  1. just got my anovos. I need ESB guards in that color.
  2. worth about 450.00 The plastic is really cheap. Holster is the strongest item. If I shelled out 1800.00 for this with their strapping kit I'd be really upset!
  3. Compared to the many kit's I have owned and built. RS Props 1 AP "way too many" LOL. Pm me for details. ATA 2 MTK 2 ANOVOS 1 The anovos armor looks like it's going to be a very quick build for me. 2.5 hours later and I'm done pre trimming all the arms and legs. now up next is the torso parts. I usually have an extra harness on hand, I make them from a back support brace belt. (tutorial soon) Planned upgrades to helmet: Remove velcro headliner (save for TIE kit!) DONE Add star foam liner. DONE Add chinstrap DONE replace hovie tips with keith's. remove frown paint at ends, and repaint with proper gloss paint. Replace Frown mesh with my own personal white gaffer's tape. DONE Planned upgrades to armor: Replace belt with a trooperbay belt. I will keep some fabric from the original assembly and glue my own belt to that. DONE Latex hand plates. DONE New real bolts for T Det, with nuts and washers, with the correct head size. ( so glad they just left this part in kit form! YAY!) DONE
  4. Hello Troops, I've been looking over my recent AVOVOS shipment. So far here are my basic thoughts at first glance. Helmet. Velcro lenses with padding. I like to make my helmets with removable lenses. Not too bad! Hard hat liner. gonna remove that. easy out! done! Paint on frown is horrible, and I need to fix it. Mic Tips are fair, but I'm gonna go with keith's tips. The screens are just wrong. Ears are way too sharp. Armor Ammo plastic belt is riveted to the assembly. ugh! Belt plastic is extremely thin. New belt is ready! caps are ca glued down. easy fix! Overall the plastic seems really a lot thinner than most vetted armors. mine came without the protective film on some of my leg parts and it looks like it got kicked around the floor in china. Shoulder straps are total garbage... So very far off. Pulls are too crisp, and plastic seems cheap. Belt Flimsy TRASH COMPACTOR Hero holster design. 4 chicago screws. (made me feel at home here since I use the exact same kind on my kits.) I Threw the belt in the trash. Holster. Really a overly sturdy and hard, thick leather. actually fits a real sterling. will be mounted with the stunt format with 2 screws in the new belt. Biceps White tape - fitted to me and ready to glue. bottom returns still need to come off. Forearms Shins Thighs Torso top Torso bottom inside strapping More to come as I have now started the trimming process. I can't talk when I have armor to build. Photos will be taken after the trimming is done.
  5. Another little bit of AWESOME going on in here!
  6. most likely it is industrial velcro. Most RS belts seem to use that.
  7. If you have an RS suit and you're bending down, I'd closely examine the bracket system, too much stress on that can cause other problems. You can quickly fix this 2 ways. Add a section of canvas with velcro on each side to the center of the join. Imagine a rectangle with fuzz on one side and hook on the other. When added in place it can help to extend the belt from the inside. Add the sew in snaps by sewing to a square of fabric, and then loop sew that to the inside of the belt.
  8. After close examination these are very well made products, yet lack some details I'd like to see included. Perhaps with some education the models can go into V.2... Good luck!
  9. This is a fan sculpt. It has some shape issues. The TFA helmets from anovos have been reviewed and seem to be a much better product than a fibreglass version that did not come from the original molds. I personally would only want something that is exact in every detail.
  10. The goal I have here is to represent history from brian muir.
  11. TE aka Trooper expert is the founder of the derived class of TK armor. Working closely with dan laws he took the cameron oakley armor sculpt to the level of being used across the legion in many derived sculpts. TE TE2 CAP CAP-W ATA MTK this is a short list of makers derived from the TE base. 2005-2006 TE and AA worked together on his sculpt.
  12. The darkside of SDS relates directly to the Topic in this thread. it is brian muir and his answer to the history at hand. AA has made some very unfounded claims. The claims AA makes are what causes brian to want to correct the story. Brian has also given direct credit to Liz Moore as the sculptor of the helmet.
  13. Here's the short story. hired by lucasfilm: AA formed helmets and armor from the brian muir and elstree Sculpts. There was an Gas explosion in AA's shop. AA contacted TE and made arrangements with him. Created new molds and started producing armor. AA no longer has the original forms from the films. they are a derived TE format. TE personally photographed the images in the gallery where 2 suits are compared. and I have personally spoken to TE on the phone about all this. brian muir has a great FB page with all the court documents, and discussions with his involvement with the court case. https://www.facebook.com/groups/367062635069/
  14. I think the finish should be as close as you can get to the parts kit you already have. If you match that, you'll have a great starting point. the blasters in the film were original finish, and then spray painted flat black.
  15. RE: Temporary Policy | Blaster / Weapons - Public Use / Display As of today per Lucasfim, Ltd. / Disney... "So for now I can confirm that prop blasters can once again be displayed in public in the US only – regions outside the US are still on moratorium but I understand that is under discussion at this time." Good news for USA residents.
  16. I agree... AA has a strong story to stand on at first look. but bring in the heavy hitters like john mollo or brian muir and AA's story requires more detailed examination. We have been doing the research, and we can prove how the saga plays out.
  17. I am currently working on a 501st project that outlines the entire OT armor history.
  18. Brian is the source of the real facts surrounding the ANH armor history. his descriptions stand above AA.
  19. You are missing an important point. I'm not talking about law, or the court, I'm talking about the armor in question. the details in the AA situation are not just about the court case... but about the armor being built by the company. on our gallery section we have photos. Those photos were used to show the DIFFERENCE between the LFL orginal armor sculpted by brian muir, and the armor created by AA in shepperton design studios. so these photos show the original brian muir sculpts alongside the SDS sculpts http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/album/15-lucas-film-archives-tkcaleb/ so this gallery on our site shows the court case in photos. on one side the original, and on the other the SDS version. Matt Gauthier shot these photos.
