in by so many of the staff around here. Here's to 2016 and "Holo- FISD"

And to think I just downloaded for free something I could have been paying for this whole time!

At the bottom of the screen in the left corner there is a "Change Theme" button. This will give you the option of the FISD.2011 skin, the IPBoard default skin or IP.Board Mobile. Choose IP.Board Mobile and your interface will change. If you access the boards from your iphone it will usually default to this skin anyway but if not, do this manual select process. Same way you should make sure when you log on from your PC you should have FISD.2011 chosen to get rid of the ugly IPBoard default

AP armor arrived today... so shiny!
ZeroRoom replied to niugnep's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Looking forward to this thread. Got me an AP lid on the way so I'll be keeping an eye on your build -
Thanks Joey! Glad you like it What browser are you using Darrel? I'm still scoping any browser specific issues. In Safari and Chrome, using the back button I'm landing back where I left off rather than the top of the page... As for the issue of sending you to the top of the thread it's either in the core code for the 2.3 version of the boards, or it's a browser specific setting. If it can be fixed, I will fix it, if it's one of the two above issues you may have to stick to hitting the time and date link on new posts to go straight to the most recent post I'm like the TK PacMan... It's a weird world in here...

Is it a CE or an LE? Check the CRL link for full info Kevin, but the basic approach is that the MRCE is fine for 501st membership and trooping but will require modding for EIB status. There are several good threads on modding an MR here on the boards. You'll see in the CRL that is not acceptable for Centurion. I personally have one for display but have no intention of trooping it - if only for the lack of decent padding/ strapping on the inside. Hope this helps!

Hey guys - I've been so busy coding the skin I didn't even see this post ! Thanks so much for the warm welcome!

Just to let everyone know - this is not the new skin. Fear not! Consider it a momentary page holder.

Please respond to the poll above! Let us know in the comments if there are any differences since the new format from browser to browser. Thanks Guys!

Very tall and skinny.... advice?
ZeroRoom replied to PCK's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
I've posted this before but it helps you with your question too so here's a copy and paste: At 6'4" AM or RT-Mod would be a great fit for you. I'm a skinny 6'2" and it's sized great for me with trimming for skinny limbs. Check out my "Why I chose AM thread--------- for a detailed examination. You can also see pics of the kit out of the box with a review in my unboxing thread---------- AM is definitely that little bit longer in the limbs which can help reduce visible black areas. If you have saved up a good budget get an AM lite and spend for a good TM or TE2 helmet. You could also get RT-Mod as it is even larger scaled for very tall/large troopers but it's a little more work for a first build and while it is generally considered a little more accurate than AM it can be a longer wait as it tends to be made if and when he has time. AM on the other is widely available (in fact I believe MightyTank is offering some kits in the For Sale threads right now. It depends how long you can wait! Of course on the other hand you'd make an ideal Vader or even a Chewie! -
qestions on my first armor
ZeroRoom replied to SGT Tasty Wheat's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
The best thing is, at 5'10"' 5'11" and 180 pounds you're spot on build for a screen accurate trooper - that's a a head start already! Plus it gives you the widest range ofmscreen accurate armor. Damn my oversize frame! -

Sewing Velcro to a stretchy undersuit?
ZeroRoom replied to Dirty D's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Hi Dirty D, Sorry, I had to pop out for a few drinks (read many) with friends. Ok so this sewing velcro on a Lycra suit thing. I was gonna ask what kind of wetsuit but I see you've cleared that up already. Believe it or not this is do able. Now I've never done it on a TK suit or under suit of any kind but I have a lot of experience making clothes so I can certainly address the issue. First things first - sewing stretch fabric of any kind is always hard unless you are quite experienced with sewing and using the sewing machine. The thinner the stretch fabric and the more 'stretchy' the harder it is. So bear your level of skill in mind when you consider how carefully you work on this. Secondly - sewing a non stretch fabric to a stretch fabric is even harder. The two things do not play nice together, that is why you rarely if ever see any clothes made of stretch and non stretch in combination. (try to think of an example and you'll see what I mean). That doesn't mean its not possible though. The trick to attaching a non stretch like Velcro to a stretch fabric like Lycra is that you have to stretch the Lycra as you sew. If you sew the velcro onto the body suit without stretching the body suit fabric you will run into trouble. Primarily it will pop the stitches or rip the fabric easily later down the line. It wont last long basically. It will also wreak havoc with stretching it to fit your form. So you have to stretch the fabric as you sew, so that you are basically sewing the Velcro onto the fabric in it's stretched form. This will cause it to wrinkle up in a funny way when it's not being worn but will allow it to actually fit your body and help prevent the body suit from stretching further when the weight of the armor is attached. This is important. If you want to add weight to ANY stretch let alone a stretch/ non stretch combination you absolutely must ensure your stitching is applied to the fabric when it is stretched. The exact level of tension required will depend on the fabric, your size and shape and the weight of your armor parts. I have to warn you though that getting this right is hard even for experienced manufacturers. But not impossible - and isn't that the important part? This means you have to sew it using a machine. Unless you have four hands you can't hold it taught enough and hand stitch simultaneously. So you need to keep your skill with the machine in mind. the only other possible option is for you to wear the suit while someone else hand sews the velcro directly on while your form stretches the fabric to shape. As to the issue of whether the fabric can hold the weight of the armor, well that's a different issue. If your ABS is anything like my armor, the weight shouldn't be issue, but mobility definitely will be. The issue with using velcro (anytime really, but especially for this) is that it simply separates when under any tension. Meaning you may well move your arm out to shake someone's hand and watch as your shoulder bells rip off and drop to the floor. The only real way I could see to prevent this is to reinforce your under suit with a grid like structure of bonding type tape inside that provides a sort of framework to prevent stretching causing the Velcro to separate, of course this would involve a whole new level of sewing non stretch to stretch. Put your under suit on and watch how much the fabric around, say, the shoulder moves, slides and stretches when you move your arm. Now imagine what that would do to any velcro connected to a solid, not-at-all-stretchy piece of plastic. The plastic stays, the fabric moves, the Velcro seperates. So is it do able? Yes. BUT You'd need to be either very good or very experienced with a sewing machine and you wouldn't be able to move much in your armor. Basically, it can be done. It might even work, but I wouldn't recommend it. Moving in armor using the traditional strapping that keeps the plastic independent of your body is hard enough. Imagine it if you were all 'stuck together'.... -
