Nice!  The scope looks better.  You could tone down the brass colour on the hengstler a bit.  I'm not entirely sure, but I think the back half of the counter wasn't the same metal used for the front half - in fact, it might have been plastic.  Best to have one of our e-ll experts chime in.

Looks like you may have already seen this, but just in case here it is anyways...

Exactly. One part is out of brass, the other out of grey plastic. So if you want te be really accurate, you should make grey color look through.

    Thanks for the appreciation, guys!

To be honest, i am quite unsure whether i should weather the blaster in general. I love the new look :-)...

Beside of that, i really do not know if i will follow the painting from the blaster reference.

I do not like the glossy paint color of the grip, for example...

    Let‘s see...

The original handle was made of "Bakelit" which is black and glossy. It's not painted, it's just the regular material color.
I have some orginial grips here, they look like this:

It's more or less glossy. Pretty much scuffed.

  3. Great to see, you've been to an armor party! That's the best way to get some first hand information. :)

Your choice on the armor kit and boots is great. Are you making the canvas belt, holster and neckseal yourself?
If you're looking for silicone handplates: @justjoseph63 is making them, just PM him and he'll have more detailled information.

  4. With my old armor kit, I had the cod plate split from the abdomen plate. It's comfortable for when you gotta pee. But that's pretty much it.
For height adjustment I'd recommend the more accurate method of cutting the chest plate, like Mathias advised.

With my newer armor, I decided to leave it as one piece, for accuracy reasons. :)

Sorry to hijack the topic but I have a friend in the same situation. Trying to register today but he's not getting the confirmation email. Already checked spam and nothing in there.

Did he try to explicitly put "whitearmor.net" on the whitelist? If so, I can send the confirmation mail again. In case that doesn't help, please PM me his username..

I still have to trim off the overlap to fit my skinny legs, then I’ll worry about the shape.

As far as moving the thread, I wonder if more people would see it on the main thread than here? What are your thoughts?

  7. Ehm .... not sure about what's written there about holsters....

ANH holster straps can be either black or tain in color. Stunt has two fasteners, hero four.

    Anyway great spreadsheet! :)

We can improve this a little more and once it's perfect we should make a downloadable PDF file out of it. ;)

  8. This looks impressive. As Greg said, the shins should be open.
Pepakura is a lot of work, I suggest you use epoxy resin on the surface. Put thin layers of it on the paper, one after another until you have a hard and durable material. After that you will still need to sand the surface until it's smooth and round instead of poligonal. This will take a lot of time and you might use some more layers of epoxy resin or filler.

In the end I recommend you to get the whole armor painted or if you have the skills, paint it on your own.

looking forward to this build! :)

I want to say thanks to Joseph and everyone who's helped create this list.

In preparation for purchasing said supplies I put the list into a Google spreadsheet.  I added columns for received, ordered, cost and location.

    tPJG9tz6pTFqIaoIOi_ChoBq_V7e3SqpJmKCG7J4

The columns are filterable so you can weed out the items you've purchased or, if you're going to a store for a few items you can filter down to just those items.  (You'll need Google Sheets installed on your phone for mobile use)

If anyone is interested this sheet can be found here.  It's read only so you'll have to go to File-->Make a Copy to copy it to your google account.

This is amazing! Great work and thank you so much.

If you don't mind, I'll add this to the very first post. ;)

I didn't know any better at the time, but this is actually what I bought a few years ago, and just now started assembling it myself. It started out as a really good Halloween costume. That's all I initially intended it to be. It's not horrible, but it is fine for the occasional outing. I don't think it will hold up to "hard" use.  It is "matte" plastic and will require gloss white spray paint. Additionally some of the pieces aren't "square so it takes some work to shape them. I am 5'6" and about 150 pounds. The person whom this armor was cast from had to have been built like a freaking NFL linebacker because I have had to to do lots and lots of trimming. I don't think I will be able to get it up to 501st specs because I have had to rivet in places that I shouldn't, but won't be noticeable when I pit the Velcro strip seam on, in order to get it fitted right to my body.

Just open a thread in the build section and post some photos. We might get you ready for 501st approval ;)
