  1. Id say keep it within a half inch or so and its good to go
  2. Thanks! Response back from the GML is I need to remove the "grenade pouch" from my shoulder mounted ammo pouch, also had some discoloration in my pictures that made my grey areas of my pack look blue, and handguards look yellow. I used my latex handguards that are glued to my rubber gloves..so basicaly i just need to find better lighting and set up my camera better....part of the issue was, and no dogging on my wife(my photographer)), was that she pressed a wrong button and it turned on a filter on my camera and made my flash also act funky, so it kind of colored some areas that it shouldn't have. I realized it after undressing, and by then she was already out and about so there was no chance to retake pictures. Will try it again today or tomorrow and hopefully things go smoother(i need to get better quality pictures anyways for EIB/Centurion applications). I don't understand why the grenade pouch needs to be removed, but thats what the boss wants.
  3. E-11s are acceptable for HWT as well, as with the SE-14R
  4. Not all Sandys wear backpacks. Some just the pauldron and ammo pouches. Pauldrons are okay for non formal troops like conventions and what not. Also the HWT does wear them. Some TKs are seen in Star Wars Rebels with pauldrons, but never in the movies. Perhaps Rogue One will change that
  5. Basic approval pics have been submitted! Pack needed a little adjustment, but when i saw this my wife had already left to run errands. Can not dress in this without a handler lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. As long as it meets the correct sizes i don't see an issue at all. Check out UKswrath's hwt pack tutorial, click the amazon link to his boxes, and get the dimensions off of those. Trooperbays pouches and pauldron will work perfectly as well. I would try to find a smaller wipes container, however. There are some that are thinner than the one you have pictured, and thats the one most of us use. As long as your boxes are pretty close to what UKswrath uses, i would say your good to go
  7. Weathered the armor today. Also testing out my shoulder mounted ammo pouch strap and hip mounted strap as well. I need to add an extra male snap to my shoulder mounted ammo pouch, and tighten up my hip mounted one, but its on to submission pics tomorrow! Yes i know, i need a haircut lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Just a tad bit of elbow grease and it came off pretty easily.. I used Meguiars Rubbing Compound to remove it and it only took a little to take it off. I was pleasently surprised!
  9. Got some stuff to weather my HWT before submitting my pictures to the GML. After some more strap adjustments(from worn out elastic after 2 years of heavy trooping!), ill be ready for pictures. I did some weathering to my backpack. The full view picture does it no justice though, so i included some close ups too. I did not want to heavily weather it, as I don't plan on heavily weathering my HWT. Here is the make up I am using to weather my armor. I did some testing with it on scrap abs using a blush brush. Put it on quite heavily so I could see how hard it would be to wipe off when i was ready to go back to TK, hence why half is weathered and half is clean. After testing the make up, i decided to go ahead and start with something small, and weather my plastic ammo belt. So here it is! Thoughts comments concerns all are welcome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Since the screen caps don't show an antenna, i didn't attach one. In all likelyhood i will most likely add one on at a later date, but not on any rush lol. Did a little bit of weathering today on the pack. Will try to get some pictures up tonight. Im now searching for some brush on weathering to apply to my armor that i could just wipe right off if i needed to. I made a strap out of nylon that I will try to loop around my TK belt to see if that will work out for my hip mounted ammo pouch. I installed snaps onto my backpack shoulder straps to attach my shoulder mounted ammo pouch. Hopefully I can get my submission pictures in tomorrow(depends on my wifes willingness to cooperate though lol).
  11. Usually just leave em in my armor bin. Buy a combo lock for the armor bin and you will never need a place to hide a key
  12. My daughter could not help herself but take pictures with me lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Okay, replaced the bolts with rivets. One washer to reinforce the plastic, and one on top of the strapping material to reinforce that. Oh, and I got around to a little test fitting too! Full costume besides my handguards. I still need to attach my hip mounted ammo pouch permanently, and install new snaps on my belt(im using my TK belt, just made the boxes removable, and flipped the belt so the holes from my holster attachment could be covered up by the hip mounted ammo pouch). I also still need to find a more stable way of mounting my shoulder mounted ammo pouch(i used strapping looped around the pouch strap, being held by a magnet. Then fed my shoulder bell to shoulder connection strap through that loop). I like the convenience, but i know over time that will stretch out that strap quicker than it would under normal wear and tear. Ill likely install snaps on my back pack and have the corresponding snaps looped around the ammo pouches strap. Heres the test fit! I need to push the hip mounted ammo back closer to the middle of my side, but this was just for test fitting purposes only. Still debating how exactly i will attach it. Oh! And i still need to weather my pack and also the armor. Almost at the finish line! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Ill be replacing the bolts for sure and adding more reinforcement. This was more or less just to get an idea of where to install the bolts. Definitely replacing with rivets and washers. I just don't trust the nuts and bolts enough to keep from coming loose lol. Thank you for your kind words and advice!
  15. Disclaimer, i will be attaching some black eva foam to prevent the pack from scratching up my TK armor
  16. Final assembly completed!! And strapping completed! Minus my MP-40 ammo pouch connection on the left side, ill figure that out after my first initial test run. I hope to take my submission photos tomorrow or Thursday. I need to make my drop boxes removable, get some weathering make up for my armor, and also weather the pack Here is how I strapped the backpack. I used machine screws for now, but will probably switch that over to pop rivets tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Ive actually found myself wanting to make a chest mount for my amp and accesories. Reason being, is its kind of a pain to put the armor on while sliding plugging my mic in and such
  18. Okay, all the boxes are currently curing onto the oil pan. I used drywall screws, and E6000 to attach them onto the base. Also used drywall screws to attach the wipes container as well. And am just using E6000 to install the radio to the back pack. All thats left to do is attach the filtration cup, attach the tube(the ribbed shoulder strapping is currently curing as well on the pipe), and attach straps to this thing, and its onto submission pictures! Will likely do some weathering to the backpack as well to match the brush on weathering ill have to do for my Centurion app(and yes i intend to earn my badge again lol). See, white end caps Here is my filtration cup as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. They are white actually lol. I still had masking tape on them after painting the tube black
  20. More and more progress for my "clean sandy." Everything is painted. Pictures not shown just yet are of the black panel that goes onto my "wipes" container. It is still drying, along with 4 black sheet metal screws i will use to install them onto the container, along with some super glue. Heres an extremely rough shot of the assembly with the boxes just sitting on my oil pan. Also not pictured YET is my riveted and painted filtration system. After the final components dry overnight, i am hoping to begin getting everything attached. I still need to grab some strapping material to make my straps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Congrats, Jack! Wish I could have been there for your first troop, but you were with one of my "generals" at least(Scott Harrelson). Looks like y'all had a blast!
  22. interesting. I haven't had any bad reviews come up from them still. Eneloop pro just seemed to not be worth the trade off by amount of charges it lost compared to the basic Eneloops.
  23. I cannot tell you how awesome Panasonic Eneloop rechargeables are. I decided to try em out on my Xbox One controllers, and WOW is it a huge difference compared to the Microsoft or Nyko rechargeable battery packs! Ive never looked back! I will test them out with my 5v fans when they arrive. My buddy has the anker 10,000 mah power bank, ill have to check with his to see if it will indeed fit inside my bucket. I absolutely love the idea of using a power bank!
  24. Alright more progress! Did a quick test fitting on all my components. Thanks to a nice armor party and awesome POWER TOOLS, i was able to neatly trim off the rounded portions of the PVC endcaps for my tube. Nice clean cut and looks as if its one piece! Also the tk ribbed shoulder components came in, and a big thanks to Walts Trooper Factory for supplying them! And here are the shoulder straps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
